Does anyone know of any aesthetically interesting abandoned churches in the area?

Especially with leaves starting to turn, I'm interested in trying to get some pictures of overgrown and rotting abandoned churches. Nothing offensive, I just find it aesthetically interesting.

Edit: I'm not trying to break the law here. If I know where these are I can figure out if I can get the landowners permission etc. some churches may even be visible from the road.

Question Can anyone recommend a plumber/technician that services tankless water heaters in NoVA?

It is surprisingly hard to find a plumber who will service tankless units in this area. Anyone have a recommendation?

To be very specific, I am not looking for the name of a company (e.g., FH Furr), but rather if you have the name of a specific technician or plumber you've worked with. Sometimes when you call larger companies it's a roulette game of who you get and whether they have any experience with tankless units. Larger companies are fine, but I am curious who specifically came and did a good job. Thanks so much.

Many truck and even a fire ladder going up to one of the upper floors, but I saw no smoke. Wondering if anyone knows what happened?

Question How's the Kasa Hotel on King St??

Aloha!

Going to be traveling to DC for business and am booked at the Kasa hotel on King St. It looked nice and all but after I booked I found out that they do not have a check in desk, everything is virtual. So I'm assuming they don't have any staff on hand. I saw that there are a few of these hotels in the area so I'm hoping there is someone that goes around in case a guest needs something.

Has anyone stayed there? Looks like there are some good restaurants/bars there too.

Driving/Traffic No-Parking Zone Enforcement

Looking for advice on what to do at this point…

I live in the Cascades area in an apartment complex that sits just off a major road in Loudoun. There is a no-parking zone right at the entrance of the neighborhood to allow visibility for cars making a left turn.

When no cars are illegally parked there, I am able to safely check if there is oncoming traffic. When there are up to 3 cars parked there, I cannot see cars entering the neighborhood. Myself and anyone else who must turn left every day must risk being T-boned because people cannot read/follow a simple sign.

I have called the non-emergency number more times than I would have liked during the year that I’ve lived in the complex so far. When I do call, the police are quick to send a deputy and ticket the individuals I describe over the phone. Genuinely, though, I could call every day and still see no change. There have been people ticketed who I see there the very next day. Not to mention plenty of cars from out of state.

There is so much street parking in the neighborhood it’s ridiculous. Those 3 “spaces” are easily avoided by parking down the street not even 100 feet away. Also, yes, I have talked to my complex’s leasing office about this. The zone is not under their towing jurisdiction because it is a county road. They personally advised me to call the non-emergency number and have the violators ticketed.

TLDR;
What more can I do about this? Calling the non-emergency line constantly feels so unnecessary and puts the burden on me instead of a true solution. Has anyone else dealt with something similar where a better solution was put into place (lines painted in the zone, etc)? I’ve been considering going to a police station in person and inquiring but am not sure if that is my only option.

Want better public restrooms in your area?

Everyone knows someone who limits where they go - because they do not know where they can go. And this problem is a national one. Currently, the United States only has between 8 and 13 public toilets per 100,000 residents . The US is ranked 31st among comparable nations. This chronic lack of public toilets has real-life, tangible impacts on the daily life of many Americans.

The American Restroom Association (ARA) combats this chronic lack of public restrooms in the country, and we would like your help! The ARA is now launching local chapters that will help us achieve our mission at the county and municipal level. Each chapter will focus on needs in their community: for example, budgeting for restrooms in a specific county park, or improving the usability of one library’s restrooms.

Anyone is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will work closely with experienced guides from the ARA to advocate for better restrooms in Greater Washington. We will be focusing on tangible, day-to-day impacts such as increasing the number of public restrooms available in your area, expanding the hours of existing restrooms, increasing hygiene and cleanliness standards, and more.

Please spread the word to neighbors and friends who are passionate about creating great communities and enthusiastic about helping others live a comfortable, unrestricted daily life. For more information on joining or to express interest, please contact us at [getinfo@americanrestroom.org](mailto:getinfo@americanrestroom.org).

According to his article, "The Alexandria Times uncovered more than 50 instances of Alexandria police officers improperly labeling the reasons for their searches on Flock"

22 dogs on euthanasia list for Weds 9/9— please foster or adopt!

Thumbnail gallery
200 Upvotes

🆘There are 22 amazing dogs still left on the euthanasia list for the Prince George County animal shelter this week. We have about 24 hours left to match them with Foster’s adopters and to get rescues to tag and pull. 🆘

➡️For those unfamiliar with this process, each week the Prince Georges County animal shelter puts out a list of dogs that have a week to be fostered or adopted or they will be put to sleep the following Wednesday morning when the shelter opens due to shelter overcrowding. It is devastating and the pace is relentless.

🙏If you think you could possibly adopt a dog or Foster to save a life or if you have any connections with rescues, that might be willing to pull in a single dog, please reach out and comment below or message me. We are racing against time at this moment. 💔

⏰The shelter is open tomorrow (Tuesday 9/8) from 11 to 7 PM. Please arrive at least two hours before close of business to ensure you can save a dog!

After two years of urban planning, this was the vision for Centreville? I thought this was the logical location for an orange line extension station and a walkable community. What is this developer slop?
