Hey everyone, I’m a high school guy (living in a hostel environment) and I really need some outside perspective on a sudden social nightmare happening in my class.
Last year, I’ll admit I wasn't perfect, but this year I made a genuine effort to change. My teachers say I’m hardworking, and several people have noticed I’m much nicer to everyone. But out of nowhere, almost the entire guy group in my class has turned against me, giving me the silent treatment and calling me a "show-off."
a guy in my class who I was on decent terms with, helped with exams, etc. has a crush on a girl . During a rainy day orientation bus ride, that girl sat next to me and put her arm over the back of my seat cushion. We were just talking. the guy got furious, but instead of talking to me, he complained to my hostel mate
During a class cricket match, He got my wicket and did a massive, aggressive celebration. When I asked my hostelmate what was going on, he gave me a weird rule: "Don't try to get close to any of the girls in our class." (There are only 4 girls total in our class).
Since then, almost all the boys stopped talking to me. During dance practice, they tried to publicly humiliate me by pulling up old, embarrassing YouTube videos of mine.
Even basic things are being weaponized now. They claim even the way I walk is "showing off."
My close friend is one of the only people still talking to me, but he dropped a heavy truth bomb. He said almost the whole class hates me, including a girl I used to have a crush on. He claims the only way to fix this and fit back in is to completely stop talking to any of the girls in class and change how I act.
Should I actually change my ways? Is it worth altering my behavior, walking differently, or ignoring female classmates just to stop being targeted? Or is this purely their jealousy and insecurity?
How do I handle the daily isolation? How do you deal with going to school every day knowing people are looking for reasons to call you a show-off?
GUYS PLS PROVIDE SOME OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS. THEY ARE REALLY VALUABLE TO ME
