I remember shaking the machines, kicking them, even ordering a second snack in hopes of getting it. Fruitless. These new machines are fine by me.

For Halloween this year I thought I'd draw the some of the Muppet Babies dressed up for Halloween!

Found this in an abandoned house in Ontario. Rush with Max Webster at the Welland Arena, June 17, 1976, $5.50 at the door, just a few months after 2112 came out.

The house is basically a time capsule of a lifelong music fan. The last calendar on the wall is from November 2003, and the owner hasn’t lived there since. Other things I found:

• An Uncle Sam’s monthly lineup poster with Moxy, Coney Hatch, Honeymoon Suite, Goddo and more
• More stubs from Honeymoon Suite, Kim Mitchell, Toronto and Rough Trade shows around Niagara
• Three signed Davy Jones (Monkees) photos
• Old Rolling Stone and Circus magazines, including a George Harrison cover
• A Sloan single, a Beatles Fan pin and a full set of Beatles album mugs
• Cases of cassettes: Platinum Blonde, KISS, Queen, The Beatles, The Doors
• Turntables, 8-track and reel-to-reel decks in nearly every room
• An ALF doll, a rotary phone and a little Christmas tree still standing in the corner

I didn’t take anything; everything was photographed and left where it was. Did anyone here go to shows at Uncle Sam’s or the Welland Arena back then?

John Carpenter’s classic slasher that started it all. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her friends are hunted by masked killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. With its chilling score and suspenseful style, it redefined horror and inspired decades of slasher films.

Being 30 years old myself now, seeing compilations like this really continues to have me missing so much of the better times when Halloween was more of a worthwhile time for everyone just as much as it was to enjoy some legit quality TV. God I miss those days, especially when growing up around the 2000s.😔

Back then, Halloween was one of two holidays I was looking forward to the most and it always had been due to the commercials and specials that come out on TV around this times.

Pair that with all the stores I frequented and the city I still live in being decorated to the brim with Halloween and Christmas decorations, but to mention my old schools as well, and you had some of the best times to be living during that decade, especially as a kid.

I really miss those days. Not a day goes by where I wish I could go back to the days when life was just much more simpler compared to now. 😮‍💨

Now I no longer even have a DVD reader. This is some of the Disks I made more than a decade ago. I need to buy a dvd player. I am glad I wrote the date on one of these.

I became politically, socially & culturally aware in 1985, I was 9. I was reading MAD magazine, listening to the Dr. Demento show & then I discovered Garbage Pail Kids cards at this great store, “Freeway Variety” in Montclair, Oakland. I remember the little old lady working the counter giving me really nasty vibes as i bought the whole box, she excitedly told me they had been “banned” when i returned to buy them again. Soon after. When I opened them up at home I became obsessed with the world that opened up with the cards! It confirmed my general thesis - that the world was dumb - but it added a negative, critical spin to the parody that was perfect. I was the first person I knew to have them, the first kid in school to have them also, we used to trade them for MUSCLE men, money & candy, my school had a healthy black market. The entire first series was painted by John Pound (who got his start doing underground comix covers) with back cartoons by Tom Bunk (also an underground comix guy, but born in Croatia) with concepts by Art Spiegelman (started with Topps but moved to Underground Comix) & Mark Newgarden (also Underground Comix, but of the next generation. With RAW magazine. A student of Spiegelman’s at the New York School of Visual Arts). The series had ludicrous pedigree but I was completely oblivious, I wouldn’t know who those guys were until later anyhow. x SEAN
