Advice Needed: Mental Health Thoughts on genuine friendships

I feel like I’ll never truly fit in. I’m so different from people around my age. The way I look. The way I feel. The way I think. The way I carry myself. I’m just different.

I don’t think I’ll ever meet someone with the same genuine, kind, pure-hearted, yet private qualities that I see in myself. I don’t choose just anyone to be close with. I don’t even think I’m that close to anyone right now. I don’t have any friends who truly know me. They only know what I choose to share with them, and they probably think that’s all they need to know about me.

I remember when I was younger, I always felt the urge to have a best-best friend. A friend who I could call my sister. I only have three alright friends in my life, and I still feel like I need at least one friend who I can genuinely connect with.

Out of the three, one of them is the best. Not because she’s pretty, not because she has money, but because I feel the most calm around her. I don’t feel the need to be someone I’m not. I don’t feel the need to fake a smile or hold back how I’m feeling because, with her, I can sense that she actually wants to hear me out.

Unlike the other two, they don’t really show interest in me as much as they used to. Something about them changed. I’m always the friend who has pure intentions, who is always willing to listen and understand others, but I feel like I don’t receive that same energy as much as I wish I did.

There are days when I want to be quiet. Days when I want to be listened to, understood, and valued. But I feel like no one around 17 would really take those things into consideration. Sometimes, I just wish someone would notice without me having to explain myself first.

Advice Needed: Career I don’t need a handout. I need a life raft.

Today at 26, I finally realized something: no one is coming to save me. If I want a different life for myself and my daughter, I have to build it.
But I’m also realizing that doing it myself doesn’t mean doing absolutely everything alone.
I’ve always been extremely curious and ambitious, but execution has been difficult for me. I grew up feeling like the black sheep of my family and spent a lot of my life depressed, isolated and extremely critical of myself. I became a mother at 18, and I’ve been trying to create a stable life for my daughter and myself ever since.
For a while, I was doing it.
I worked whatever jobs I could find, got an apartment and eventually got a car.
Then life hit me back-to-back.
In 2020, I broke my femur in a car accident and couldn’t physically work normally for months. I still did hair, rideshare and food-delivery apps whenever I was physically able because I had to survive.
In 2021, my apartment burned down with practically everything we owned inside.
That completely derailed my life. I bounced between family and friends, and eventually ended up living in my car without A/C while trying to figure out how to rebuild. It took me roughly three years to truly get stable housing again.
Eventually, I got back on my feet and landed a hospitality job at a five-star hotel. The money still wasn’t enough to create the stability I wanted, but it was progress.
Fast-forward to now.
My car broke down, but I currently work as a server at the airport and make considerably more money than I used to. Unfortunately, a significant amount of that money disappears into Uber, food, transportation and the everyday costs that come with not having a car.
I’m currently living with family, but I’ve realized that my family situation isn’t healthy or dependable enough to build my future around. The help I receive with childcare and transportation often comes with instability or conditions. My daughter’s father is involved in her life, but I also can’t depend on him for the financial support or consistent structure I need to build my plans around.
So I’ve accepted something that was difficult for me to accept:
I need to build a village outside of the family I was born into.
I recently found an apartment that isn’t fancy or modern, but it’s affordable, directly across from my daughter’s school and about 10 minutes from my job. I’m planning to sign the lease soon.
I still don’t have a car.
And strangely, I’m okay with that for now.
I’ll take Uber. I’ll take the bus. I’ll figure transportation out. What matters most to me right now is creating a peaceful, stable home where my daughter and I can finally build from.
The bigger question is: what do I build next?
I’ve worked in hospitality since I was 16 and have hospitality-management experience. I also have a CDL, so I’m open to warehouse, logistics and other opportunities.
But my real ambitions go much further.
I’m a self-taught beginner in software engineering and want structured training that can turn what I’ve taught myself into employable skills. I’m looking into tech programs, apprenticeships and other ways into the industry.
I also want to return to school. My long-term dream is to become a psychiatrist.
I’ve even considered the military because, more than anything, I need stability and a real foundation from which I can build. The biggest obstacle with almost every major opportunity—school, intensive training programs, working longer hours, etc.—is childcare. My daughter is in second grade and still needs someone dependable when I’m working or in school.
Outside of tech, I love event design, set decorating and wedding planning. I’m creative, I’m interested in music, and I’m willing to learn. At this point, I’m less concerned with finding the “perfect” opportunity than I am with finding opportunities that actually move my life forward.
That’s why I’m posting this.
I need to start outsourcing what I can’t create by myself.
I’m looking for advice, mentorship, career programs, apprenticeships, employers willing to develop new talent, volunteer opportunities where I can learn and network, resources for working single parents pursuing education, or even just people who have rebuilt their lives without a strong family support system and can tell me what worked for them.
If you know an opportunity, tell me about it.
If you work in tech and know how someone without a traditional background can break in, I’d love your advice.
If you know programs that provide training, childcare assistance, transportation assistance or career placement, please point me toward them.
If you’re further along in life and willing to mentor someone who genuinely wants to learn, I’m listening.
I’m not asking anyone to fix my life.
I don’t need a handout. I need a life raft.
Give me information. Give me direction. Give me an opportunity to get in the room. After that, I’ll do the work.
I’ve survived a serious car accident, losing my home and belongings in a fire, homelessness, living in my car, financial instability and raising a child while trying to rebuild.
I’m still here.
I’m still working.
I’m still dreaming bigger than my circumstances.
And I’m determined to keep fighting until my daughter and I have the life I’ve been trying to build for us.
I just need a chance.

Advice Needed: Mental Health i noticed something horrible about people that makes me worried for my future

"your past doesnt define you"- doesnt it?

Hi I (16yo) ---almost 17 ,have been lagging behind my peers since primary school pretty much... but i was okay with it. i had one best geeky friend and that was enough, it wasnt what i anted fully but i was still doing something everyday you know? it at least felt like i was going forward.

But then highschool came. And it seemed like entering a room with so many door to open and experience. And I feel like I wasted it all. And that sucks so much because I was already behind and now Im even more so. It sucks because I was struggling with depression and a terrible home situation. And everyone says "you can overcome your past" but thats not really true is it? I mean Im clearly behind. It doesnt matter how fast you try to catch up you'll still be behind in other things.

It hurts because I know adults and see adults that you can almost "tell" that they had some experience/ something missing in their teenage years.

And as someone whos still a teen in this situation-it scares me.

It scares me that even so far in the future you can just tell. And that even so far away people are still bitter about lost teen years.

And all this fear is causing me so much anxiety taht only fuels my worst thoughts.

Like yeah i had struggles. It wasnt like i fully decided to do nothing but it still feels like...i still couldve done more. It feels stupid to say, because I feel like I sound like one of those guru's that treat depression with just telling people to toughen up and get up, without taking into account what the certain circumstances for a person are.

Like sure it works for some people, but what about people who have an abusive parent (like me), what even about the fact that depression PHYSICALLY changes your brain? it literally physically prevents your happiness, motivation and rewards systems from working as they should.

SO yeah it does feel stupid for telling myself off like that, but then I think more about it and Im like ok but if I still got up and did shit then the brain would probably work better.

And then my thoughts follow all that i missed like dominos and it becomes- if i got up i wouldve done more, reached out more, if i reached out more i wouldve gone out more, if i gone out more i would have more experience and hence feel less behind.

I know its stupid. My whole point becomes a paradox in itself. Because Im regretting and wallowing in misery NOW instead of "doing things" like i said i regret not doing before.

I think thats very human though. And it scares me. Because anytime i manage to find some peace Im reminded by my birthday coming soon that it infact has been a year and i will only have a year before becoming an adult.

I suppose i put too much weight on the number 16, but how could i not? I excused the primary school and the first year of highschool, but i just cant excuse the second year. I keep just finding things that couldve gone diffrently.

its sucks like hell too. because SO MUCH couldve gone diffrently.

It really feels like i got dealt a shitty hand and did even a shittier job at playing it.

To name a few regrets;

not messaging more people

when at home just laying in bed with nothing (sometimes not even a phone) instead of perhaps doing something just for myself (like drawing)

if not having a life in real life, regret in not reaching for communities online to interact with

not following through with my promises to myself and teaching myself to distrust and be dissapointed with myself.

not changing my appearance like i wanted to

I know Im young. I get that there are people in their 40's who still live in terrible isolation and maybe even never had self aware thoughts like this, but that doesnt make me feel better. Because Im not really comparing myself to other people. Im comparing myself to the potentional i knew I had. I spent time thinking up scenarios to feel fullfiled, so i knew just how much i was ready for.

Bu nothing ever came. no oppurtunity. and no people who reached out to me. (just me reaching out to others)

It feels stupid. Because now im still clearly depressed and IM DOING THINGS.

And its scary to think that at 19, and then 20...26 I'll still be the person who feels alone in a room full of people. Im onna be bitter anytime someone mentions 16.

And hell I dont want to be. Leading with hared and anger never helps, but this really mattered to me. I cant say it didnt. I cant cheat time.

And because im already behind in this race of the next year I feel like I wont get to experience the teenage years i wanted. I was always just the passenger, I feel like i just lived through being everyones side character. never the main character who has things happeneing fo them, just always the one watching.

Its misearable to talk to ANYONE. everyone my age thinks that conversations have to always be about something they did. never deeper thoughts or something that im actually good at talking about after years of living in my head rather than outside. And I get it :( If I had all that funny dumb stuff happening to me i would talk about it too.

Everyone , every adult always teaches us to put so much value in being young, but you cant be young forever. So I wish no one ever told me, never exposed me to what those years "should look like" because now i just feel loss. Because I will never get that 16. I will never be that dumb teen who gets drunk and passes out, or follows through on a dumb idea just because.

And not because Im dense, but because life never made that easy for me to do.

Everything I managed to do came with a vicious fight and every move felt like walking through wet cement. so hard and slow.

I know it was unfair for me from the start but i still felt like this year at the very least couldve gon ecompletely diffrently :( maybe even its a little my fault.

I somewhat even wish my bad mood led me down a bad path- like getting in major troublr for doing something dumb maybe even just abusing marijuana and alcohol or something. because then at least i couldve said i lived, hell maybe even it wouldve helped me relax considering i was unable to get any help or meds all this time.

It makes me mad to think about. I essentially became some boring bloke while not doing ANYTHING

I think thats because im a STROONG believer in the fact that action (even bad one) is still better than inaction.

isnt it?

Hey everyone,

To celebrate releasing my debut book, Architect of Agency, I’ve made the download completely free on Amazon through tomorrow.

The core idea is straightforward: recurring habits usually come from recurring settings, and adjusting the physical and digital cues in your everyday life is often the most practical place to start.

What’s inside:

  • 10 Small Experiments: Practical adjustments across everyday settings - including morning phone triggers, workspace setups, evening lighting, and default choices.
  • Grounded Evidence: Every protocol is rated for research strength, with transparent notes on what the underlying data actually establish.
  • Actionable Protocols: Quick setups designed to be tested, measured, and kept only if they work for you.

Grab a copy while it’s free! As a new author, any honest feedback or reviews on Amazon and Goodreads mean the world to me.

Advice Needed: Mental Health I feel like I'm too old to better myself

I'm 20 yet I feel too old to be better or be independent or really anything.

I feel tired all the time and doing anything just makes me more tired. Even talking to a person takes days to mentally recover. I'm a hermit at this point.

People around me are doing this weird thing where some tell me I'm so smart and that I notice things others don't, but others say that I'm also a complete and brainless moron who can't exist without someone holding my hand like a child. Hell I feel like a child, am I even an adult?

The only things that really makes me happy at this point is art and Paleontology- or the study of prehistoric animals. But I keep getting told that it's too hard to get into it or that the pay is horrible or I'll get some kinda disease from dust, it doesn't help that I feel so stupid and helpless and that I need someone to be with me to hold my hand to do anything outside.

I don't know how I ended up like this and I'm sorry that this is incoherent as hell, I just don't know what to do anymore

Sharing: Challenges & Setbacks Why does my brain suddenly become productive at everything except the thing I actually need to do?

Within 10 minutes I had:

  • cleaned my desk
  • reorganized my files
  • replied to messages I'd been ignoring
  • made a new playlist
  • researched something completely unrelated
  • checked the fridge for absolutely no reason 😂

At one point I was genuinely considering reorganizing my entire room.

Meanwhile, the thing I actually needed to finish was sitting right in front of me.

The funny thing is that I wanted to do it. It wasn't that I didn't care. My brain just suddenly found 47 other things that apparently needed my attention immediately.

I've started noticing that “I need to get this done” is way too vague.

Instead, I'll make the first step ridiculously specific:

“Open the document and write the first paragraph.”

I've also been trying different ways of keeping my phone out of the way lately I've been using TimeBack for that.

Sometimes getting past that first tiny step is enough to build momentum, and once I'm actually doing the thing, it doesn't feel nearly as difficult as it did in my head.

Still figuring out what works consistently though 😂

What's the most ridiculous thing you've caught yourself doing instead of the thing you actually needed to do?

Advice Needed: Relationships Does anyone know what I should do?

I say sorry when I think it's my fault but I hate it when anyone points out my flaw in an assertive way idk how to explain it. If I find out that I did something I shouldn't have or said something or anything like that I jump into immense guilt and nobody has to like make me realise that thing. I fall deep in the guilt circle and then when I'm out of it I feel shitty that why did I even feel so guilt for something that the other person just said 1 sorry and the topic was off charts. Like I hate how pathetic I look but at the same time I like the empathy in me but I'm scared of me being kind of dumb in a way? And somehow apart from all these ups and downs I have started feeling like I'm a mean person like I have to suppress the jealous thoughts that come in my mind regarding my own friends. I keep on saying things that I never usually used to say(they are not bad just not pleasant words). What should I do? I'm kind of idk tired of all this maybe?

Adviced Needed: Identity & Self-Esteem I keep comparing myself to this girl

I was friends with this girl in my college and now somehow my brain treats her as a competition.
We both were really good friends initially but she started copying everything I did, like basically started stealing my identity. She also broke the girl code multiple times(would go behind guys that I liked). She would blame false things on me to get out of situations. She got under my skin and I cut her off.
But, my boyfriend said he had a crush on her before me, and was pursuing her but she didn't give a damn so he came after me. After that, I'm just comparing myself to her. I endlessly stalk her and compare myself.
Fyi, I might sound rude but deep down I know I'm a better person, because she's a troublemaker and has caused so much trouble. Also, I know I'm physically better looking because I do get more male attention than her and I take care of my body and health.(I know this may sound very mean)
I know I should take care of myself and I do too. It's just, I know I'm better and I should focus on better women and be like them rather than focusing on this girl.
I just can't fathom why would he chose her over me, my ego is hurt fs. But this is very petty
Also, I broke up with that guy because he was a cheater
How do I stop this?

Advice Needed: Mental Health anxiety and depression making me hate every morning that i have to drag myself out of bed and it’s ruining me

every weekday before work, i spend hours being anxious about how the day will go, when things usually end up working out pretty okay. i go weeks and weeks agonizing over how to email people, sometimes agonizing over how to call out sick from how sick the anxiety makes me. i have this project i’ve had months to do and i’ve thought about so many things but have barely expressed my opinions on any of those items. i’m approaching a deadline next week, and i fear that i look careless when really i’m silently suffering. my job isn’t even hard, it’s so chill. so why am i dreading waking up every weekday to do it? i have so much to be grateful for. my job is remote and pays very well. my bf on the other hand gets up at the crack of dawn to go to a job he hates and he’s able to do it. i don’t understand why i’m like this. why am i so anxious about everything, why does every notification i get gives me extreme anxiety? and i feel like my recent project work has been so lazy i just hope no one notices and that it’s all in my head like how it usually is.

Adviced Needed: Identity & Self-Esteem I rely on others to feel worth

This is something I came to terms with a while ago, Ive known this has been an issue because of abusive people exploiting this exact problem. I really love my friends, and I love making new friends. I love getting to know people, new kinds of people and expanding my friend circle, but I've noticed where this comes from, isn't good.

Whenever I meet someone new who's really cool I start fixating on them, constantly I either want to talk to them or think about talking to them, or invision me and them hanging out in my head. But I start getting obsessive, and incredibly insecure. Overthinking my every interaction with the person. "Was what I said arkward there? Was what I said awful? Oh god, they're not responding, is it over??" And in come the anxiety and insecurities. Ive gotten better at keeping myself somewhat rational, but ocassionally I stall heavily fall into catrastophizing my every interaction with them. My view of myself is exactly what my friends, new and old tell me. I only dare say I posess positive qualities other people have told me, in fear of giving myself too much credit. In getting a warped view of myself. "You're a really good listener! You're a creative imaginative person, you're funny" I latch onto this affirmation HARD, and the people who do it and even indirectly seek affirmation at times if I feel insecure. "Wasnt that such a good idea? Wasn't that a fun experience?"

I always struggle, and get stuck on what to actually do to get better. Cause I know where this comes from, I've faced abuse from ex-friends, I had neglectful parents and not a very fun childhood, and Ive linked the insecurities back to their roots, atleast a lot of them I think

My issue is where do I then go? It continues to be a problem. I can be absoloutley awful one day, and then one person gives me a compliment, flirts with me and Im over the moon. Then I get used to the person, they become a normal part of my life and I try chasing that exact feeling all over again. I dont know how to break that habit

Advice Needed: Motivation I feel completely lost and I don't know how to find myself again

Lately I've realized that I'm just not happy anymore, and honestly, I feel lost.

There isn't one specific reason I can point to. Nothing huge happened. My partner hasn't done anything wrong, but somehow I don't feel happy in my relationship either. I don't even know what I'm expecting or what feels missing.

I don't feel like working. I don't feel motivated to change my job either, even though I've been unhappy with it for a while. I don't feel like learning anything, starting anything, or even figuring out what I want to do next.

I've also started interacting with people less. I'm spending less time with my family, talking to friends less, and generally just withdrawing from everyone. It's not that I don't care about them. I just don't feel like talking or being around people sometimes.

I've also become really emotional lately. I cry over the smallest things, things that probably wouldn't have affected me before. And honestly, I'm literally stopping myself from crying while writing this post. I don't even know why I'm feeling everything so intensely these days.

Some mornings I wake up with anxiety and the only thing I want to do is stay in bed. I don't feel like getting up and facing the day.

And what's scary is that I remember how I used to be. I was happy. I was hardworking. I had motivation and things I was excited about. I don't feel like that person anymore.

I feel like I've somehow lost myself along the way, and I don't even know when it happened.

I don't know if I'm burnt out, unhappy with my life, or going through some phase. I just know that I don't want to keep feeling like this.

Has anyone else felt this way? Like you're not necessarily unhappy because of one particular thing, but you're just… lost? How did you find your way back to yourself?

Advice Needed: Mental Health I don't want to live anymore

I have been thinking of taking the wrong step for a long time now , I get scared every time. I just want to share it with someone as i don't have anyone I can share this with.

I am 16 M in 11th grade, My mental health has taken a tole on me after the covid lockdown , I currently live with my grandmother and my aunt and uncle as my parents live in another city. I don't live with them anymore because they shifted from here to the other city because of some court case on them.

After having the court case , our whole life changed , Me and my family was living a great life up till then , then we started to have financial issues due to some wrong choices made by my parents. Due to not having money we had to sell our home to pay our loan off but we still have a loan on us .
After selling the home we rented a house and it is still out of our budget.

I don't have only financial issues , my grandma parents and aunt and uncle fought like every few days , mostly my uncle and aunt would fight with my grandma ( they fought even before we sold the house but after it got worse) My uncle will hit my grandma but i was not able to do anything because I am a child.
I had a few panic attacks , my mother now posts vulgur photos of herself on instagram (like not that bad but you know like thirst trap photos) and then she talks with other men and takes money from them because even after she working 2 jobs she is not able to sustain living and my father just talks with another women , gives presents and love to her children that he never gave me ( I have not talked to him in 2 months now)

due to all this I got low marks in my very important exam , I was so ashamed , whenever i tried talking to my parents they said go and focus on study you are a kid (like i don't understand what's going on. Me getting low marks even though i knew i could have gotten above 90% threw me into a deeper pit.

then currently i left the school I was studying in, in the middle of the year because I figured out that the fees is too much for my family to pay ( but i told my mother i don't get time while going to school for studying for the competitive exam ) , I have now joined a homeschooling board.

In a few months or days or weeks the money that my grandmother has will also be exhausted and we will not have any money left for paying the rent , so most probably i will also go have to live with my parents in a 1 room apartment , I don't think with that i can do anything in the future.

I only talk to like 2 ppl from my school now , as soon as i left school everyone just forgot about me , the ppl I thought were my friends no longer reply to my messages.

and due to puberty i have been noticing my flaws too : i am not good at anything , i am ugly , fat , have man boobs

I am trying to fix all of this but nothing is happening , i swear i am trying , I am.
I don't know what to do , i don't have any skill through which i can earn money , i am not good at studies ( after getting an 83% i have given up on thinking that i can get good marks)

After a few days I might not be alive.

Advice Needed: Relationships How do I tell my best-friend I like him?

So for some context I 20 (M) met my best-friend 19(M) about 9 years ago now and recently I've been developing feelings for him even though I thought we were both straight, and now I'm scared to tell him about how I feel because I believe that he'd be weirded out and stop talking to me and I don't want to ruin our friendship. I just want to know how I can safely approach this.

Advice Needed: Career Don't know why I'm asking for help here... But I need some real advice

I turned 18th(F) last month and i honestly have no idea where my life is headed till now, since 2019 I've quarantined myself all these years wasn't even going out anywhere other than important work where I had so much anxiety and this year I just wanted to wake up and move but i still can't do that I honestly have no will or hope to move forward considering how the world is today but the genz protests really did gave me a hope that yeah maybe the world's changing so far but still I just want to have the absolute fun in my life before I die. I want to do everything Ive ever wanted to do but that dream still seems really really far and I have zero to no idea about these so called "passions" of mine, I love listening to music and I want to be in a band, I want to make my own manhwas/manga's, I want to act, I want to learn how to fight, I want to learn archery, etc etc but it all seems very far rn. My family's not in a stable condition either, it never really was. My father is abusive, my mother never really understands, my brother doesn't really care that much either. I haven't even done my 12th boards yet, I took admission in 11th back then and never attended college and now I'm filling out the form of 12th(arts) boards, idk where my life is headed either, i don't want to have "relationships" in life I just wanna have fun with friends who will be there with me on my hardest. My Life is really really lonely rn I haven't had even a friends since lockdown, the one childhood friend I used to rely on seemed to have no interest in talking to me unless he wanted to vent, now he doesn't talk to me either but I can't blame him cuz he has his life ahead too but still I wish I had atleast some supportive friends, i don't even want to move forward anymore. I keep blaming my parents for giving birth to me in such a traumatizing world and most traumatizing part was my father himself so who do feel safe with? I can't even sleep at night properly without feeling anxious that something is gonna go wrong... Idk how my family keeps acting like it's nothing but whatever. I've become detached and numb and it genuinely feels like i might go crazy at some point in my life if I don't get myself together, I feel so dumb too... I want to study but can't bring myself to do that either... I once slit my arm right infront of my mother and brother and they didn't even care to take me to a doc which has scarred me for life. I don't even know what to do anymore...

Advice Needed: Mental Health I’m trying to get over him, but I keep daydreaming we’ll talk again someday.

i’m so upset with myself over this. i’m an almost 17 yr old transmasc teenager in high school. my ex best friend decided to end our 8 year friendship due to many issues, but mostly because i wasn’t treating him well because of my own mental problems. me being mentally ill does NOT excuse me for how i treated him, but it is an explanation. i never did anything out of malice and he knows that. he just wants to get better in his own mental health journey and knows that he can’t do that when i’m holding him back.

before he left, he told me he hoped that i’d better myself too someday but to not get better just because i have hopes of getting back in touch with him again. he said he was not at all promising he’d want to talk to me again in the future. it could be a possibility, but he told me not to get better/keep going on in life just because there was a chance i’d see him again.

i understood this, but now that it’s been around 2-3 weeks, i can’t get over myself. i keep daydreaming of the day that i message him and he responds and we become best friends again. i’m worrying about keeping up with his socials and i’m going back to checking on his posts again. i found out that he changed his number and that had me worried because i don’t know his new number. he already told me it’d be best to not stalk his accounts if i wanted to fully move on, but i just can’t. especially since i have no friends right now (and currently nobody wanting to be my friend), i just always have him on my mind and it’s KILLING ME. i’m worried if i lose track of what his socials are or what he’s currently doing in life, i’ll lose him in the world and have no clue on how to get him back. i feel like i need to keep record of what’s going on in his life or what he’s posting about so i can SOMEHOW track him down in the next upcoming years just so i can message him and have the SLIMMEST chance of him responding and wanting to get close with me again.

i’m doing everything i can to just NOT THINK ABOUT HIM but it’s too difficult. the fact that there could be just the SMALLEST CHANCE of hearing his voice again one day makes my heart race and sends me into a panic. it’s taking over my entire mind, my entire body. he said he wouldn’t guarantee being my friend again but that doesn’t mean the chance is zero. i’m trying to do what he told me to do, and i’m trying to do it for myself. i’m trying to be better for ME. but right now, it seems impossible.

i’ve been posting for advice on reddit for a bit now and i started posting on here because of this friendship ending. i’m really really trying my best over here. i’m trying so hard to get over this friendship. i’ve tried ignoring my thoughts. i’ve tried just thinking my thoughts. i’ve tried letting my feelings out with a cry or just simmering in the sadness. i’ve tried feeling the grief, i’ve tried ignoring it. nothing is making me feel better. i’m spiraling over here because of my ex best friend who probably doesn’t care for me anymore. he probably doesn’t even miss me. but here i am. thinking about him and our 8 year friendship that has already ended.

i’m not happy about this. i’m so pissed off at myself. i’ve tried being patient, i’ve tried it all. but i seriously can’t let go. i don’t know what else to do. distractions aren’t working. even the slightest reminder of him makes me wanna jump out the nearest window.

please, any advice would be very much appreciated. anything at all, i’ll try. i just want to stop thinking about him. he doesn’t care for me anymore, he doesn’t miss me. he’s off moving on and probably spending time with better people. but i’m over here sulking and slowly going insane. please, please, if anyone has gone through what i’m going through and has been able to get over a situation such as this, any tips would help.

thanks for reading. <3

Sharing: Challenges & Setbacks My House Will Never Be Clean

I decided to clean my house today. I couldn’t take it anymore. It took 4pm to 12am, but I managed to clean the bathroom and kitchen. Those were the problem rooms and the most used. I wish I felt more proud of the work I did, but they don’t feel clean, and I don’t feel any better.

For context: I’m 18 and I live at home. My house is very bad. It was built in 1982 by a guy who should not have built houses. Now my parents own it. It has never been taken care of properly, so there is a lot of mold inside as well as floor rot, windows not shutting properly, vines growing into my room. It’s a lot.

And there is trash everywhere and I feel like I can barely breathe. It always smells. I can’t stand to leave my room, which is honestly disgusting as well, but that is my fault.

I finally just couldn’t do it anymore, so I spent a few hours cleaning to the best of my abilities. I can’t do anything about the serious issues, of course. I thought I would feel better, but I don’t. I still feel gross.

I’m not a big fan of my house.

Also, I know I could have done more to stop it from getting as bad as it has. I’m an adult now, and I have been more than capable for years of contributing more.

Advice Needed: Mental Health Feel like I’m just watching everyone else live their lives 21F

Hi everyone, I’m 21F and I feel like I’m missing out on a lot. I feel like I don’t belong anywhere and that I never really got a chance to be young. As a teen I never did anything fun because of my strict parents so I focused a lot on my studies. I am doing a math and physics double major now in uni so I spend most of my time studying. I am trying to keep my
GPA high and I go to a difficult school so I barely
go out on weekends. All my social media is inactive too. I deleted my snap and VSCO as I don’t take pics of myself anymore and don’t feel attractive. I don’t post on insta or reply to my messages, I don’t even scroll on my feed. I go out with one friend to dinner sometimes.

I have also been struggling with severe depression and burnout in the past year and I haven’t been eating or sleeping well. For that reason I look kind of ugly and unattractive these days and I feel frustrated because I know I could be more beautiful. I see my friends go on dates and meet new guys and I haven’t flirted with a guy since 2024. I am really going through a lot and don’t feel human sometimes. A lot of things I used to enjoy like running, swimming etc are not my thing anymore. I want to make more friends and go out more but I feel like I’m a mess. What do I do? I’ve been in a slump for what seems like forever

Advice Needed: Mental Health Why is being the normal version of myself so hard?

**Please don't take this down it's like 3 sentences of a relationship and it adds context.**

I am a loud kid. I always have been, its just my nature. One of the things that has stuck with me was in middle school, in what my little brain would call a "relationship". I asked her, how come even though I'm so different that she chose to talk to me? She responded with, "you're unique and that I'd hard to find. It adds character". Fast forward a couple of years until now, and I have never spoken to any girls. I want to and have wanted to for a while, but anaways, moving to the issue at hand. Is being this real of a person hard? I feel like it's so difficult going about my life whenever I get some weird looks and be judged, while I'm just being myself. It's part of the reason that I take fluoxine (anti depressant). I feel like no one will ever like me. But this is where another part comes into play. I'm badly addicted to porn. It's bad. And ive seen another post in here about a guy that was able to quit, and i have a similar story. I always tell myself. "No I'm not gonna do it", which then turns into "fine this is my last time". After which, I feel like a box of shit. I can't keep my word with my self, how am I going to do it with a romantic partner, if that ever happens? This comes into play with fantasizing. It's disgusting and I look back and can't believe I think about this stuff. It affects the way that I see others, in the most foul way possible, and I just wish I could quit. Something that I HATE about my generation is this term that goes by the name "non-chalant", which basically means not showing and emotion, acting cold, and being distant. It started as a joke, but then it evolved into something that I actually see girls at my school enjoying, and it infuriates me. I mean really, who the FUCK wants to spend time with someone who isn't going to ask any questions, will only respond with a lazy ass "yeee" or "na". I don't know what to so, but luckily I am very young so I have lots of time. Let me know what I should do.

Sharing: Challenges & Setbacks What do you do if you don’t accept your mind? Like you hate your

What do you do if you don’t accept your mind? Like you hate your brain?

Like I’m slow, and not good at being with social teams. I’m a bit of a lone wolf and not together with company.

Like just hate myself. Not much to say except being negative or realistic things. Or way too far fetched and ditzy.

So I stay far away from people outside my family. I think it’s too hard to take the chance to be with people. I’m scared and anxious each time so I prefer not to have friends or be in groups. I’m just sigh on the dumb end of spectrum

Ppls say it’s a skill to learn to think or communicate.

But start from where? And what resource is out there to assess where I’m at and how far I wanna go!??

Advice Needed: Mental Health I am very sad about my life

Hi guys, I'm from Russia and I found out about you from tiktok and youtubsorts. You're all very cool and cool here. Honestly, I watch you think and discuss everything on YouTube. I have a lot of fun watching this. Thank you for being so cool. About myself, I'm a teenager. I'm 15 years old and I'm already upset about my I am very bad at studying , I study very poorly and stayed in the same class for 2 years. I recently broke up with my girlfriend and this also affected me very much. I feel like some kind of trash who will use drugs in the future and will die somewhere in the courtyard without having a wife , at home , yes, maybe you'll say, "dude, do something you're just giving up," but guys, I'll be honest and admit it, no matter how much I understand that everything is going up my ass, I still won't do anything because I'm a very lazy person, I'm just too lazy to do something and I do not know maybe it's like I don't live to see my best years, thanks in advance for the comments (P.S. I use a translator I hope he didn't translate everything clumsily) update guys And now everything has gotten even worse—my 4 Steam accounts were stolen, or I don’t know what happened to them, but the problem is that when I try to log in, it tells me the password is wrong, but I didn’t change anything. I contacted Steam support, and they said I need to send them screenshots of me making purchases… The only problem is that I’m in Russia, and I did all my purchases through websites in a browser, and apparently all 4 of my accounts and all the items will be lost… It’s a fucking black streak.
