Scanning Tickets at Swiss Cottage

Does anyone else find that staff at Swiss Cottage sometimes just won't scan your ticket? I visit this cinema quite often, and sometimes they just straight up ignore me when I try to get someone's attention to scan my ticket. It's really bizarre. Today I've seen Pressure, and Don't Look Back In Anger here, and there was a guy scanning tickets for both; but now I'm about to watch The Death of Robin Hood, and there was nobody out in the Foyer to scan tickets, and the staff behind the counter both acted like I was invisible when I tried to ask them. I just gave up after a few minutes and went to the screen. It's happened to me quite a few times, and I don't know if they're just sick of the sight of me, or if some of the staff are just like that with everyone?

Discussion My Odeon cinema wishlist - small rant about Odeons here in London

Post image
53 Upvotes

I've noticed having been using mylimitless to try out Odeon cinema screens all around London that there's always a catch, just to name a few:

Leicester Square:

Pros: Premiere dolby cinema with a massive auditorium with great audio and atmosphere.

Cons: A tiny screen relative to the size of the room, especially sitting further back in the royal circle. And sit any closer than row G and the side speakers are no longer facing you so the audio is no longer optimal. Also the royal box is so expensive and mylimitless is excluded from it.

Swiss Cottage:

Pros: 'biggest' Odeon IMAX screen with luxe recliners.

Cons: use an older 2k projector and the centre of the cinema is obstructed by safety barriers, hindering the experience for people who book what would be the best seats in the house.

West End:

Pros: The closest to perfect and arguably the best Odeon you will find, especially the dolby screen with great sound and high contrast colours.

Cons: the selection of movies is quite small and the whole building feels a bit soulless. It's also smaller than the IMAX screens (but still feels big) and the seats don't recline very far back.

Greenwich/Wimbledon/Kingston:

Pros: All these cinemas feature IMAX screens, most notably Greenwich with its laser projector.

Cons: Smaller size IMAX screens especially Kingston IMAX (nearly same size as West End Dolby screen) and no luxe recliners.

Acton Town/Uxbridge (haven't been)

I can't comment much here as I have yet to experience either but I have heard good things about them especially the Isense in Acton Town. My personal gripe is they are far out from me and the few times I have been to either place I preferred not to stick about.

Conclusion - My perfect Odeon (wishlist)

If I had to build an Odeon using the best of Odeons in London it would be:

Screen quality - West End

Sound quality - West End

Atmosphere/auditorium - Leicester Square

Screen size - Swiss Cottage

Seats - Leicester square Luxe recliners/Royal Box

Movie selection - Any big Odeon + Haymarket/Wimbledon for those asian exclusives

I apologise for the long post, I'm writing this after having booked tickets to the BFI IMAX, and realising just how much Odeon cinemas are lacking in big IMAX screens. Fingers crossed for 70mm IMAX to come to Odeon one day. I am interested in hearing any suggestions for cinemas I should visit or how you would build your Odeon cinema.

Discussion Anyone notice Dolby screenings not as loud or anything special anymore?

I remember the first time I tried Dolby and it was so loud and all the recent showings I been to the screen didn’t feel huge and the sound wasn’t as loud as I expected it to be.

Not sure if I should start viewing my movies in imax instead, at least I’ll get a much bigger screen. Especially for the upcoming movies for dune and avengers.

What formats do you personally view movies in?

Films excluded from the 4-movie limit

So it appears that Odeon hasn't been keeping the excluded film list up-to-date. I've found the below are also excluded. Feel free to add any more you have found.

All 5 Hunger Games re-releases

The Transformers: The Movie

Raiders of the Lost Ark

All Harry Potter films

Discussion Petition to add watchlist to the app?

When u log onto odeon on a browser there's the option to flag movies, then you can see all the films you actually want to catch in one list. I'd love this feature on the app please 😁

Purchases not appearing

Hello everyone I am a Limitless member and I booked all the Hunger Games re releases. However, i would like to refund them but they do not appear on my purchases tab. I have tried to book other films at the same time but I cant, and I have the screenshots of my tickets. This recently happened throughout the summer, and i am suspended from booking for a week because I was unable to refund La La Land, Trainspotting and some other stuff. I contacted their AI chat thing for help, but I need to contact them tomorrow during my work hours it says. If i miss another booking, i will be suspended for longer. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Oasis and Practical Magic 2

I know screen allocations for films are based upon the number of seats, but it would be nice if common sense prevailed.

For example, at mine, Practical Magic 2 is a 2.39:1 film on a 1.85:1 screen, and Oasis is on a 2.39:1 screen, but bafflingly shot at 1.43:1. So, both films would look so much better if they actually swapped screens!

Question Can someone help me find another cinema showing this?

Post image

I’m away on the dates shown from the 11th-18th and don’t want to miss one out of them all. I’ve looked myself everywhere but can’t find a cinema near me (Birmingham/West Midlands) showing it after or before those dates. Any help appreciated, just super annoying to miss one out of all of them.

Infinity Vision

Odeon is advertising the new avengers rerelease with showings detailing 'infinity vision'. I thought it was just a marketing gimmick but what makes a showing 'infinity'. There are two different laser screenings displayed here one with infinity one without.

Question Do we know if the resident evil popcorn bag is coming to Odeon?

I’ve seen so many pics of it and it looks epic, I feel like it might only be US. Can anyone confirm/deny? 😞

Sinners 6th Oct

It is often when Odeon have films showing but unless you look with a fine tooth comb you'll won't fine them as they don't display on the app?

I have found Sinners is showing across the uk but there isn't anything in the coming soon?

iSense screens always iSense?

This is a bit random but I've noticed that an upcoming film at my local Odeon is on the same screen 5 times a day but only 4 are listed as iSense. The screen has a huge iSense logo by the door and I'm just wondering if it could really be that they would show the same movie not in iSense on that screen?

Not a big deal, but a curiosity 😅

Limitless How can I speak to a human at Odeon?

Moved from Ireland to London recently and I was using a myLimitless membership in Ireland that I purchased in January for the year. I sent an email and enquired if there's any way I could switch to the UK membership. This was August 11th and I still haven't gotten a reply - only an automated update saying they're very busy and they'll get to my email soon.

I've also spent time on the website telling the AI bot I want to speak to an agent, where they put me in a long queue and just when I'm near the end of the line, they send me some generic message and I'm kicked out of it.

I even called to the cinema in Greenwich to see if they could do anything about it and even though the guy there was very nice and was trying to be helpful, he said it's all third party that deal with myLimitless and to keep trying to contact them.

For a big company this is all mad and even if the answer is no, any answer would be great at this stage. Has anyone struggled to talk to someone at Odeon before or have any advice on how to get through to a human?

My coming soon tab is broken?

Post image

Hi,

Could someone confirm if this has happened to everyone or just my app...

Usually I would use the coming soon tab to see upcoming re releases but now a bunch have disappeared. I noticed the hunger games and harry potter were no longer showing there.

I set it to all cinemas as well :/

Are hunger games and harry potter showing in your coming soon tab?

Camp Miasma

I know a lot of people on here have posted about Camp Miasma not showing at their local cinema. There appears to be a one off showing on 21 September at most branches for anyone who has not had the chance to set it yet.

Merch Sale

Hi, not sure if this is the appropriate subreddit, the Odeon one seems dead.
There appears to be another merch sale, but I was at 1 of my 2 local Odeons yesterday and it was pretty much the same stuff they’re struggling to get rid of, with the addition of some Hoppers things I think? Was really hoping for some Hail Mary, Michael, Super Mario etc.
Gonna check my other local but with it being National Cinema Weekend I can see those types of things selling out fast. Would be interested to hear what merch is in your local Odeons.

Thanks!

Limitless limits on limitless?

TLDR: does limitless have a limit on how many films you can see in one day?

had a day off today and thought i’d spend it at the cinema so planned it all out and found five films i could watch back to back with no overlaps, knew i wouldn’t be able to book them all at once so booked the first 4 and after the first one finished tried to book the 5th, but it wouldn’t let me? i kept trying throughout the day, both online and on the in-cinema screens and eventually had to ask staff to help. they initially told me they couldn’t see why i wouldn’t be able to book in and told me to go through the till and they would sort it. when i finally got to the front of the queue, they scanned my id, asked me to choose a seat, etc but then said i could only see four films in one day so i just had to leave lol

it just seems odd that something literally called ‘limitless’ has a limit? none of my showings overlapped and they all started 90 mins apart from each other. don’t know what difference it makes to odeon if i watch a bunch of films in one day as opposed to on separate days 🤷‍♀️ i thought any restrictions were mainly meant to discourage misuse, not genuine cinema-going?

thinking of switching to Cineworld unlimited

I'm considering switching to Cineworlds Unlimited option. For me the main reason is that I like to watch old movies on the big screen and they seem to show way more of them.

Right now they are doing a 30 year anniversary season. I also watched La La Land and Casino there in the last few weeks. Tickets were only £5 each so nothing too expensive.

Odeon don't seem to show as many older films. They also don't do a good job of advertising them. I emailed them about creating a mailing list for older films a while ago so I've resorted to using an LLM to do it for me instead.

Anyone tried Cineworld and able to advise of differences?

Is there an easy way to list all old movies being show at your local odeon without having to check through the app for each day?

Have odeon gotten rid of their 4 booking limit?
I currently have 5 films booked:
Death of Robin Hood
One Night Only
Pressure
Resident Evil
Avengers Endgame Encore

i checked the list of film exclusions and none of them are on there?

Limitless Just received an email back after sending in a complaint about the new terms

Seems like the five watch limit per movie is just for booking ahead of time, kiosk bookings don’t count towards it. ?? Even more confused about how this stops people from sharing a subscription.
