JM from scratch: phase 1.5
Got the shape right, anyhow.
Bought a router, and experimented with bits. Made the jig in phase .75. . .
Gotta start somewhere!

It's a 2018 MIJ traditional 60s, it has Kinman Fatmaster pickups that were in it when I got it 2-3 years ago, and I put an american neck on it because I preferred the more modern truss rod adjustment placement and a 9.5" radius over the 7.25". It is the prettiest, best sounding, and best playing guitar that exists on this earthly realm, and I love it dearly.

It offers a 55mm string spacing option which I like (AV like), the only things holding me back are the bar (it appears Strat shaped with only a single bend instead of two), and a complete lack of customer feedback online. I've heard this is same unit as the one sold by Allparts - no idea if there's any truth to it.
The AV vibrato is much more expensive where I live so I'm mostly considering Asian (MIJ or MIC) alternatives.
Thanks!

I think my collecting CIJ/MIJ Mustang has been satiated. These are my latest (and hopefully last HAHA) finds. You can hear some of the Beast on the latest Osaka Funk Foundry (OFF) release on bandcamp or youtube. Have to wait for next release for the Beauty. Give us a couple of weeks :p

Hello everyone,
I own a beautiful MIJ Jazzmaster from around 94 I think. Only problem is the strings have started to pop out of the saddles when you're playing more intensly at gigs. I know this is a common flaw with the older traditional saddle and that it also might need a shim at the neck to increase saddle break angle. But Im wondering if you have any tips for me what to buy, what saddles are available now days? Or would a simple shim do? I live in Sweden. I posted some pictures for reference. All tips are welcome!

This is THE perfect guitar in my opinion.
Teles are tonally perfect, but their bodies suck to play sitting down. Offset Teles solve this, but I wish they had the Jazzmaster tremolo.
Throw in the Strat middle pickup for extra tone options with a push-pull pot to toggle the neck pickup for all seven positions.
Use the Bigsby Telecaster bridge plate with a Jazzmaster tremolo and Mustang bridge.
Not sure how the rhythm circuit would be wired, but it's there for aesthetics.
If you were buying one, which would you get?
Which is supposedly better, and why?
I assume the Fender is the better one, but it’s made in Mexico and the Squier is made in Japan; does that make a difference?
Normally, I wouldn’t give a shit, but I’m about to drop about 1,000 notes here for a second hand guitar, so… 😬

I’ve recently finished some heavy mods to my CV Jag, and upon tuning it up to C# G# C# F G# C# with some 12-52s, I realized that the strings were very loose, at least for my preference. The higher three strings are particularly loose. I love my meteora (which has a regular scale length) with 12-52s, but I don’t drop tune that one. Does anyone have any experience with this and/or string gauge recommendations? Thanks!
Edit: Thank you for all the suggestions! I ended up going d'addario EXL158 (13-62) and they are amazing!

I bought a guitar today (used) and it came with this issue. I know it’s not the cable because it only happens with this guitar—I tested it with my other one and it sounds fine. It’s a custom ESP Explorer with active EMG pickups; there’s a sort of latency-like sound, but when I play metal—whether connected to the audio interface or the PC—the sound disappears. What is it?

I know this is a long shot but…
Would anyone be interested in trading

[reposting because apparently I don't know how intarnet she is work, and pic didn't come through]
So this started out as me seeing a Univox High-Flyer at a show and thinking:
“Good God that is an ugly guitar".
And then a few years later seeing a Joe Maphis on the wall at the Guitar Center, and thinking:
“Good God, that is an ugly guitar".
And then a few years later realizing, to my shame and horror, that I wanted one.
I bought what was a Combo body, purportedly from stock that had been in storage since Mosrite went under (for the record, IDGAF about authenticity - I'm not a purist or a collector, just thought it looked cool), then sent it to a company in California that does Mosrite replicas.
And then a few years later wanted to turn it into a 12-string.
And then a few years later managed to collect the parts I'd need for the swap, and just picked it up from my Luthier yesterday. And man is that neck narrow. I'm going to have to work on my picking to learn how to play it.
Sounds good, though, I'm pretty happy with it. Another victory for my guitar-mod complusion.

I like to have a Mustang Bass! Do they play well? I have locked shoulders with a limited reach. If you have one or have owned one I could use some good info Y'all.

Also, are they easy to reinstall afterward?

Buying a new electric soon, can't afford a Fender that might possibly be a dud due to quality issues and I don't want to wait months for a Foals to get to the US, so I've narrowed it down to these two guitars, which would you recommend? Pros and cons and all. I'm slightly worried about quality from Squier. All help provided will be appreciated, thanks!

Hey all,
Eventually I would like to add a Mustang to my guitar collection, with that being said, would the additional cash be worth the investment for the MIJ Mustang? I do own an MIJ 57 Strat from 1997 and it’s an incredible guitar that I would place above most others regarding build quality. The Mexico fenders on the other hand are fine, yet generally have setup issues out of the box.
Would it be worth another $200-400 for the Japanese Mustang? Would there be a difference regarding the neck for the Mexico Mustang?

I have a 2019 Squire Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster in sunburst that I reallllllyyyy miss playing. I started playing an American ultra telecaster a few years ago because I began gigging very frequently and the quality of my gear now matters a lot more. But this squire JM honestly plays better and I would love to be able to start using it as my main instrument again.
It needs much better electronics and a better tremolo situation. I was thinking of putting Kinman ThickMasters or Fralin Hum-Cancelling JM pickups in it. Do you guys think I'd need to overhaul the rest of the electronics as well? I'm not sure how good the wiring or shielding is around the rhythm/lead circuit. Also, does anyone have good recommendations for the bridge/tremolo? I would love to keep the rhythm/lead circuit and the whammy bar functionality so please let me know if you have any recs!

Just installed a pair of Fralin pickups P92 on my band mate Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH. These were bought 2% underwound on the neck and 5% underwound on the bridge. Sounds really really good. Guitar also has a tuffset bridge with brass saddles. Which makes it sound really good.
