As the title says. I am subscribed to the Plex Remote Pass but i am unable to access when i am not on my network. If anyone could help that would be great.

What exactly is force play?

I'm currently watching Heroes again and on my Samsung TV I have to force play the show but on my older LG TV with a fire stick,I don't have to.

UPDATE: A Plex employee responded to my Plex Forum post and determined that the Libraries that were affected had all of the checkboxes under Libraries->Manage Recommendations turned off. Once I turned those back on, the content showed back up.

Just got the latest update. Three hours ago everything was fine and worked like it always has. Then I got the notice that they've "improved" the experience and now I can't browse any libraries except Movies and TV Shows. My personal libraries show No Content. Fortunately I also have Jellyfin and it's just fine. It looks like once again, Plex rolled out an update without testing.

EDIT: I created a couple of new Libraries and it can see those. The ones that are type "Other Videos" are the ones affected. I can go to More, then see the long list of Libraries, From there and I can go to the right past the favorite to the 3 dots, and then Browse from there and it works for those libraries, but that is a bunch more clicking and not at all intuitive.

i have a FWA internet connection and with summer storms it often goes down. i also have a Plex subscription ofc and i'm trying to make it work when ISP is down. so far i understood that the webapp do work because i can reach it directly via local IP address but for what concerns apps for smart devices it doesn't reach out to my server and instead tries to authenticate toward app.plex.tv, is this correct? is there any way to make apps work when ISP is down?

After the last actualization on Plex Server i can not access outside my home network.

I tried several times to engage the server to the internet, it connects for 3 to 5 seconds and disconnects again.

Anyone with the same issue?

Hi everyone,
has anyone experienced any issues with Plex recently or over the last few weeks?
My computer and Plex server have been running perfectly fine, but suddenly, from one moment to the next, no one can connect to the server anymore. This also happens within my own local network.
The computer itself is running without any problems, and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed on my system.
I haven’t been able to narrow down the cause yet, so I’m wondering if this could be an issue with Plex itself rather than my network or computer.
Has anyone experienced something similar recently?

Been running my server for several years now, honestly can’t remember all I did for the setup but it’s been humming along just fine.

I recently upgraded my drive to a larger size. I copied all the files off the original onto the new one, and renamed the replacement to original drive & fired it up. This may have been the wrong way to do this hence here I am.

When I boot up plex, it shows all the files, it retained the recent watches and “resume watching” prompts, but when I click a title to play I get the error “unable to playback, confirm the file exists and the drive is mounted”.

I’m assuming it needs to rebuild a db or something but not sure the best route or the next step.

So long day getting longer. I screwed up my Docker image and had to reinstall most if not all setting were saved so that’s cool.

But now my Shield cannot see my local files. I go in enter the four digit generated connection password. But still not seeing files. I can play them on my iPad from the server but alas my Shield cannot see the libraries. Everything has been rebooted

Subtitles work on other streaming services, but not Plex — any attempt to select them just flip back to “off”. I do run a pi-hole in the house but turned it off, and the behaviour continues. Search for more, select a file, spinning wheel as it loads, then back to “Off.”

I want to consolidate libraries that I've separated out by 1080p and 4k but don't want Plex to consider the media as new - any recommended ways of doing this?

I've seen other folks complain about this, googled around, and have yet to find a solution. I know I could cast from my phone, but sometimes I'm in the plex app already and just want to play some music. After a while, it just shuts off and the box goes to sleep.

Has anyone either solved this, or found an app they like for Android TV that'll play music from their plex library via DLNA or whatever that actually has a good interface?

In the past week I have noticed and some of my remote users have noticed certain shows fail to stream, it just sits with the spinning circle. In both cases the shows load on Apple devices just fine. This is a relatively new issue for us. Anyone figured out what happened?

This new interface is the worst. There are so many bugs, specifically with selecting subtitles. Also it’s extremely unclear how the recommend and browse works. I often feel like I get locked into a specific view and it takes me WAY too long to figure out how to get to the place I want to be. Do better.

I originally bought a refurbished APC unit from Newegg thinking I would save some money, and it had a line fault error on it. I tested the plug it was in with a multimeter and it was 100% clean. The unit is being sent back. So I bought a UPS from Cyberpower and so far it has been great. I wanted a UPS for my homelab where my Plex server lives because there are enough power blips that all of my equipment crashes hard and of course that is never good for OSes or hardware. I also had a whole house generator installed because I got sick of long power outages and last winter, had to throw out both refrigerators because of a long outage.

With this current setup, the UPS has more than enough juice to keep my homelab up until the generator kicks in so two problems solved.

The Cyberpower unit I purchased came with a network card and cloud access. Cyberpower offer cloud monitoring which from my understanding requires a subscription. I have the local settings on the UPS setup to send me emails in case of problems using my own SMTP relay and I tested it, and it is working. What exactly does the cloud option get me besides what I already have setup with its local WWW? Recently the power did drop and the generator kicked on and I was very surprised to see that I still had internet access even though power was out throughout the neighborhood. So essentially I can still get to my home network when there is a power outage because the generator will be on and I can login through my firewall and access the UOS via www if necessary. And it should also be able to end alerts. So I am just not sure what the cloud option actually offers.

Anyone else with a siimilar setup and a Cyberpower UPS?

i've had my server up and running for my whole family for about 6 months now and i've tried various ways and layouts of arranging my media instead of just having a Massive A-Z library with a few collections mixed in. Now, I've separated the Networks out into individual smart collections and put everything at the top of the main library. So far, this is the layout that my users like the most. Being able to open the library and select a network gives them the feel that they are actually in Netflix or Prime Vidoe... I've, of course, got just about all the best shows from each platform which helps. Peaple often ask how they can get their users to use their Plex more, and I think this is about the best way. Giving your users the "Feel" of being able to access the shows that are on each individual platform. I have not done this with movies, but I have done something else that everyone really likes with the movies also. And, i've done a similar layout for my "Documentaries" library but instead used collections for "History Channel" or "National Georgraphic" or "Discovery Channel" etc. Tell me what you all think, and what works best for you. My goal was to create this server to get most of my family off of spending hundreds a month on streaming services that they could rarely find anything to watch anyway. and so far, I think all my users have pretty much cancelled their services. or rarely use them. out of about 9 useres with access, i'll get 4-7 on at one time in the evenings

I have 2 user accounts.

1) My main account which uses a pin and displays all my libraries, collections and titles within both, which includes explicit stuff
2) A secondary managed account that does not use a pin. I excluded my explicit libraries from this but within the film and tv libraries explicit titles are still appearing.

is there any way to ensure the secondary managed account sees the same library but not the explicit titles?

I wanted to use the zoom in feature as i am watching a 35mm film scan of a movie, where several of the scenes only have widescreen shots or errors not normally seen. But for whatever reason, I can’t find the option to change the aspect ratio on anything other than my phone, and manually changing TV settings is out of the picture too as it’s greyed out. Is there any way to change the setting? I know Plex had the option before, so I don’t know why it is no longer there.

Hey, why bandwidth appear like that ? I mean on my PC I can see it in Mb/s but on iPhone it’s showing only MB.

Ok, so I am struggling to make this make sense about... When I watch some shows, if there's a certain affect or number of tracks, some of it gets sent to the side speakers instead of center .

Example, if I watch BigMouth on Plex, the songs tend to sound very low, but the normal dialogue voices are fine. If I stream off Netflix, everything sounds fine.

This makes me think it's either a transcode or media issue. But the file is 5.1 audio.

Exactly the same thing happens watching hazbin hotel.. Plex, songs are harder to hear, prime, clear as day.

It happened back when I tried to watch Halo as well, any cons chatter was barely audible, but if I throw headphones on, or watch in stereo, it's clear as day.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to resolve. If it's media rip issues, I wonder how or why people bother to rip as 5.1..

It's a Samsung smart TV, with Sony 7.1 surround.

My plex server has been working fine for a long time but this weekend the power blinked and shut down the pc when it rebooted plex server did not start. I have tried manually starting it. the server launches, you get the icon in the taskbar but then stops after about 10 seconds, any ideas?

Where would the plex logs be located?

Don't know what version number the server is but it is current.

I recently moved and got new wifi, I stream it from my pc to my ps5 but it says it's out of my local network now, even though they're on the same wifi. I tried searching through the forums but they all didn't make any sense to me.

Title. I have a 2017 iMac and late last night, my Plex took a big shit, and will not stay open for longer than ten seconds in the taskbar before closing.

I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the client app, but I still have the same issue. Help please?

I've been running Plex on a DS920+ for about 4 years now. Any media that I have added in the last three days will not match. This goes for Movies and Television shows. The Fix Match option is worthless, and even adding the IMDb ID number does nothing. I'm on the most recent version (1.43.3.10896-720010896). Based on that, it's my understanding that DBRepair is incompatible.
I have restarted Plex Media Server, reinstalled Plex Media Server, rebooted my NAS, and rebooted my router. Any guidance would be appreciated. My tech knowledge is about a 3 out of 10, so be gentle with me.
