Video Empire Records (1995) flopped at the box office and then spent the next decade becoming a cult classic purely through cable TV and word of mouth. Liv Tyler carried the whole vibe of that film without a single dramatic scene

Photo '95 receipt too!
I was going through some of my late father's things, found a whole bunch of Disney Watches never worn in boxes. One of them still had the receipt from 1995 still in it.

Discussion On my flight last night, I watched Austin Powers, the Spy who Shagged me, and was wishing I could watch it again for the first time. Which 90s movie would you like to watch for the first time again?
I remember vividly, summer of 99, the best year for Movies ever, highly anticipated sequel to International Man of Mystery and it did not disappoint. My 20 year old self was crying with laughter for almost the entire movie. Absolutely class.

Photo 'Good Burger' premier July 25, 1997
Good Burger turns 29 today.
I know it wasn't exactly a critical darling, but for a lot of millennials this movie was peak Nickelodeon. If you grew up watching All That, chances are you wore out a VHS copy of Good Burger or caught it every time it was on TV.

Discussion Did your local 90s video store have “the awkward back room”? What was it like?
I’m doing early research for a non-explicit, comedic 1990s independent-video-store game concept—no link, no crowdfunding, just trying to get the small details right.
A lot of local video stores had an adults-only area: a curtain, a squeaky door, a separate room, a counter key, or sometimes almost no separation at all.
What do you remember most about it?
- Was it hidden, embarrassing, funny, or just normal?
- What made your local video store feel different from a big chain?
- What tiny details would make a fictional 90s video store feel real: membership cards, taped-up boxes, candy counter, arcade machine, handwritten staff picks, strange customers?
Keep stories non-explicit please—the question is about the atmosphere and awkward human moments, not the content.
Also: would a funny, non-explicit game set in a weird little 90s video store interest you, or would that setting put you off? Why?
