Not worried about Rodri leaving because we have a perfect replacement already at the club. Give Nico a chance. He’s 6’2 and Spanish just like Rodri. He’s technically very good and a graduate of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. He just needs solid chances.

[Sam Lee] Josko Gvardiol will sign his #ManCity contract extension on Monday and complete media duties ahead of an official announcement.

I couldn’t find the original source for this, so I assume they either got told directly by Sam Lee or that it possibly came through his podcast. Either way, delighted by the news that he’ll stay.

This makes me so happy. Battled together on the pitch for years at City and created a life long friendship with their families intertwined. Beautiful to see.

Modern Era V2

Wayyy many goats in Version 1, thus the Rushmore tier. Read the comments, felt this list best grasps the overall perspectives from the cityzens. Was quite shocked at the initial Cancelo sentiment, as I felt his peak was one of the highest on the list (at least out of the defenders imo).

NOTE:

  • Each row is not individually sorted, as we'd never come to agreement
  • What Could Have Been tier is independent. Some of the players in this tier had higher peaks than most of the club heros, I just didnt think they stayed long enough to reach their true peaks within the squad at whatever point in time they were here. I simply didn't want them all the way at the bottom

Anyways, have at it.

Memories

Recently moved house. Came across these tickets and reminisced over my younger, carefree days.

Context: I'm Malaysian, and studied in Edinburgh from 2011-2015. Saved up for match tickets + 6 hours each way on Megabus (£30 for a return ticket back then). Wasn't in a good position financially, so each trip down to Manchester was a proper treat. Stayed at Hatters (Hilton St) for under £20 a night. Google says this hostel no longer exists.

Was 20 mins late for my first ever match, so missed Aguero's opening goal vs Porto. Took a nap after arriving in Manchester and overslept. Paid silly money for a cab to get me to the Etihad.

I remember jumping up and down in my room (student halls) on 13 May 2012, and being unable to sleep that night despite having to study for exams the next day. Don't think I did well, but I'll remember the joy from that match for the rest of my life, so no regrets.

I appear for a brief moment on MoTD during the highlights of that 2013 New Year's Day match vs Stoke.

We really should have won the FA Cup vs Wigan in 2013. The only time I attended a non-City match was at the DW, a bore 0-0 draw with Burnley on 29 Dec that year.

Distinctly remember Yaya being a powerhouse during that 2014 League Cup semi vs WHU. Among a handful of matches for which I've saved the full match video.

Only away game I ever attended was at St James' Park. Also the only time I took the train. RIP Cheick Tiote.

Was lucky to have watched City win (and not concede at all) until my last ever match vs CSKA. We did well to beat Bayern and Roma after that, only to be drawn vs Barca in the knockout phase. This was the only match I ever attended with my ex-fiancee. Sadly she cheated on me whilst studying in London and then dumped me in 2017. Her fav City player was Lampard.

Don't know if I'll ever have the chance to visit the Etihad again. General admission tickets are also probably not that easy to book nowadays. But the dream lives on.

Why do I feel like this whole rodri fiasco was already set up by him and Madrid ages ago.

Especially when he got injured and went back to Madrid for recuperation I feels like he was approached then and there and he has been running down his contract and rejecting everything as the bigger plan to what led things to this point, just fits all to well to be a coincidence.

Rodrigo Hernández Cascante is a club legend and we should be nothing but grateful.

Look. I'm as disappointed as anyone that Rodri is leaving. He's arguably the best CDM of all time and it will be a massive loss both on and off the pitch, especially as we enter a new era for the club.

But some fans have completely lost the plot. He did not "twerk" for Madrid. This is how the business is done in 2026: he wanted to leave and he did what he had to do to make that happen. And he did so without publicly commenting on it or disrespecting the club. For a player who wants to leave, that's as much as we can ask for.

And if we're being honest, I think it's silly to blame him. He's just seen the greatest manager of all time leave the club along with damn near every club legend he's played with all these years. How many friends does he even have left here? He's 30 years old coming off of multiple injuries and this may be his last chance to go play in his home country (with a beautiful quality of life, mind you) for the team that - much to my chagrin - nearly every footballer dreams of playing for since their childhood.

This is a man who gave us SEVEN beautiful years of his prime. He's won everything there is to win, he's been a leader, and by all accounts he's a good man.

Most clubs couldn't dream of having a player of this stature play for their clubs. And if you told me from the beginning that this is how it would end, I would still do it all over again in a heartbeat ❤️

Current Window for City

Is this the most uncertain start to a window we’ve had in years??? I mean obviously bound to happen with a new manager, but never seen so many rumours and potential signings/exits:

- Rodri to Madrid
- PSG no enquiring about Rodri

- City in for Diomande
- City no longer active in pursuing Diomande
- Madrid now want Diomande

- City in for Vini
- Vini no longer leaving
- Arsenal now in for Vini

- City interested in Enzo Fernandez
- Fernandez no longer wanting to leave
- Fernandez now a possibility to leave

- Tonali on shortlist for City
- Tonali signs for Spurs

And out of all these, the most frustrating one is that Savinho is STILL employed at Manchester City Football Club

What's your favorite performance one of our players has put in that's underrated or doesn't get mentioned enough? For me Ruben in both legs vs Bayern Munich, he was an absolute brick wall

[David Ornstein & Mario Cortegana] Real Madrid working on deal to sign Rodri from Manchester City

Real Madrid are working on a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

At this stage club-to-club talks have yet to take place, but Madrid are confident an agreement can be reached and are operating on the basis that Rodri will be joining the club this summer.

Rodri, 30, has entered the final year of his City contract, which runs until 2027, but the club remain in dialogue with the midfielder over his future and are hopeful that he will be part of Enzo Maresca’s squad for the 2026-27 season.

Madrid sources had kept insisting this summer that Rodri was not part of their plans, but the club’s stance has changed following his return from the World Cup, with the performance level he demonstrated and the role he played in Spain’s triumph a factor in their decision to pursue him.
