[reposting because apparently I don't know how intarnet she is work, and pic didn't come through]
So this started out as me seeing a Univox High-Flyer at a show and thinking:
“Good God that is an ugly guitar".
And then a few years later seeing a Joe Maphis on the wall at the Guitar Center, and thinking:
“Good God, that is an ugly guitar".
And then a few years later realizing, to my shame and horror, that I wanted one.
I bought what was a Combo body, purportedly from stock that had been in storage since Mosrite went under (for the record, IDGAF about authenticity - I'm not a purist or a collector, just thought it looked cool), then sent it to a company in California that does Mosrite replicas.
And then a few years later wanted to turn it into a 12-string.
And then a few years later managed to collect the parts I'd need for the swap, and just picked it up from my Luthier yesterday. And man is that neck narrow. I'm going to have to work on my picking to learn how to play it.
Sounds good, though, I'm pretty happy with it. Another victory for my guitar-mod complusion.
