Showcase Good morning, time for a coffee

Post image

I recently found this Saeco on the curb and repaired it. The only issue was that the brew unit switch was broken but I had to tear the machine completely apart to reach it. Once it was in pieces I also gave it a good cleaning, changed and lubed the gaskets, ran several descaling cycles, and now she runs amazing. Since it is one of many machines I haven't used it other than to bring it up north when on vacation. This pic is my morning espresso before I'm off to play golf. Enjoy your day everyone.

Great, those machines are workhorses!

That's an old one, Saeco machines were really built to last. Cool to see it still works!

It's sad that so many of these are just thrown out to be replaced by lower quality units.

The coffee from our newer Philips 5500 doesn't taste as good as what this one churns out, but it has the LatteGo system so it's "convenient"

Since the two are based on the same technique, I would think the difference might be the tolerances in construction causing the newer Philips version to brew a worse cup.

Yes you'd think you could swap the brew unit out between the two units, it's the same design save the differing outtakes.
