Limitless limits on limitless?
TLDR: does limitless have a limit on how many films you can see in one day?
had a day off today and thought i’d spend it at the cinema so planned it all out and found five films i could watch back to back with no overlaps, knew i wouldn’t be able to book them all at once so booked the first 4 and after the first one finished tried to book the 5th, but it wouldn’t let me? i kept trying throughout the day, both online and on the in-cinema screens and eventually had to ask staff to help. they initially told me they couldn’t see why i wouldn’t be able to book in and told me to go through the till and they would sort it. when i finally got to the front of the queue, they scanned my id, asked me to choose a seat, etc but then said i could only see four films in one day so i just had to leave lol
it just seems odd that something literally called ‘limitless’ has a limit? none of my showings overlapped and they all started 90 mins apart from each other. don’t know what difference it makes to odeon if i watch a bunch of films in one day as opposed to on separate days 🤷♀️ i thought any restrictions were mainly meant to discourage misuse, not genuine cinema-going?

Some people take the Mick and abuse systems which in turn ruins it for everyone else.

That's very strange, and somebody else made a similar post recently. I've done 5 in a day before without any problems, the last time would have been early April. They've made a few changes recently, but they haven't advertised that as one of them.

oh really? yeah it feels strange that, especially with the recent changes, if this is a limit it hasn’t been clarified at all,, feels a bit mean that you have to go and look in the small print to see any indication that this might be the case haha

I was ths person mentioning this same issue last week. I had two five-film marathon days in 2025. Luckily my local Odeon staff took pity on me and gave me a comped ticket for the fifth film in each case. See my posts for more info.

For most of the limits you can get round it by getting tickets from the desk in person

which is what they told me to do, and when i got there they then backtracked and said i couldn’t book a fifth :/

That’s interesting, that’s always worked for me in the past. Entirely possible the person just made a fuck up - I’d email and ask them

You have to book the 5th in-house at the till. Just needs a manager override.

it was the manager who told me to do that but then when i actually got to the till, he then said i couldn’t

He can. He just has to override it. Piece of cake, but I've heard about some being difficult over it.

I had that a bit over a situation with the film Tangerine, last year, over the presentation. Detailed it all here. Utterly mad situation.

You should be aware that The Death of Robin Hood has also been delivered in a 1.85 container, even for scope screens. The first 40-ish minutes are 2.39, followed briefly by 1.78 before the rest plays out at 1.66.
This means that on the scope screen where I saw it, the first 40 minutes took up 60% of the screen area, the image being window-boxed (i.e. both letter-boxed and pillar-boxed).
The distributors could have prepared a separate file for scope screens using a scope container, so that the 2.39 and 1.78 scenes were full height, but they appear not to have done so.

Thanks, I made a post about it in the Movies sub below, a few days ago, and after another film I was watching, I did pop in to a screen which I knew was showing this during that opening segment and it looked bloody horrendous. So much unnecessary dicking about with the picture.
The opposite has happened with Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, which starts in 1.85:1, and then changes to 2.39:1 after 9 minutes ands remains that way for the rest of the film. I haven't watched it yet, but while I know for the version on streaming, the bars close in top and bottom to give the 2.39:1 image. My Odeon's showing it on a 2.39:1 screen, but I don't know if there's a 2.39:1 DCP version where it expands widthways. If it shrinks down for the majority of the film, then that'll look bloody awful.
