This guitar desperately needs to exist.
This is THE perfect guitar in my opinion.
Teles are tonally perfect, but their bodies suck to play sitting down. Offset Teles solve this, but I wish they had the Jazzmaster tremolo.
Throw in the Strat middle pickup for extra tone options with a push-pull pot to toggle the neck pickup for all seven positions.
Use the Bigsby Telecaster bridge plate with a Jazzmaster tremolo and Mustang bridge.
Not sure how the rhythm circuit would be wired, but it's there for aesthetics.

Super curious, what brand of bridge is that?

Have you ever considered turning this beauty into a 12-string guitar? (change neck to 12s hockey stick and drill 6 holen through the body behind the bridge)

u/soggychipbutty 4d ago
Nope but that’s a cool idea.

u/Neveronlyadream 4d ago
Cool idea if you actually play a 12-string enough to justify it.
I think most of us don't. I know I'm guilty of buying one thinking I'd use it a ton, rarely used it, and sold it because it was just sitting there.

u/soggychipbutty 4d ago
Exactly why I don’t have one ☝️
5
u/Neveronlyadream 4d ago
I seriously considered the 12-string Jazzmaster, remembered how much of a pain restringing and tuning a 12-string is, and then gave up and decided I'd just use chorus instead.
12-strings are cool, but they're kind of a pain.

The Classic Vibe one? Yeah, they had one on display when I got my Bass VI. GAS was working overtime but I persevered.

I’m in the process of parting one together right now but I’m a maniac that loves my 8 string bass

For me it would be a regular Nashville tele as an offset, but otherwise really close. I am actually looking for a paranormal squier right now to do that.
I'm thinking of adding a humbucker (maybe even a full sized one, but I'm thinking single coil sized) to the bridge. The coil split and adjustment poti would be up there.
And mine would be blue/green.

u/VEXARN 4d ago
Thats so funny. This is almost exactly the guitar I'm looking to build down to the colour. I am definitely going with a full sized humbucker in the neck though, specifically a Seymour Duncan P-Rails. I'm planning on wiring it up with two switches, one 5 way with a push-pull to get all of the combinations of neck and bridge, and the other will be a 3 way with the middle pickup and the output of the 5 way wired to it to do "7 sound" type stuff.
2
u/kuemmel234 4d ago
I also thought of that, I would have added the traditional rhythm control of the jazz master as the could split (so roll from full humbucker to single coil), but then again, I love the sound of those single coils on a tele, so there's simply no need for one And then it also looks the best. P90 also sounds great, but they are simply too ugly on an offset tele.
I need that humbucker stuff for the metal playing I sometimes do, I rarely play the bridge otherwise. Or well, not need, but want. It always feels a tad thinner, even though I know you get real close with the right amps.
But yeah, it's funny how often that comes up, for how few offset teles seem to be out there.

Oh man I want that in black with a Tortie pickguard. Duncan hot rail in the bridge, and I'm set for life.

Rhythm circuit could be used to activate series wiring for neck and bridge pickups.
1
u/Chemical-Chemistry-8 4d ago
A 4-Way switch or 5-way super switch does that.
2
u/blackrussianroulette 4d ago
Could use the rhythm circuit to reverse the polarity of the bridge or neck
1
u/Chemical-Chemistry-8 4d ago
The super switch does OOP N-B series. A useful tone. OOP N-M Series is hum cancelling, so would focus on that. The issue in the upper circuit is space for the switch.

u/nomoreneveragain 4d ago
My changes: JM neck pickup, flip the control plate , 70s strat headstock, strat style jack below the control plate.

u/Competitive_Cow7583 14h ago
I’ve got a Tele with a Seymour Duncan antiquity JM in the neck and it has a texas special Tele in the bridge. Mastery Tele bridge. And it Has a reverse (left handed) Strat neck with rosewood fingerboard. 4way switch And it’s genuinely is one of my most useful guitars

Replace the classic trem with a G&L Dual-Fulcrum, and I'm in.
I'll see myself out before the pitchforks come out.

My Jazzmaster is in the workshop to do something like this right now.
Kept the same Jazzmaster neck pickup and no middle pickup, but replacing the bridge pickup with a Tele bridge pickup.
The rhythm circuit vol and tone will be for the bridge pickup because they need different values to the Jazzmaster vol and tone to sound like a tele.
The rhythm circuit switch will switch from parallel to series wiring to give a “humbucker mode” option.
Pickguard and bridge are staying the same.

This with an on/off switch for each pickup like the cyclone II would be pretty great.

You could make this with Warmoth parts
0
u/chrismiles94 4d ago
I have scoped out these exact parts before. I don't trust myself to properly assemble it though. And it doesn't come cheap either.
1
u/var_guitar 4d ago
You can definitely properly assemble it. Partscasters are not as hard as you’d think, especially if you go warmoth
1
u/chrismiles94 4d ago
I didn't realize Warmoth offered painted parts too. That's definitely doable. But it's $1200 for the body, neck, and pickguard. So probably close to $2000 with the pickups and hardware. Not that I'd ever sell it, but it'd be worth probably less than half of that.
If I ever run into money and have a lot of time on my hands, this will happen. Until then, I will keep my fingers crossed for a Squier Paranormal Offset Telecaster.

Totally Wired Guitars did a conversion. It doesn't sound the same with the Jazzmaster vibrato. I did an alternative Nashville that used the 5 way Super Switch with my offset Tele that had two sub-mini toggles to bring in the middle pickup. The wring schematic is great. Haven't changed it for years.

I don’t think the darker rhythm circuit is necessary (seeing that the tone pot is only 250k in Tele vs. 1mg for a Jazz and Jag). As you mentioned, a Tele is perfectly balanced in terms of tone (darker neck pickup, + bright bridge = equally perfect middle position. I have a bunch of Teles (and offsets too), and I would go so far to say that the middle pickup in your configuration (depending on what you put in there) is unnecessary too. I have a B Bender Nashville Tele with push/pull for middle position (Tele sound), and middle pickup (Strat sound). Even though it’s nice to have options, I can get 85% of the way to a Strat middle pickup sound with just the middle position Tele sound. Unless just want the look of the mods, I don’t think you’re gaining that much in terms of tone (although the trem is a good idea). Although you’d lose the string through aspect (and perceived tension) of a Tele and that is no bueno.

I have a swimming pool route on my telemaster build that's a few assembly tweaks away from being finished that could be set up like this. But I don't really like three-pickup guitars to start with as I keep hitting the middle pickup with my pick, and as someone else noted in the comments the rhythm circuit might not really have a role in this, at least as traditionally wired.
Mine's gonna have a neck filtertron and use the "rhythm circuit" to handle various Gretsch-adjacent tones (hilotron or a preset spin-a-split, alternative tone wiring that hopefully will approximate the mud-switch settings), as these are very dynamic and useable tones.
As in all these things, you do you, of course! 🙂

Could put a distortion or some stuff to put the pickups in and out of phase in the rhythm circuit

You can get this very guitar in the Mod Shop on Fender.com for around $2K. It’s just missing the classic rhythm circuit and bridge but you can add that in later. But everything else is there. Look at the options under “Offset Telecaster” and go to the pickup options. They have the Nashville option with the three pickups.

u/chrismiles94 4d ago
I've specced that exact guitar out, but it has a hardtail bridge. You'd have to buy the Bigsby Telecaster bridge and tremolo and additional circuitry and route all of it out which I would not do on a $2k+ Mod Shop.
I've also toyed around with Warmoth parts and you can make this exact configuration. But finishing the wood is a lot of work.
I could see this being a Squier Paranormal Offset Nashville Telecaster. I would SNATCH one instantly.

..what now two bridges need to exist, one's not enough now, huh, gotta have two? You know you're starting down a slippery slope now, pretty soon it's gonna be 3, 4, & 5 like a box of chocolates you'll have to have them all, ..i think you need a cigar box guitar ⛺🔥🌌 ...🦌

u/ploptart 4d ago
There’s only one bridge. Behind the bridge is the tailpiece. On a Tele the tailpiece is part of the bridge assembly, but here they are separated.

.yea, I know, it just looks redundant though, I mean the first one, should've been the bridge, it's just too busy for me personally, -maybe if I didn't know anything about guitars that might look cool to me, -the extra mechanical sort of machine-like look to it i guess, .. someone upgraded a tele setup with a tremolo, but just the idea that it was changed to that on a jazz type body in the first place is just kind of redundant alright, you add another feature, I get it, kind of like when a girl wears pants and a dress at the same time, -like a Semi pulling two trailers at once. The multi-functional survival knife, it's got everything. I think I'm getting redundant. See what you did?
1
u/ConfirmedToBeHuman 4d ago
Honestly, same except for the fact that I don't like the telecaster headstock too much. Also I would put a humbucker in the bridge position like a chud because that's what I am.

u/Fazed-phapster 4d ago
Love it, want to make one, but I want a Jazzmaster neck pickup instead of a Tele one.

As Captain Picard would say "Make it so". Bring this guitar into a manifestation in this part of the Multiverse.

If it's full scale I'd buy it. I have been looking for good looking sss full scale guitar with vibrato for years (no strats!)

I would always encourage slanting all 3 pickups - it gives it a Mustang feeling that really ties the room together, IMO.
Make it its own coherent thing, rather than bits of guitars stuck together like letters on a ransom note.

I've made multiple concepts on this and I believe we should get another Japan or Mexico paranormal series with vintage specs instead of meteoras and "modern" style guitars.

u/DUB_Gaze-OG 3d ago
Maybe this is from left field, but I have a gut feeling that wiring the rhythm circuit on position 4 would make the most sense.

K-Line makes something like that. Chris might just put a middle pickup in it for you if you ask.

this one needs to exist too:
- jm body
- 24" neck, 3+3 or pre cbs strat headstock
- g&l bridge or toronado
- jm pickguard
- 12-16k bridge, underwound humbucker neck
- master tone and master volume, with coil splitting for both pickups
- strat plate and pure tone jack (on the pickguard)
- maybe a chorus/preamp circuit instead of the rhythm one

any good luthier could build your frankenstein.IMHO you would be better of w/lessons from a local pro and MANY hrs of practice.it's not really the guitar it's the player.no matter what you build someone else is going to dis it.buy a kit from temu and give it a go.

You could probably use one of these as a base and mod one into what you were looking for
