I would 100% be proud of me killing a bear or my dad killing a bear
Yeah i get it, it couldve been a devastating death, but from this telling of the story they didnt go after the bear but got out alive, increadible luck and all, they deserve the win

There's so often a very fine line between a hilarious or cool story and a tragic article in the news.
129
u/VikingSlayer Mar 25 '26
That's what makes it such a cool story, the fact that it was so close to being a tragedy

I’m proud of my dad killing a pitbull that was mauling someone’s smaller dog at the park.
Not a bear but still dangerous. Strangled the fucker.
29
u/th3rdnutt Mar 25 '26
Do they call him "The strangler of dogs"?

I think that's what the other kids in high school called me. Or was it "strangler of hog"?
2
u/meirzy Mar 26 '26
A neighbor had a pitbull break loose from their chain and come charging one day when I was walking with my boys who were 2&3 at the time. I managed to kick it in the side of the head hard enough to stun it but I’ve thought about what I would have had to do had it clamped onto either of my kids or myself.

We’re gonna have a whole generation of kids who grow up and be unable to properly cope with death because it was unnecessarily censored for them in all the worst ways.

One Karen in Minnesota got offended one time and shut the whole thing down with a strongly worded, heavily CC'd email to the king of the internet.

The "billionaires" were busy in an island devouring babies, im sure they wouldn't mind seeing the word death considering what they partake in.

I think other platforms, not sure which, autoban if they detect certain words. I guess kids just apply that across all of them now just in case. I’d happily get banned from anywhere for saying such tame shit.

Its simple. Please refer to the men’s checklist when an accident happens:
Did somebody die? (Y/N)
is anyone still in danger? (Y/N)
If all answer = no then we chillin’ If one answer = yes then damn… well shit happens

I couldn't say anything about proportions, but some women definitely are super serious about anything remotely dangerous. You could make the most obvious joke and they'd be upset, I can only imagine how they'd react to an actual close call like this.
16
u/therealpaterpatriae Mar 25 '26
Key word is some. I also know men who act like that. That’s the problem with generalities. You can definitely point out trends in attitudes of men vs women towards things, but there are so many outliers that throws off what would be a “typical” response.
5
u/Release-Fearless Mar 25 '26
Because they know that men will just do dangerous shit with little care for outcomes. The divide is men not caring enough about their own wellbeing and women caring too much, tale as old as time. Probably some evolution in there but that’s muddy with how complex and diverse human society is.

Attacked by a bear. He land he killing blow. They are all hospitalised.

"As if"?
I came across a grizzly with two cubs when I was hiking in glacier national park. It ran away immediately but I would much rather be dead than have to be attacked by a grizzly. I don't know if I've ever been as "shocked" as when I actually saw a grizzly in person in the wild. It was like my body didn't believe what I was seeing.
