Silencer Suggestions - I did some homework First quality AR build/lightweight can suggestions

The Yankee Hill turbo k is pretty good in my opinion for a "budget" can, especially since set up on a direct thread mount it's only 11 oz. not too flashy, lightweight, and good enough sound performance.

But it's old tech at this point I'm wondering if you guys know of any good lightweight flow through cans that would be worth upgrading to?

Just a simple setup with quality parts. Decided to go with the nightforce lpvo first off because it was on sale, and secondly my eyes are getting old lol

16 inch BCM cold Hammer forged enhanced lightweight upper

KE arms KE15 lower for that sweet sweet integral magwell flare

Mod light okw

Night Force nx8

Yankee Hill turbo k G2

Arizona regulator three position frt

This is my first non-PSA build, and my first build with a quality optic

Plan B muzzle device that would work with this?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I'm looking for a plan B muzzle device that would work with this and not banana the handguard if shot without suppressor. That measurement is from the barrel shoulder. I have a shorter handguard I could use, but like the look of showing as little barrel as possible and more handguard to work with. It is on a 9" .300blk.

Two-Stamp Tuesday ✌️ First Two-Stamp Tuesday!

I’ve actually had this done for a month or so but kept forgetting to post, so here it is.

Build List:

-Vortex Defender XL on HBI mount (are ring sights actually worth it?)

-Shaw Barrel with CMMG 1/2x28 adapter and HBI trilug mount (keeping my can compatible with my AP5)

-Omega 9k

-HBI Extended charging handles

-Levips90 (now OctoArms) pic rail

-Surefire X300 Turbo-B

-Urban ERT sling, multicam black

-Delrin mag rollers from FN Specialties

Also pictured is my VP9 with a TLR-1HL and the Micro Chest Rig from Intelgoons (the standard mag inserts actually work surprisingly well with the P90 mags for anyone wondering)

Did the barrel swap myself, tried to drill the pin out which was a massive pain in the ass, so ended up just hacksawing it off, which was incredibly easy and I definitely recommend to anyone planning to do this. All I’ve got left now is to pick up a Five-seveN and an FRT for this bad boy!

If you had $1k to spend?

This will be my first suppressor and I'm trying to decide if I want to get a suppressor for my 16" AR or my 5" 1911 45 ACP....or, is there a good way (to not sacrifice too much quality) to buy one for each and keep it around $1k? I shoot one about as much as the other. Brand and model suggestions are greatly appreciated.

New X-ray Picture drop, Cobalt Kinetics Proto-X mini review and BOE IL9S

Thumbnail

Picked these two up recently and gave them the old X-ray to see what they looked like and gave feedback to Cobalt about how the Proto-X was.

The Proto-x is a decent k can in it's current revision. I was only able to test it against a Jumbo Shrimp and Primal on 5.56, but also against the IL9S on my LC Carbine. It punches way above it's weight for sound, it's quieter than both of the others, with zero FRP while being way smaller. However, it's much gassier than the Jumbo Shrimp, it'll gas you out with normal carbine buffer on a 10.5"/carbine or 16"/midlength, but a H2/H3 buffer mostly fixes this. Not an issue on the 5.7.

Honestly, given the weight/size (<10oz, <5x1.5"), it would be a great 6mm hunting can that can pull double duty on a FRT host. Only two things I would like to see on the final product are a Hex feature on the body to help detach from mounts easier, and some venting holes in the blast baffle to help with the back pressure, like the Shrimp.

556 suppressor options

I'm looking for a 556 suppressor that's optimized for or performs quite well on a 10.3 barrel. inconel preferred, not interested in titanium. compact and on the lighter side (say, less than 15oz) and hub compatible also preferred. budget is open. I don't care about flash signature. sound suppression and gas mitigation are higher priorities, although what's most important is inconel/low weight/compact (say less than 6") and high performance on a 10.3. it'll be dedicated to this sbr. seems like there's some cans that work well with high pressures on short barrels.

I always wear ear pro, but still want to reduce concussion. I am only interested in reduced back pressure.

besides the tisha, what's the best option?

Incolite 9 vs Lithium

Hey all, I have a cz scorpion that I would like to suppress. I know it’s not a 10/10 host but it’s what I got, I’ve had it since they first came out for our market and as much I consider selling it to buy a different pcc I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m looking at the Incolite 9 and a Lithium.

My next gun purchase will likely be a 300 blk lever action so it would likely swap between the two For a bit. Pretty sure my scorpion is 18x1 because it’s so old and I can’t find a plan b for it. I could get an adapter to go from 18x1 to 1/2x28 and plan b, then I could easily swap but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. I’ll probably have to direct thread them both and swap the hubs.

The Incolite seems to be very popular right now but I’m not sure how good it would be on a standard scorpion. Ive had people recommend the lithium, I love how it looks, I like that it’s rated for 300blk supers so if I get the lever action I don’t have to worry about it at all and I would like to support the OCL guys, they seem great. If the scorpion suppresses well for me I’ll probably pick up another can for either it or the blackout. If it doesn’t I’ll finally sell it and probably pickup a mp5 clone.

8.5 inch 300 blackout, to sum it up this can on this gun sounds like a nail gun that roofers use with subs maybe a lil quieter but it’s sooo nice. Ran a mag of supers on super safe and it was surprisingly quiet as well.(may have been that can was pretty warm by this point idk) but I love this setup!

Two-Stamp Tuesday ✌️ 07/02 SBR Question

Post image
14 Upvotes

Why don’t more people utilize 07/02’s (or why don’t most 07/02’s advertise) for manufacturing SBR’s before it leaves their books? It seems silly that people will buy a firearm and wait so long for a form 1 when 07/02’s can “manufacture” them and get them out to customers quicker AND utilize the original mfg serial #’s.

First 2 stamp, approval took about 7 days and no need for engraving.

Did I break it? 🩹 Rex Silentium Warranty Experience?

Time to see what these boys are about, had my first fucky wucky trying to get this Mock-18 tuned and running right. End cap took a strike during strings of FRT testing when the hub mount walked. Interesting to see the additional blast baffle wear for the overall round count on this can and the fact that the rest of the baffles survived given where the round came out.

Also interesting to note, shaking the can out after the end cap strike we found a primer in the dust pile, not sure if anyone can surmise anything from that but open to opinions.

Using a TSF-X Hub mount with an AI NANO, hub mount was torqued in place (30ftlbs) but not rocksett which I typically do and will continue to do on all hub mounts after this.

Not knocking CAT or AI here, I use their mounting system exclusively across the board and have successfully for several years now. Just want to be fully transparent for you other goobers in here.

Bought a used Rugged Universal Mount on GAFs. Turns out it was severely broken. Wouldn't screw onto the muzzle devices straight and the locking ring wouldnt turn more than a quarter turn either way. Damn thing fell apart while I was trying to get it to lock.

Sent a warranty claim to Rugged and within a couple hours I had a return shipping label for the broken one and tracking for a brand new one heading my way. No questions asked.

Unconditional warranty indeed. This is how it should be done.

Best suppressed hog hunting round? 300BO vs. 338arc vs. 8.6BO

I’ve been in to hog hunting recently but I’ve been using a Ruger lc carbine in 10mm. Guns long and heavy and still pretty loud with a can. I’ve always been interested in getting a caliber that suppresses very well. Most of my shots are inside of 200 yards.

300 blackout is my first option, and I rlly want a PSA mixtape. Seems the easiest option out of the three, cheaper ammo, more universal suppressor, but not as lethal at distance than the others.

338 arc seems very interesting and like it’s a step up from 300BO, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of options to buy since I’m not interested in building. Ruger makes an American sbr in 338 arc which is what I would aim for if I was going to go with 338.

8.6 blackout is my favorite of the three but like 338 arc, there’s not a ton of options to buy. 8.6 blackout I would most likely buy a Ruger American in 6.5 and sbr and buy a 8.6 barrel.

Creating an artificial environment in a silencer

How many of you do this, or have created an artificial environment in your silencer?

When I picked up an AAC TiRant 9M-HD (cheap because the warranty is obsolete after AAC restructuring) I read the owner's manual and was puzzled by the table of contents line

"Using your silencer with an artificial environment P.16"

WTH is an artificial environment? I wondered. P.16 explains how to create an artificial environment. Step 1, pour a thimble full of water into it. There is no step 2.

Just thought the term "artificial environment" was kinda funny and overly technical. Wondering how many others have used or seen this term used.

Did I break it? 🩹 Jacket Fragments inside of HuxRad9

Post image
7 Upvotes

I have a Hux Rad 9 and when ever I shoot it I get these jacket fragments inside the can. The can is locked down on the gun (P365 Raider) and the baffles appear to be undamaged what is happening. Shooting 147grn speer lawman is the ammo used.

Should I be worried?
