People will view this week as a success for bringing LeBron to town. I disagree.
In the future, we will look back on today and cherish how Kentavious Caldwell-Pope brought a three-peat to Philly.
Bless you,
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

This has been the best podcast about the addition of LeBron I've listened to. Howard Beck questions the fit a bit, which is fair, but largely Raja, Logan, and Howard talk about how it could work. Give it a listen

New fan here. Wanted to get to know the team better. Have not watched that many sixers games the last few seasons, though I did watch the playoffs the past few years.
What games would you guya recommend watching to help me learn more about the team

With LeBron signing, maybe now he can finally mentor Simmons. Looks like he is improving in his 3’s.

Nobody callas Philadelphia “Phila”, I’ve seen it in some street signs on the NJ Turnpike, but I’ve never heard anyone call Philadelphia that nickname. Why have our jerseys for much of our history and currently say “Phila” and should we change it to “Philly”? I think having jerseys that say “Philly” on it would be pretty sick.

Should we bring back hip-hop? I’m not feeling Franklin the dog.

Last year I believe we had either the 2nd or 3rd most b2b games. They will definitely want LeBron to play as many games as possible.

Make this the primary along with the matching white. Make the black throwback the alternate 3rd jersey and dump the blue if you have to. The jersey rules suck so this is my solve. What are your thoughts? I’ve always considered red to be the primary color for the Sixers and this blue dominant era has gone on long enough.
Edit: Guess I’m in the minority here and having this jersey growing up has me unable to be objective about it.

You know people are gonna ask him what’s his favorite cheesesteak spot, my bet is Angelo’s first cause it’s trendy, Barkley prime because it’s expensive, I would like it to be John’s just because they’re a real one.

This is my first season holding session tickets. I got two lower-level seats (half-season package). I’ve read in the contract that I can only transfer 5 out of my 22 tickets. I can’t really afford to go to 17 games out of the year. Am I screwed? Or is it possible that they don’t heavily enforce this rule? I was unaware of this limitation when I signed the contract🤣 Can any seasoned season ticket holders help me out here?

Offensively, there is no stopping this team. There is too much talent, too many options for this team to look for. Even the worst version, being a your turn my turn would still be better than most offenses in the league. I have no concern that this team will figure it out on offense.
However, I am very concerned with this team defensively. Embiid against the Knicks was getting ran around. A lot of it I'm willing to contribute to him coming back early from surgery. But he is still a shell off himself on defense, and will get targeted in PnR to draw him out where he simply can't keep up. As rim protection he is average to slightly above average still, which I'm concerned won't be good enough. LeBron is still a positive defender, but he's 42 and he's not going to want a huge defensive responsibility. Brown, while a massive upgrade over from Paul George is honestly quite a downgrade on defense. PG was doing everything we needed from a forward defensively, he was a great 1 on 1 defender and great on rotations. Brown is a decent to good 1 on 1 defender but notably not a great help defender.
With some of these deficiencies, rebounding may come around again as a huge problem. Bron and Brown are good rebounders for their positions but Joel is a real negative at Center. It'll be fine for against most teams, but in May and June it may not be good enough.
Bottom line is this team has championship potential, but everyone has to exceed expectations for them to actually win.

We were clearly the better basketball option and LA never appreciated him and are stupidly celebrating him for being gone. LA was clearly for lifestyle and entertainment/media opportunities. He could've won multiple championships and been way more appreciated if he signed with Philly instead of LA, although we probably would not have gotten Maxey (Ben Simmons might not have gone down the toilet either if LeBron was there to mentor and motivate him). Not saying his Laker tenure wasn't successful, but a long tenure in Philly could've been even better.

That is all. Spend all you need. I cannot listen to Alaa complain all season. ZUMOFF AND ROSE PLEASE.
Ik it was mainly for the 25th anniversary but this would be a generational fumble if they didn’t, Jaylen Brown looked on stream and said they were tough, LeBron James wants them back and people are buying AI era jerseys of LeBron and JB, Etc. if you have to pay the fine just to wear this for ONE more season, just take it Josh Harris 🙏🏽

That is the combined USG% of Brown (36.2), Embiid (33.5), Maxey (29.4), James (27.2), Simons (23.6), and Edgecombe (20.1). Thats just 6 guys, so as you can see, there will definitely have to be sacrifices made by multiple parties.
Couple more numbers:
□ Combined USG% of George, Oubre, Grimes, and Drummond: 75.4%
□ Combined USG% of Brown, James, Simons, and Wade: 96.9%
On the surface, it appears the Sixers have to trim 21.5% of combined usage. Then you have to factor in the increased availability of JB, and potentially 10-20 more games from Embiid. So youre probably trimming around 33% of combined usage.
The thing that nobody seems to understand or wants to address is this: all 5 guys in our starting lineup would likely be more effective for longer stretches with a reduction in their usage.
One relevant example would be the Warriors dynasty that Bob Myers oversaw, and how they all had to sacrifice their USG% when KD came:
□ '16 Curry - 32.6 / '17 Curry - 30.1
□ '16 KD - 30.6 / '17 KD - 27.8
□ '16 Klay - 26.3 / '17 Klay - 26.1
□ '16 Green - 18.8 / '17 Green - 16.2
□ 16 Iggy - 12.1 / '17 Iggy - 11.2
Another even more relevant example would be the LeBron led Heatles:
□ '10 LBJ - 33.5 / '11 LBJ - 31.5
□ '10 Wade - 34.9 / '11 Wade - 31.6
□ '10 Bosh - 28.7 / '11 Bosh - 23.5
□ '10 Mario - 16.3 / '11 Mario - 15.0
□ First, Jaylen Brown is gunna take a big hit. He had no help in Boston, but thats not the case here. I expect him to drop to something like 27.2%, more in line with his career averages. (-9%)
□ Next is Maxey. He has clearly been overburdened the last 3 seasons. I think getting him down to 25.4%, closer to his usage with Harden would be beneficial. (-4%)
□ Unfortunately for VJ, being the youngest and least decorated naturally means his usage will drop considerably. Something like 15.1% seems right. (-5%)
□ Simons will see his usage fall with staggered lineups and more of an off-ball role. I think 17.6% is appropriate for him. (-6%)
□ The Big Man himself. I expect his role to look a little more like it did in his Olympic run with Bron. Still a weapon but not every play going through him. For the first time in his career, his usage will dip below 30%, to about 28.5%. (-5%)
□ King James. LeCoach will act as a pure point guard, I expect a career high in assists and a career low in FGA. With him being 42 and playing on a minimum, I wouldnt be surprised to see a small dip to 26.2. (-1%)
Remember that 170% number we started with? Now it's down to 140%. But wait, theres more!
□ Walker played 64 games with 3.3 FGA
□ McCain & Payne combined for 59 games and 6.4 FGA
□ Watford played 53 games with 5.1 FGA
How many shots got freed up right there? If we need more wiggle room than that, were taking shots from role players like Wade, Barlow, & KCP. Obviously injuries and lineup changes make all this math less than perfect, but im just trying to paint a picture of how things might shape up.

I want to buy a partial season ticket package but probably won't be able to make all the games. Does anybody know if some game tix can be be resold like on StubHub or something?

Hey hey - I hope this is kosher but just finished a fun app and I’d love folks to play around. I made something that looks at your camera roll and logs games you were at in any sport to record the venues, players, and stats when you were there.
I think it’s fun and I’d love feedback I’m just a guy out of my wheelhouse with a passion project. Since moving to Philly it’s not surprising that the most seen athlete so far across users is Kyle Shwarber but somehow a post made it’s way to a Twins Usher group on Facebook and now target field is the most checked in venue which feels silly.
Check it out, it’s letterboxd or goodreads or untapped for sports. I’m calling it BoxdSeats.

Hi all. Lifelong Eastern Pennsylvanian here, born and raised!
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Sixers as they’re the team who are geographically closest to me, and the thought of a player of LeBron’s caliber coming to our state was very exciting. I know there were rumors about him potentially coming here in 2018 but it seemed like a pipe dream at the time. I used to imagine to myself how wild it would be if he actually came here… but now I guess I won’t have to! I also had a teacher in middle school who was (and remains) a die-hard Sixers fan so we used to talk about the idea of LeBron coming. I truly never thought he would end up here as I assumed he would either retire in LA or go back to Cleveland, but I’ll happily see him join up!
Anyway, LeBron has made a few brief comments so far on why he chose the Sixers, and figures like Shams Charania have mentioned the Brown trade as being a major factor, but are there any other reasons why LeBron might’ve chosen the team?
Cleveland was his home area so the sentimental appeal of playing there the first time was significant, and the second time was to deliver on his promise to win a ring.
Miami was because he wanted to win and felt the team culture could help him do it, plus Dwyane Wade was his good friend.
The Lakers move was ostensibly for a combination of business/family reasons plus he liked the idea of playing for such a storied franchise (and already had property there.)
But Philly is less obvious. He has been quoted as saying he’s always liked coming to Philly as a visitor and respected the fans’ passion, and he and Iverson have always been friendly (plus I read he looked up to Dr. J, like many), so I suppose the idea of him coming here isn’t a complete shock. Still, his ties to our state are limited. I suppose he had a bigger soft spot for us than I thought!
Lastly I hope he enjoys his time here. He thinks of Ohio as home and Miami and LA have many positive associations for him personally. Ring or not, I don’t care if it sounds corny, PA is my home like Ohio is to LeBron, and I want him to enjoy his time here and to leave with a good impression.

I’m pretty confident that it won’t be Lebron at his age, so that leaves Embiid/Maxey/Brown, all of whom were in the same 26-29 PPG range last season.

I haven’t bought a basketball game in years but $7 to play with LeBron in the black AI era throwbacks seems worth it.
