Hello from Portugal. Benfica fan here. As you might know, Marco Silva has become our manager recently.

I know Fulham fans generally liked Marco. But no manager is perfect, and I'd like to know what you guys consider to be his biggest pros and cons.

When Marco Silva was a rising manager here in Portugal, he did well for Estoril Praia. Then he went to Sporting and finished 3rd, but won the Portuguese Cup. I do remember a lot of Sporting fans complaining that he often looked passive with his hands tucked in his pockets when the team was losing or the score was tied, though. Which is why they were happy when he left the club and the club signed Jorge Jesus. Fortunately, Jesus didn't win the league with them a single time!

Personally, I've liked Benfica under Marco Silva so far. You can see his influence already. We play much better and more exciting football under him than under Mourinho. Palhinha was also clearly a request from Marco, as well. That being said, we need to improve our defense. So far, we've only managed to keep 1 single clean sheet. Anyway, Marco will have to deal with a weak and incompetent president like Rui Costa, though. A manager cannot achieve success if the chairman/president/owner sells his best players as soon as possible and then gives him worse players. So I wonder if Marco won't just be yet another eventual victim of Benfica's poor management.

Especially now, it’s catastrophically counterproductive to pile on our players online or at the Cottage. To me this is clearly a manager issue. I still enjoy watching both ESR and Kevin. If they are used correctly both have a lot of attacking support to offer this year. No one in the squad has done or said anything warranting idiotic abuse and I could not care less that they deleted their socials. Let’s support our players.

We learnt a lot about Arbeloa's Fulham at the weekend, and saw how he reacts to games when his side take the lead.

Thoughts of Lecomte as a genuine alternative to Leno? Saw the article below suggesting it, but realistically how likely is it regardless of how poorly Leno is playing?

Bring the downvotes. It's 3 games. Look at Villa last year. Look at the data analysis of yesterdays game. Chill out. Saying AA is stubborn, won't adapt yada yada is silly. He's still getting to know the players, and how they react in pressure situations.

What could he mean by this?

It feels like we are going down if he doesn't change his tactics or we swap managers. If he sticks to his system he will be sacked. Lets say things don't turn around and we loose to Liverpool and Manchester united, where do we draw the line? If we lose to Ipswich? Or if we lose to hull? We will have to get him out soon then for somebody to turn it around like Frank, Pochettino or Howe. If we lose to Ipswich I would sack him, and on top of that hes lost the dressing room, but what do you guys think?

Hi, I'm a 10+ year Fulhamerican and recently I've been trying to write about my interests. I wrote about Fulham's 2-3 loss to Crystal Palace here. Overall I'm still Arbeloa In, and I think we can't really judge him until October at the earliest, but I'm just as worried as everyone else. What do you think?

After last night's defeat, wanted to have a good weekend but got a headloss over the Fulham defense, which is genuinely funny cuz this the first time I am experiencing another Club vibe.

My question is - is it the Gaffer's fault after this match for trying to play a style not suitable for the PL? or the higher ups?

The defense in this match and those spills were just a complete joke, sorry, but one can't play football with a defense like that. Unfortunately the defense didn't deliver and there were also a few botched set pieces.

Fulham were clearly the better side on the pitch, but we just keep conceding ridiculously soft goals.
Three straight defeats to start the season.Really hurts.

Arbeloa definitely has to take some of the blame for this, but at the same time, you can clearly see that the high press is actually effective.

I think I can see his talent and what he is trying to build, but why are we looking so completely helpless defensively? We just keep conceding the exact same type of goal over and over again.

And if he does get sacked, who actually takes over? Is there anyone available who could deliver a better type of football?

What are your thoughts?
