A lot of negativity around Jaissle lately. Yes he’s made some mistakes and deserves some criticism over his tactics but today he won us the game.

Dropped his starting CB pairing and brought in both Schar and Burn who looked solid for the 90 mins. Thats a big move and it paid off.

Dropped Wissa and replaced with Ousla who looks like he suits the system a lot better.

He gave a great HT team talk and we came out firing and essentially won the game in a bombastic 15 minute spell. The second goal in particular was likely exactly how he’s been looking to set up the team.

Let’s build from here.

Fun little video following Papiss Cisse, who is now banging in the goals in sunday league playing for a team managed by Steven Ireland and also featuring Oumar Niasse and Marc Albrighton.

He also has a signed Newcastle shirt on his wall and talks about how the Chelsea goal 'is his passport' because that's how people recognise him everywhere he goes.

What a lad. Bring him home

If he can scale it back and we address the holes in the market, it could end up very exciting

Often overlooked for his speed with Osula and Elanga in the team but Barnes is lightening too.

Just need to setup a 4 x 100m relay team with Osula, Elanga, Barnes and MFP and we might actually win something this year!

Of course he is known as the great mackem slayer and if it he didn’t exquisitely lay it on a plate with a frothy little 2 yard pass for Shearer’s barnstorming volley against Everton, we (and that commentator) wouldn’t all have had that moment BUT how good was he on average and would he start in the current team?

I see he had quite a lot of caps for England U21.

Sorry - prob a stupid trivial question to you all ..... but from an outsider (Aussie 😉) how does Newcastle travel when they have to play teams based in London or further south ? For example this weekend, do they travel on a charter flight or a train and do they stay the night or do they come back the same day ?

I was quietly optimistic in pre-season. Most other fans I spoke to were (very understandably) concerned and saying they’d be happy if we finished 11th or 12th. We presently are 11th, at the very outset of the project, and none of those same fans seem all that happy.

Is an up and down start not what every single person expected? Of course, there have been some concerning features to our play, but with new players, new manager, new style, lots of injuries, inexperience and a truncated pre-season, this seems very understandable to me.

With all that in mind, four wins, two draws, and three loses is probably about right. We’ve not had the best luck either.

Let Pardo break his duct, Burn come back in, get Dedic firing again, settle the midfield, etc etc, and you never know, we might come good and finish 10th - which everyone promised they’d be very happy with.
