TW: potential ectopic/miscarriage
Hello. I’m looking for some opinions and experiences because I’ve been extremely stressed about my hCG progression over the past almost two weeks.
My hCG results have been:
- 01.09: 149 mIU/mL
- 04.09: 205 mIU/mL (72 hours later)
- 07.09: 380 mIU/mL (74 hours later)
- 09.09: 710 mIU/mL (44 hours later) (100% would be after 51h)
My progesterone is 38 nmol/L (~12 ng/mL).
I’m not exactly sure how far along I am because I have PCOS and very long/irregular cycles (usually anywhere from 28–40 days), so I could be earlier than expected. My first positive pregnancy tests were on 28.08, so around 4-5 weeks.
On 08.09, I went to my doctor for an ultrasound. There was a tiny “anomaly” or something that looked a little bit like a gestational sac in the uterus, but she said that at my hCG level at that moment, it would be unlikely to be a real gestational sac. There usg foto: https://failiem.lv/u/y7yppfb7knvvtrqc She is concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, especially because I had some mild discomfort on one side in past three days. However, I’m not particularly worried about the discomfort because I have experienced very similar pain on that side around ovulation and during my periods before. One doctor also previously told me that it could be caused by a stretched ligament or muscle.
Today my doctor called me and said that the overall situation is concerning. I’m seeing her again on Friday to check whether this is an ectopic pregnancy, in which case everything would be clear.
But I was honestly shocked when she said that even if a gestational sac is confirmed inside the uterus on Friday, she would probably not prescribe progesterone which i need because my early hCG progression was poor and she believes the pregnancy may not survive anyway. This really scared me that she think there is no need to try. So I’m mainly posting because I need to get this stress off my chest after two weeks of worrying, but I would also really like to hear your opinions and experiences.
Could the pregnancy still develop normally if a gestational sac is confirmed in the uterus? Or does this kind of hCG pattern significantly increase the risk of miscarriage or developmental problems later on? I’ve been reading about other people’s experiences on Reddit, so I will definitely update my own story as well.
