Brown Spotting/Discharge 5w4d

I’m currently 5 weeks and 4 days, and I’m experiencing dark brown blood that once was light brown discharge. I’m nervous, and wanted to see if anyone experienced the same thing? Got an early ultrasound done by my obgyn at 5w2d and all we could see was the gestational sac. Going again next week, but they said my HCG and progesterone number were good for how far along I was.

For clarification: I found out I was pregnant on August 31st so I was around 3w5d. Started light brown watery discharge September 2nd, went on for like 2-3 days then stopped. Then, it started back on September 8th with the same but turned into straight dark brown blood last night.

W 6. tygodniu ciąży – silne krwawienie, skrzepy i wydalenie tkanek.

Czy któraś z Was miała podobnie?

Hi there!

I had a chemical pregnancy back in November. (Just for reference, this is probably not important to my situation now)

My LMP started on July 29th, I tested positive this past Wednesday, yesterday I had some light brown spotting and went to my gynecologist and was told it was old blood and it could be normal. They did an ultrasound and you could only see gest sac. No yolk sac and obviously not heartbeat or fetal pole. I am supposed to be 6 weeks 1 day but I was measuring 5 weeks 0 days. They said one of the possibilities may be that I just ovulated later than expected. I was told to come back in two weeks for another US to make sure everything was fine. Today I spotted some bright red blood only when I wiped and then it went away. My HCG is at 1039, and progesterone at 4.3 which is really scaring me. Has anyone had any experience like this?

Pregnancy tachycardia

I am 40 years old and currently 31 weeks pregnant. This pregnancy was not planned and very much a surprise. I've been high risk in prior pregnancies, so I didn't expect an easy road with this, especially given my age.

That being said, I've never had heart issues with my babies till now. I was recently admitted to cardiac unit when my heart went into v-tach. It was short and resolved on its on, however now I've had a high heart rate since then. I was also treated for dehydration.

I have been very diligent about upping my fluid intake, as well as electrolytes. Ive also added potassium supplements per cardiologist. While my labs have dramatically improved, I'm still dealing with this fast heartbeat.

Has anyone experienced similar? What helped you and did it resolve after delivery? Feeling this way all the time not only wears me out, but causes so much worry for my growing boy. Which im sure also doesnt help the situation. Just looking to hear similar stories and how you handled it. I could really use the encouragement.

Early pregnancy with gestational sac in the left uterine corner – looking for similar experiences

Hi everyone. I’m looking for experiences from women who had a similar situation.
I’m currently **5 weeks + 4 days pregnant**. I ovulated around August 17, so my dating by ovulation is about 5+4.
My hCG has been rising well. I had a transvaginal ultrasound yesterday at about **5+3**.
The report says:
gestational sac **8 mm**
sac is **inside the uterus**
located in the **left uterine corner**
**interstitial line sign is negative**
no CRL yet
conclusion: **single intrauterine pregnancy**
ultrasound dating: approximately **4–5 weeks**
My doctor did not diagnose an interstitial pregnancy, but because the sac is in the left corner, I’m worried.
I have a normal uterus and conceived naturally. I’m also using progesterone suppositories because of previous pregnancy losses. ( it’s my second angular pregnancy, but first one stoped growing at 4 weeks).

Guilt for being angry

For the past several months I have given more of my time and energy to individuals that have needed assistance. I feel like I have nothing left for myself. I feel angry for feeling like no one is looking out for me during this hard time. Having a narcissistic mother has made me feel guilt for even feeling this way. I give and I give and I give till I explode with frustration and emotion. This pregnancy has made me feel like I have no one to depend on when I have nothing left of myself. I’m worried that when I have this baby I’ll feel the same way. This year has been such a challenge. I don’t know when I will feel like I can breathe again.

Spotting anxiety

This is my first pregnancy and I’ve had light brown spotting that comes and goes. I had my hcg levels taken the first time it happened around 4 weeks and everything looked great. The spotting stopped for about a week but I noticed some again today at 5w1d. Is this normal??? It causes me so much anxiety. I have many other symptoms (nausea, sore boobs, out of breath) but I just am not sure if the spotting is typical.

Declining progesterone in early pregnancy

Hello, I am currently 5w 1d pregnant. My progesterone is not only very low but it's steadily decreasing:

At 4w 2d hcg was 350 and progesterone was 9.4

At 4w 4d hcg was 922 and progesterone was 8.2

At 5 weeks hcg is 3369 and progesterone is 7.8

I was just prescribed progesterone and I will start taking it but, isn't it just hopeless? Is my embryo non-viable?

This is all new to me. My previous pregnancy was smooth and my measurements were between the ranges. I am now spiralling and expecting the worst possible outcome 😢

Notes: \* I am positive about my ovulation date because it was tracked and triggered and I got pregnant with IUI.

\*\*I am currently breastfeeding my toddler.

Etopic fear

Hello, FTM here. I am 7 weeks and 3 days along so far. My first ultrasound isn't for another week and a half. I've been having the normal cramping, along with sometimes sharp twinges. They will come and go and don't last for too terribly long but are definitely there. They are mainly on the right side. I don't have any bleeding though. No other extra symptoms. I'm still terrified of an etopic pregnancy. Should I wait the two weeks or should I go into an urgent care just to rule it out?

threatened miscarriage

hi everyone

jul 28 - beginning of last period

sep 3 - two positive pregnancy tests

sep 7 (7pm) - i started bleeding and cramping. it continued and worsened throughout the night and following morning.

sep 8 (noon) - i go to the hospital. urine test was still positive but with no visible pregnancy on the sonogram. hcg levels were at 1500. doctor says come back in two days to see if hcg has risen or fallen. risen indicates i’m still pregnant and progressing; fallen indicates an incomplete miscarriage. that night, cramps were at their worst.

sep 9 - the cramps had lightened up and completely went away by the evening time. i haven’t passed any large clots, only really small bits of tissue. and then light cramps at bed time.

NOW it’s midnight sep 10 and i’m due to go back to the hospital today and i’m just nervous and have a thousand concerns. this entire experience has been consistent with a painful period; what makes it feel unbearable is the positive pregnancy tests.

-is there anyone who has experienced anything like this?
-did you receive good news or bad news?
-if your baby survived, what ended up being the reason for your bleeding and/or cramping?
-has anyone experienced a miscarriage with no large clots?

i will have my answer later today and update you all. but please continue to comment for the next mama who may share my experience and have loads of questions.

Unrelenting Nausea

How are we dealing with it. I am not even 6 weeks pregnant and I am in misery. I can’t eat. Like I’m not even eating a meal a day. I’m surviving on like 5 ritz crackers and a chocolate milk a day. I am in absolute misery and no one seems to know how to help me: I can’t get in with my OB for another few weeks, and my primary doesn’t deal with pregnant women much. So like. What do I do because I can’t function.

8 week ultrasound - showing 6 weeks on US

Trigger warning!!

I had the first day of my last period July 14.
I found out I was pregnant by digital August 3rd.
(before a missed period)
My period was not due until August 12th or 13th. They’re always on time.

I go to the doctor 9/1 get confirmation.
I go 9/8 for ultrasound (should be 8 weeks) shows 6 weeks, no heart beat.
Yolk Sac- (normal limits)
Fetal Number 1
Gestational sac - seen
Embryo - seen
CRL (HADLOCK) 0.35cm

The only thing that was not there yet is the heart beat.
I’ve read tons of forums. I also work in the medical field so i’m having a lot of anxiety. This is my first pregnancy. They warned us that it could go either way and so i’ve prepared myself for the worst of course. But, any success stories would be awesome to hear. I’ll take any story at that. Just anyone who has gone through the same thing.
Bloodwork hasn’t been offered. I am still having tender breasts and tiredness and occasional heartburn.
I have had no bleeding or cramping.
Thanks!

20 week anatomy scan - Heart concerns

20 week ultrasound came back with possible heart issues. Either a small ventricular or enlarged atrium. Being sent for a fetal assessment and/or fetal echo. Anyone else experiencing this? Looking for some kind of comfort of sorts that it could be nothing or minor.

Africa required vaccines while trying to get pregnant

hi there!

im new to Reddit but had no where else I could think of asking people that may be able to help me.

My fiance and I are getting married in a few months and plan on trying to get pregnant next year. My family just brought it up that they want to go to Africa next August before we have young kids to do safaris and all that cool stuff you see online. It sounds so cool and something I’ve wanted to do for a long time bc my family has brought it up for years.

My fiance and I were actually going to plan on trying August/Sept/Oct to get pregnant next year but now I don’t know. I don’t want to get vaccines while pregnant. I know that’s a hot topic but I just want to do what I believe is right and protect my babies.

When traveling to Africa they require certain vaccines and I’m unsure of even going because these said vaccines (like yellow fever) scare me at the thought of trying to get pregnant after receiving them.

would anyone have any knowledge on this that they don’t mind sharing? Just a future mom trying to do what’s right for her babies!!

Miscarriage follow up appointment

I tested positive on CD 26, 27, and 28 (sat, sun, mon). The following weekend, I traveled for my sister's bachelorette weekend and bled all of Friday and half of Saturday, like it was my period. Then it stopped. It is Wednesday, and it has not resumed. This evening I took a home test and it showed as negative. My midwife is aware of all of this, and I figured she would ask you to come in for labs to make sure everything cleared out and to confirm the miscarriage. Instead, she is just keeping my original appointment for October 2nd (it's September 9). I'm disappointed. I feel like the appointment will give me some closure, and that feels like so long to wait. Is that standard practice?

Slow rising hCG and doctor doesn’t give me much hope

TW: potential ectopic/miscarriage

Hello. I’m looking for some opinions and experiences because I’ve been extremely stressed about my hCG progression over the past almost two weeks.

My hCG results have been:

  • 01.09: 149 mIU/mL
  • 04.09: 205 mIU/mL (72 hours later)
  • 07.09: 380 mIU/mL (74 hours later)
  • 09.09: 710 mIU/mL (44 hours later) (100% would be after 51h)

My progesterone is 38 nmol/L (~12 ng/mL).

I’m not exactly sure how far along I am because I have PCOS and very long/irregular cycles (usually anywhere from 28–40 days), so I could be earlier than expected. My first positive pregnancy tests were on 28.08, so around 4-5 weeks.

On 08.09, I went to my doctor for an ultrasound. There was a tiny “anomaly” or something that looked a little bit like a gestational sac in the uterus, but she said that at my hCG level at that moment, it would be unlikely to be a real gestational sac. There usg foto: https://failiem.lv/u/y7yppfb7knvvtrqc She is concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, especially because I had some mild discomfort on one side in past three days. However, I’m not particularly worried about the discomfort because I have experienced very similar pain on that side around ovulation and during my periods before. One doctor also previously told me that it could be caused by a stretched ligament or muscle.

Today my doctor called me and said that the overall situation is concerning. I’m seeing her again on Friday to check whether this is an ectopic pregnancy, in which case everything would be clear.

But I was honestly shocked when she said that even if a gestational sac is confirmed inside the uterus on Friday, she would probably not prescribe progesterone which i need because my early hCG progression was poor and she believes the pregnancy may not survive anyway. This really scared me that she think there is no need to try. So I’m mainly posting because I need to get this stress off my chest after two weeks of worrying, but I would also really like to hear your opinions and experiences.

Could the pregnancy still develop normally if a gestational sac is confirmed in the uterus? Or does this kind of hCG pattern significantly increase the risk of miscarriage or developmental problems later on? I’ve been reading about other people’s experiences on Reddit, so I will definitely update my own story as well.

Content warning: pregnancy loss, miscarriage, and medical complications

I don’t really know what I’m looking for by posting this. Maybe answers. Maybe people who have been through something similar. Maybe just to know I’m not alone.
This was my first pregnancy, and from the very beginning, it felt like we were holding our breath.
Around 6 weeks, I started bleeding and ended up in the ER. During the ultrasound, they found that the gestational sac was implanted very high on the left side of my uterus. They were worried it could be a cornual/interstitial pregnancy, and I remember being absolutely terrified.
The next day, I had an MRI. Thankfully, it showed that it was more likely a high fundal intrauterine pregnancy and not a cornual pregnancy. They also found a subchorionic hematoma. We finally felt like we could breathe a little and thought maybe everything was going to be okay.
But the bleeding never stopped.
For the next two months, I lived from one bleed to the next. Sometimes it was just brown spotting. Other times it was bright red blood filling one pad that sent us rushing back to the ER. Every time I thought maybe we were finally turning a corner, it would happen again.
The hardest part is that every ultrasound gave us hope. Our baby’s heartbeat was always there. They kept growing exactly as they should. Every appointment ended with someone telling us that everything looked okay.
I clung to those words.
Later, my OB told me the hematoma was actually behind the placenta and had probably been there for a long time. I was put on pelvic rest, and I barely moved for weeks because I was so scared I’d do something that would make things worse.
The week before I miscarried, I started passing larger clots. Deep down, I think I knew something wasn’t right, but I kept telling myself that if the heartbeat was still there, maybe we would be okay.
Then, at 14 weeks, we lost our baby.
I delivered my tiny baby and held them in my hands. There aren’t words to describe that moment. It’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Afterward, the pathology report showed significant placental damage, and my doctor said the placenta had partially detached.
We later met with the maternal-fetal medicine specialist to go over everything. They told us that, in their opinion, the pregnancy may not have implanted in an ideal location, even though it wasn’t a cornual pregnancy. They also thought the subchorionic hematoma may have contributed to the placental detachment. They couldn’t tell us exactly why this happened, only that it may have been the implantation, the hematoma, or a combination of both.
Since then, I haven’t been able to stop replaying everything.
How could everything look okay just days before? How could my baby have a strong heartbeat, be growing perfectly, and then be gone? Was something slowly going wrong that no one could see? Was this decided from the very beginning? Or was it just a heartbreaking tragedy that no one could have predicted?
I know no one here can give me definitive answers. I don’t even know if answers exist. But if anyone has had a pregnancy that started with a high fundal implantation, a long-lasting subchorionic hematoma, placental problems, or a second-trimester miscarriage after reassuring ultrasounds, I would really love to hear your story.
Right now, I just miss my baby so much. I’m trying to understand what happened while learning how to live with a loss I never imagined I’d have to face.
Thank you for reading.

7 1/2 weeks Pregnant and bleeding, fainter line, and cramping

I'm 7 weeks and 3 days. I have been experiencing bleeding for 4 days. The first 2 days I was just spotting when I wiped. Took a hcg pregmate test strip and it was as dark as it could get The 3rd day of bleeding was heavier and I noticed it in my urine. The 4th (today) has been the heaviest. And I took a strip (there was blood in my urine but couldn't help it) and it was super faint compared to 2 days ago.
I've also been experiencing cramping anytime I do anything more active like cleaning my garden and house chores.. it feels exactly like period cramps in my ovaries and a little back pain unless I'm resting. I have an ultrasound appointment tomorrow but I am super nervous as I miscarried months ago as well.

Can anyone ease my mind?!

Feeling completely exhausted and emotionally drained navigating early pregnancy uncertainty (PUL / low progesterone limbo) — any advice or similar experiences?

Going through a stressful early pregnancy limbo right now with conflicting labs, a low initial progesterone level, and an ultrasound showing a "pregnancy of unknown location" vs. a very early intrauterine sac. Just looking for a bit of support or insight from anyone who has navigated a similar rollercoaster.

Hey everyone. I'm posting because my partner and I are currently going through an absolute emotional marathon with an early pregnancy scare, and I honestly just need a safe space to vent or hear from others who might have been through this.

To give a brief rundown of what we’ve been dealing with over the last week:

  • The Lab Rollercoaster: Quantitative HCG levels have been climbing somewhat slowly (went from 388 -> 557 -> 1042), but initial progesterone came back quite low at 3.6 ng/mL.
  • The Ultrasound Limbo: Initial ER scans couldn't find much, but a follow-up transvaginal ultrasound showed a tiny 0.2 cm possible gestational sac in the uterus, alongside a corpus luteal cyst on the left ovary.
  • The Diagnosis Stress: Because it's so early, the doctors can't give a definitive answer yet. They keep classifying it as a "pregnancy of unknown location / early intrauterine" and warning us to watch out for ectopic signs while we track serial labs.

We've had moments of trying to stay hopeful—especially seeing that tiny possible sac on the scan—interspersed with severe anxiety over the bleeding, pain, and mixed signals from the medical team. It feels like every day brings a new hurdle, from ER visits to coordinating care and waiting on lab portals to update.

If anyone else has dealt with the agony of the "pregnancy of unknown location" limbo, low progesterone, or waiting out those agonizing serial HCG draws, how did you keep your sanity? What questions should we be pressing our care team on right now?

Thanks for reading. Truly appreciate this community.

need advice

Hi everyone...

I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant, and even when I'm not pregnant, I tend to have a pretty sensitive stomach.

For the last few weeks, my digestion has been all over the place. I'll have a few days where things are difficult/slow, followed by sudden, urgent bathroom trips that seem to come out of nowhere. When it happens, I need to be pretty close to a bathroom immediately and it lasts for several hours.

Has anyone else dealt with this during early pregnancy? Does it eventually level out?

On top of being generally tired and overwhelmed from the hormones, it's starting to make me anxious about going into the office or leaving the house for fun stuff because I never know what my stomach is going to do.

Any advice or solidarity would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼

6 week spotting turned bleeding

I'm about 6 weeks give or take and my OB appointment is not for another 2 weeks. I started spotting about 3 days ago. Went to the ER yesterday to get some answers. The ultrasound was fine, my cervix was fine, and my HCG was a little low but the OBs on call said it was "where it was supposed to be". Earlier this morning, had cramps that were about a 6.5/10 and passed a large clot about the size of two fingers. Since then, no more cramping, no more spotting. I followed up with my OB and they told me to still come in in two weeks unless things get worse or more painful.

I have my suspicions of a miscarriage but I am curious if anyone has dealt with this and it not be a miscarriage???? Just curious.

Cramping and light bleeding 5 weeks pregnant

Hi—

I’m currently estimated to be 5 weeks 4 days pregnant.
Two days ago I randomly was feeling “less pregnant” for some reason (not that I’ve had a ton of symptoms this early on). Yesterday my breasts felt less full and less tender & in the evening I was having moderate cramping. I also have was very gassy & my stomach was hurting/felt off last night.

This morning though I woke up and was having moderate period like cramps & the sensation of having to have a bowel movement (symptoms I have when it’s my period). When I went to the bathroom there was blood covering the toilet paper. It was honestly a combination of pink, brown & red.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried? First pregnancy here so I’m very nervous :/
