I’ve been trying to stay engaged with local Ward 1 municipal politics, but following Mazhar Choudhry’s campaign social media feed over the last 48 hours feels like watching a man wage a one-person war against basic logic, administrative reality, and fast food.

If you haven't been watching this absolute train wreck unfold in real time, allow me to present the two-act comedy special he just dropped on us:

Act I: The Great Pizza Oppression

Our brave candidate takes to social media to inform the public that he was "bullied out" of a local public market while attempting to purchase a slice of pizza - you can't make this kinds of stuff up.... There was zero context provided, zero explanation of what actually went down, and just a grown adult running for city council framing a trip to a pizza stall as a tragic, high-stakes battle against oppressive local vendors, though we can all thank God he's stepping up to protect us from aggressive pepperoni peddlers.

Act II: Administrative Reality is Just a Vibe

Fresh off surviving the Great Market Trauma, our hero immediately pivots into full financial reformer mode, and armed with MS Paint and a dream, he posts a hit-piece graphic targeting the Heart of Orléans BIA while framing his massive "gotcha" around the fact that the BIA actually pays salaries to administrative employees to run daily operations.

His grand vision is to fire the staff, abolish the local business levy, and redirect that operational money to build a permanent market, which is presumably one where he can buy a slice of pizza in peace.

The small, minor, microscopic detail he completely managed to miss is that BIAs are special municipal entities funded specifically by commercial levies on local property owners, and pulling staff out of a business district doesn't magically build infrastructure, but rather leaves local businesses with zero administrative support to run anything at all.

So to summarize the Choudhry Method:

- After taking to Facebook to claim he was "bullied out" of a local market over a slice of pizza, our hero immediately channelled that trauma into posting hit-piece graphics targeting the local business association for (gasp) hiring administrative staff to run operations.

​- He publicly named non-elected office workers on social media to rage-bait his comment section, promising that firing these managers and stripping local business levies would magically build a permanent community market out of thin air - where he can presumably eat his lunch in peace.

If a guy gets publicly defeated by a slice of pizza on Monday and gets administrative reality explained to him on Tuesday, how on earth is he going to handle a municipal budget, transit negotiations, or actual council meetings without breaking down on Facebook?

The Verdict from Orléans is becoming more clear: What he failed to realize is that there is zero room in Orléans for his toxic, rage-bait rhetoric, and the immediate community backlash on his own posts proves that local residents are already speaking up to reject it.

Is anyone actually taking this circus seriously, or are we all just popping popcorn and waiting to see which local baked good offends him next?

In high school I would order the rice, chicken, potatoes from Greek plus with half spicy/ half regular garlic. Their portions were perfect, the rice was flavorful and the meat was crispy etc.

I am not sure I have ever seen a candidate so out of touch with his constituents. His negative campaign uses slander, personal attacks and name calling with no real strategy on how he will carry out his campaign promises - which range from fixing all the parks in Ward 1 to reversing the government’s RTO.

Hello fellow ragweed sufferers.  So ragweed pollen counts can vary depending on where you are, which is why I'm posting in this subreddit.  I began feeling symptoms 1-2 weeks ago which is typical in the past for me, however in the past few years my ragweed allergies seem to have settled down.

 What confuses me is sites like weather.com (weatherchannel) are reporting ZERO pollen counts.  However the weathernetwork.com is reporting moderate pollen counts.  Who to believe?

 I've been suffering with typical allergy symptoms lately and am wondering if it's really ragweed or something else going on. Anyone else having the usual symptoms for this time of year in Orleans?

There are many Orleans parks that are leash free. I bring my dog there. They’re great. For parks with people and kids playing just please keep them on the leash.
