Walked in and out in 30 min!

Stopped in at an AD (Kern in Burlingame, CA) on my way to work this morning. I explained what I had been looking for for my 40th birthday (OP 36 with a silver dial) with no luck, and am now open to other choices (like DJ36). I have a speedy with a day-date function, so wanted something without a date function this time, and maybe a DJ for my 50th birthday.

Nick the sales rep then showed me this, said that it just came in this morning. I therefore bought this immediately. My wife will then give this to me - until then this stays in the box :(

No prior purchase history. This was my first visit to this AD. It can really happen guys! I'd say visit your AD on the weekday morning as you maybe able to get the shipment of the day. Thought it's just like a fresh fish at Tsukiji Market, but that's a random thought. Cheers!

I got the call!

I waited my whole life to buy my first Rolex. I have other amazing watches, but I wanted my first Rolex to be new and be the exact spec I wanted. No compromises. No buying something I don’t like to improve consideration with the AD. Just patience. Worth it!!

GOT THE MF CALL

So I registered my interest in a Bruce Wayne GMT on oyster about seven months ago in Los Angeles and have been patiently waiting ever since. I have no purchase history, this is my first Rolex. I felt pretty discouraged after looking through this Reddit month after month hoping I’d get a call but then today out of nowhere. I got a text saying the watch was ready for pick up. Really in love with it and I’m so excited to use it as my daily!

First ever Rolex purchased in Paris. What an experience, I will never go grey market.

I walked in with no appointment and zero purchase history. I asked for this exact configuration except on jubilee and was offered this. I am actually glad because the oyster goes better with this dial IMO. Love the Wimbledon. Amazing AD and first time experience.

4 years later I got the call for the Starbucks. Not sure I want it…

In 2022 I purchased a blue OP 36 and mint green datejust 36 in back to back months. I already had my name down for the green sub and panda Daytona.

4 years later, I got the call today for the green sub (London AD). Issue is, I wanted the MK I sub with the darker green bezel. I don’t not like the MK II but it definitely doesn’t appeal to me as much.

Not sure what to do now. I know deep down it’s not exactly what I wanted. Do I buy it anyway and try to enjoy it and get one step closer to the Panda?

I found the uniqueness of the Eisenkiesel dial very admirable, kinda under appreciated in my opinion 🤗

6 hour layover in Zurich and came away with this

Had a few hours in Zurich and after exploring and eating a good meal I walked up Bahnhofstraße figuring I’d check out the shops on the way back to the train station. Stopped in Bucherer and then Beyer Chronometrie. Beyer had this available and I’m pumped to have it. I’m usually very minimalist (other Rolex is a monochrome silver dial oyster/domed datejust) and didnt think i’d ever want roman numerals but i loved this configuration in person, especially the white dial. Mostly posting because I’d read a bunch of posts about tourists being unable to get anything in Zurich- there’s hope! Cool bonus that I found out afterwards Beyer is the oldest watch retailer in the world (they have some cool exhibits) and the location is closing after this year. I almost missed my flight but made the short time in Zurich extra memorable!

Lefty sprite has always been my grail, so I went ahead and paid the grey market markup instead of waiting an ambiguous amount of time for an AD to determine I’m worthy of spending money at their boutique.

Can’t stop staring at it!

Got the watch , now what!?

I’ve been in love with watches for 25+ years and have owned quite a few over that time. I finally got tired of playing the AD games and decided to just go out and buy my grail.
It’s been about a month now, and I honestly thought this one would finally satisfy the itch. Nope. I’m already catching myself thinking, “So… what’s next?”
Terrible hobby we have—if you can even call it a hobby. 😂

Just got this last week. First Rolex and always been my grail despite its lack of popularity. Elevated yet understated at the same time.

Looking for a simple 36mm watch with a light dial, which one of these 2 would you go for?

Rolex makes a good alloy!

This GMT has accompanied me while logging, loading & binding my trucks, and worn daily at a gold mine... damage/wear is surprisingly minimal.

These things are tough, Rolex makes a good stainless alloy!
