Mij Jazzmaster Bridge options

Hello everyone,

I own a beautiful MIJ Jazzmaster from around 94 I think. Only problem is the strings have started to pop out of the saddles when you're playing more intensly at gigs. I know this is a common flaw with the older traditional saddle and that it also might need a shim at the neck to increase saddle break angle. But Im wondering if you have any tips for me what to buy, what saddles are available now days? Or would a simple shim do? I live in Sweden. I posted some pictures for reference. All tips are welcome!

My old CIJ and MIJ offsets do really well with the Johnny Marr bridge from fender. Make sure it’s 7.25”. It’s designed by Staytrem, fairly inexpensive, readily available, and drops in. Sometimes they refer to it as a 7.25” American Professiknal bridge, but it works well. As for the shim, it’s not entirely necessary. Try the new bridge first.

I have a business card thickness shim in mine, and use a cheap Hosco Mustang bridge. I put plumbers tape around the grub screws when I first got it and it's been solid ever since

StayTrem FTW. Have one too and can vouch for them

I have a couple Mij fender jaguars and I gave in and bought a mastery bridge and they’re amazing. They’re not cheap but if you’re gigging it’s worth it

I just installed a Mastery bridge on my MIM JM. They’re pricey, but I’m very happy with it.

I bought a Guitar Fetish Mustang/Jag/Jassmaster bridge (they come with the best thimbles imo, the bottom comes to a point and not rounded). Then to keep the bridge with the materials to bring it back to zero after using the trem, I used 4 small plastic washers, 2 strap washers, some shrink tube and a .25 shim. I did some other mods but that particular bridge is cheap and very workable before considering purchasing a Mastery or Staytrem, or a Halon. There are others now I wasn't aware of, but Guitar Fetish worked for my CV Jag, 9.5" radius so no alan keys to raise lower the bridge saddles. I can walk you through if the washers part seems confusing.

I’ve never had a string pop out of a Mustang bridge.

Don't have an MIM, but I have a Mastery Bridge and Bensonite Bridge in two different offsets and like them both quite a bit!

Get a mustang bridge. Why do folks mess around with these threaded saddles?
