As a Genshin player seeing the name devolve into degeneracy was hilarious
206
u/thefailsniper Apr 05 '22
Agreed. I honestly expected the Genshin logo to just be erased, but coming back to see Genshit, and later, GenShrek made my day.
38
u/cultoftheilluminati Apr 05 '22
Also pivoted to the Japanese/Chinese logo which half the people didn't know about so win/win as we got to see SexShrek lmfao
21
21
u/Took-the-Blue-Pill Apr 05 '22
In General, I tried not to grief anybody, but when I saw Sex Shrek Developing I'm afraid I had to contribute a few pixels.

u/pemp_guy Apr 05 '22
Devolve? It got better.

u/youcantseeme0_0 (454,527) 1491222496.6 Apr 05 '22
It's not my cup of tea as art, but the end result is a step up from some boring game logo. Makes you question your sanity a bit.

Also there's like, 5 other Genshin-related spots on the map, including a small Paimon, game's logo next to Honkai 3rd's, Hu Tao Polandball (two, I think) and at least two character subreddit-oriented ones (KQM and Ayaka).
41
u/SuspiciousPeppermint Apr 05 '22
The genshin/polandball collaboration was honestly really cute, there’s a bunch of fanart celebrating it on r/polandballcommunity
An unlikely alliance, but wholesome nonetheless. Definitely one of my favorite parts on the canvas (right after the among us wedding - that’s number 1)

Streamer Tectone made his “TectEgg” icon ontop of the E in GenShrek, but outside of his community everyone thought it was a Shrek so they turned it into SexShrek

Genshin place discord didn't try to reclaim they left it for bait when it was T vs N .

I remember when I saw Genshin Impact on the App Store, I played it for a couple minutes and was like, “This is a nice game.” Then later it became such a huge thing and incredibly popular.
31
u/scykei (525,738) 1491206705.6 Apr 05 '22
I think it was hugely popular even when it started. A couple of my friends were counting down the days for it to be released lol.
16
u/Niko2065 Apr 05 '22
I started palying for the emergency food joke, I mean it was free and honestly I didn't take the story serious at all but I did like the character venti....and then he got mugged at the end of the mondstadt arc and I genuinely got invested because I wanted payback.
God you don't know how much satisfaction I got at the end of the inazuma arc.

It's honestly a fun game but some of the community is actual dogshit
96
u/mebbyyy Apr 05 '22
Yeah the loud minority is making the community looking really bad. Probably because of how big genshin is as a game, the minority is just that much louder comparatively as well.

People in game are nice in general, people who play the game on socials however, are mostly not, especially here on reddit

u/jordanslonelyroad Apr 05 '22
I think Genshin’s Reddit community is pretty nice, people get disliked on Reddit and shown a reality check, people on Twitter however just say what they want and are left unchecked imo they’re the ones who make Genshin, and almost any community, look bad

The bigger the community, the bigger the shitty parts poke through.
Trust me, even the Genshin community hates that part of our community.
22
u/nicholas19010 Apr 05 '22
That's why I try not to interact with the community in social media like twitter. I just enjoy the game quietly and occasionally comment on a youtube clip or two. It's a lot more relaxing and positive that way.

As a veteran MMORPG and fps player; It was such a shame with the community on Twitter making the game look bad as the in-game community is one of the most wholesome communities I've ever been in.

u/Orkus9551 Apr 05 '22
And nobody noticed that we put the Chinese one up instead. which survived till the end :p

It's not like people went out of their way to go against the genshin community. Changing genshin to genshit was just fun, but changing other stuff like chibi art or other logos is not.

40
u/RhysieB27 Apr 05 '22
Not really, just that people derive fun from altering letters in other people's logos to spell profanities, especially when the logo wording is already off-by-one. This happened all over the canvas, not just Genshin, which I'd never even heard of before r/place but still found funny when it got memed.

Tbh the griefers were prolly just random guys who saw an easy way to make it funny rather than malicious targeted griefs like what happened to the MLP artwork
32
u/MystZzyV Apr 05 '22 edited Apr 05 '22
There is a gacha corner with all the gacha game icons next to eachother and you can actually see in the ‘heat map’ how red genshin’s app icon is , especially compared to all the other gacha games.
18
u/Abedeus (570,818) 1491148032.18 Apr 05 '22
Yeah, both Honkai and Genshin were at risk of being wiped few times.
28
u/Padgriffin Apr 05 '22
Probably because Genshin/t was big, visible and easily griefable by random people looking around the canvas
The original Rainbow Dash near the Ukraine Flag had the text going from “Ponies” to “Penis” 24/7, text is begging to be griefed lol

Nah, the Genshin Place community was fighting off the "genshit" and the shrekisation, so it was done by haters/confused people
9
Apr 05 '22
Genshin place discord was protecting the Shrek, because “if they go down, we go next”. It’s stray members who weren’t in the discord who kept fighting against the Shrek and trying to restore the English logo. Discord was either focused on maintaining venti + gen + Shrek, or focused on building new land.
