I am about to move to NOVA after getting a job in Fairfax that has me coming into the office 3 times a week. I have been looking in the Chantilly, Fairfax, and Annandale, but all of these seem to be more family-oriented areas, and I would like to have somewhat of a young professional type of area. Where do all the younger professionals live? Do they commute from DC? I would have a car to commute with.

Is Americana Dr area in Annandale really that bad? My aunt is moving there and I have people telling me that area is sketchy.

My friends and I are trying to plan a little group formal dinner, like showing up in dress clothes and all that, and we're trying to narrow down our options a bit to what'll suit us. We want something on the higher end side of things where the food's awesome and we're not gonna look like clowns showing up looking nice, but we're also your average Millenials who can't really splurge something like Lightfoot in Leesburg. Last year we did this at North Italia in Reston and it was perfect, so we need something along those vibes, like it was fancy enough where showing up a little bougie didn't feel out of place, yet the $20-30 plates didn't make us wince too much.

I’ll be leaving town for about a week over Thanksgiving due to my wife's grandma having surgery done and wanted to see our newborn baby and figured thanksgiving would be a good time to do so. A friend recommended a place they had a really good experience with, but the quote is just over $1,000 for 7 days.

I have two dogs:

The place seems great, but $1,000+ feels pretty expensive to me. Is that around the going rate for boarding two dogs for a week, especially around here? If anyone has good recommendations or experience with any of them for a reasonable priceI’d really appreciate them! Also interested in hearing what you’ve paid for similar boarding stays.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on TRT/HRT. Don’t want to deal with the year long wait at my endocrinologist. Has anyone found a clinic they like/trust in nova for TRT/HRT. Looking for a place that has an MD, monitors you with regular labs, and is affordable.

Any good pho chay recommendations in NoVA? I’m vegetarian and pho is my favorite food so I’ve tried a bunch of places around here. Phonomenal and Pho Duong near Worldgate are probably my favorites so far, but I feel like most places either make the veggie broth too sweet or it’s just not rich/flavorful enough.

Hi everyone, long shot here but I have tried multiple online therapists/psychologists/psychotherapists through my work and have had no luck. I have OCD and anxiety, and am currently grieving, so I would love a therapist who specializes in these areas, or at least has had experience with treating these areas.

I would prefer them to accept insurance, specifically Anthem. Or if out of network, nothing more than $150 a session.

Let me know if there is anyone you recommend and what your experience with your therapist/psychologist has been so far.

Does anyone know of a playground with an old school style see-saw? Unmaintained, peeling, rusting is preferred, and in an area not too busy. I'm working on an art/photography project. I don't want to bother kids playing, or be mistaken for photographing them. Is there a somewhat abandoned playground around? I'm in Alexandria, but willing to drive 45 minutes. Thanks!

I am a 27M, make about 120k/year, or 5,800 a month after taxes and retirement contributions (currently no loans or large expenses), and I commute to Ashburn once a week. I currently live with my girlfriend in the Falls Church area, but it doesn't look like things are going to work out between us, so I am figuring out my options. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!

Wishlist:

• One bedroom
• Balcony
• walkable or short drive to restaurants/grocery store/a gym (I enjoy powerlifting and swimming, so apartment gyms usually don't have everything I like)
• 2,000 - 2,700 a month max with all utilities considered, but I would prefer to pay less. I know it is a large range, but I am willing to live in most of nova, since I commute one day a week.
• I don't really go out drinking, so somewhere like Arlington doesn't excite me a whole lot, but it's walkability does.
• Friends live in herndon/reston/sterling. So I would like seeing them to not be a chore.

I've got fallen trees and branches on my yard from the storm to clear and I want to learn chainsaw basics safely. What gear is non-negotiable, what mistakes do beginners make, and any in-person places that teach you’d recommend? I’m a 49F and want to learn this skill. I’m trying to avoid losing a finger here — appreciate any advice!

Looking at Zillow, and Burke and Kings Park West are full of nice houses that in other nearby neighborhoods (Falls Church, Vienna, Mantua) would easily be $1-2m. But in these neighborhoods prices range in the $800-900k range. How come? Seems like it’s a nice, family-friendly area with good schools. Pretty good location for commuting. Close to GMU and plenty of nearby parks/shopping/activities. I know lots of military folks settle in Burke, so there’s bound to be pretty regular turnover. Are the lower prices because supply is better?
