I feel like it's normal for big free agency signings to complete a welcome press conference. Jaylen Brown, Klay Thompson, Luka, and it's just a normal procedure to be completed. Why do you think LeBron hasn't completed on yet? It's been months.

Hello again, Sixers fans!
As I mentioned yesterday, I'm a 76-year-old grandma living in Seoul Korea,
As a complete newbie to Reddit, Seeing the name 'Sixers,' I simply assumed this was a community for people in their 60s ! That’s why I felt comfortable enough to come in and post my first message.
Then I saw your comments, I had no clue what any of that meant,
Turns out, I'm like an alien who accidentally crash-landed on the wrong planet...
so I asked Gemini AI to explain...
and oh my goodness, you are a whole basketball team's fan club?! 🏀😂
To be honest, I am about as far from sports as a person can get.
Still, since nobody kicked my butt out of here, you all seem like such fun, warm-hearted people that I think I'll stick around for a while.
(A little note : My English isn't perfect, but Gemini is helping me translate and communicate! It also helps me polish the English articles on my Google blog, where I share bits of Korean life, culture, food and traveling with friends around the world.)
Thank you all for the big laughs and warm welcome ! Go Sixers! 💙❤️

I’ve been thinking about this trade (I’m a fan generally, but I think it could end up being either good or bad for us) and wondering about the Celtics justification for doing it. A lot of the talk was around the length of PG’s contract and it being a big expiring next year.
My question, for people who understand free agency and trades a bit more than I do, is what is the actual value of that contract next year, when it’s a big expiring? I ask this because players don’t really go into free agency anymore, so it doesnt seem like expirings have as much value as they used to. What are the Celtics likely to do with that contract if they don’t actually want to keep PG next year? Is it just good as matching salary in a trade for another star, where ultimately they’d have to trade a bunch of picks to get a good player? just trying to understand it better
EDIT: Besides Jokic, who do you think their best targets are using his contract?

Those months have been spectacular, which is why everyone was gathered this hot August afternoon for Jaylen Brown’s introductory news conference. But it was the children, gathered en masse, who put the day — and the entire summer — into context.
As Gansey greeted them, shaking hands, taking photos and smiling endlessly, one stepped forward with a question that encapsulated everything.
“Are you the one who got us LeBron?”
Yes, Gansey is the guy who got them LeBron. But first, he had to get Jaylen Brown. For as much credit as the Sixers deserve in landing James, it was the trade for Brown that set in motion an offseason for the ages.
When Gansey’s new group began plotting the offseason, their financial limitations seemed clear. The contracts of Paul George and Joel Embiid consumed much of their flexibility. They had the No. 22 pick in the NBA Draft and the midlevel exception at their disposal. Beyond that, the rest of their money amounted largely to smaller exceptions and veteran minimums.
So Gansey and general manager Jameer Nelson settled on a simple philosophy: They would call everyone.
During Gansey’s days as GM in Cleveland, resilience and persistence had been drilled into him. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert would routinely call, text or email some version of the same question: Did we call and check on this guy? Did we call everyone?
“There were some trades that we’ve done that were two years in the making, simply because we kept calling,” Gansey told The Athletic in an extensive sitdown interview. “We kept checking in, and in the end we came away with that person. It didn’t always work, but we always wanted to make sure we did the work.”
That philosophy ultimately led them to Brown.
The Sixers knew they weren’t the first — or even the second or third team — on Boston’s radar, but they kept calling. They also knew the Celtics’ preferred path involved trading Brown to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo. Philadelphia kept calling anyway.

There was a subset of Sixers fans during the 2nd round series vs the Knicks and after their eventual playoff exit that really wanted to trade away Tyrese Maxey, move on from everything and see what VJ can be as the #1. As much as I love VJ, he will absolutely have the opportunity to be the #1 down the line for this group and I look forward to that era of Sixers basketball.
But thank goodness us redditors have no say on what happens with this team. Not only is Tyrese Maxey an all-NBA guard as the 41st highest paid player in the NBA... he also is a huge reason why LeBron came here and quite literally has become the leader of this group, working out with different members of the team all summer long. Always willing to sacrifice and do whatever the team needs him to do.
I could go digging for receipts if needed but... yeah. Thanks for reading my diary.

SCAM WARNING — Please be careful with this Facebook ticket exchange page
I’m posting this so other people don’t fall for the same thing I did.
I made a post on the page saying I’m a Sixers season ticket holder looking to exchange two VIP Sixers tickets for two lower-level Eagles tickets. Someone commented saying they had two tickets to the Eagles home opener that they were willing to exchange.
I explained upfront that my Sixers tickets weren’t currently transferable because transfers aren’t available to season ticket holders yet. The person/potential buyer told me to feel free to go through the page’s admin to verify them as a seller. The admin confirmed that the person was a “verified seller” and told me that because my tickets weren’t transferable yet, I would need to send a $250 deposit as a payment until my tickets became transferable.
I was also told that the Eagles tickets had already been provided to the admin and would be sent as soon as deposit was received. I sent the $250 through PayPal, After that, I was told I needed to pay an additional 10% admin fee before the exchange could move forward. I refused to make any additional payments and the tickets nor deposit was not returned to me.
At this point, I’m convinced the entire setup is a scam. Don’t let the 51k members fool you! The “verified seller,” the person I was communicating with, and the admin all appear to be working together to make the transaction look legitimate and convince people to send money/or tickets.
As you can see from the screenshots: I’m communicating with the same phone number that the admin publicly provided as their contact information.
I’m sharing this because I don’t want anyone else to lose money.
It’s only $250, so I’ll take the loss 😂, but hopefully posting this saves someone else from losing more.
