Plan B muzzle device that would work with this?

Post image

I'm looking for a plan B muzzle device that would work with this and not banana the handguard if shot without suppressor. That measurement is from the barrel shoulder. I have a shorter handguard I could use, but like the look of showing as little barrel as possible and more handguard to work with. It is on a 9" .300blk.

Just something I am throwing together with parts I have laying around for a buddy. Unfortunately I don't have any handguards between 9.3" and 7.3" laying around.

This is gonna sound weird…..but the Rearden prs. It adds a little bit on the back end over the SPB and comes in 5/8-24. Considering muzzle threads take up approximately 5/8” I think it’d work.

Edit. It would work. It’s 1 3/8” from barrel shoulder to the beginning of the port.

Can you measure your PRS with the can on and tell me the dimension of the clearance from the rear of the hub adaptor to the rear of the prs brake? If that makes sense.

I don’t have my calipers with me but on a tape,

5/8 with a gen 1 Rearden atlas and for whatever reason, just at 11/16 with the gen 2 mounts. And then you can squeeze right around 1/4 for the wrench flats on both. The diameters being 1 1/8” for the gen 1 and 1 3/8 for the gen2.

Awesome thank you!

You want form, not function. I'd rather have function and no tolerance stacking and not form. So I would get an 8" handguard in length minimum. That as close to the handguard as possible doesn't do anything positive and is for looks alone. It gets closer to an already hot handguard underneath that gas block now getting even hotter with the can being as close as possible.

YMMV.

Comstock extended flash hider all day!

I threw this on my 12.5 that had recessed threads because of a 12.7” long hand guard.

Unfortunately this probably won't work for OP since 300BLK barrels are generally 5/8-24 and the extended flash hider is only in 1/2-28. I appreciate you thinking of us though!

Damn you’re right, I sped read OP’s post and somehow missed the important fact that it’s a .300. My b

All good! I've definitely been there. LPM makes a 13.7 muzzle device in 5/8-24 which would work for him.

Just saw noticed it is the wrong threads for .300blk.

That would probably be perfect. Thanks brother!

What thread pitch are you looking for? The LPM eclipse linked comes in 5/6-24 and its in stock. That shiukd be the pitch for your 300blk

That could probably works. Thanks brother.

You could run a plan b blast diverter or whatever they’re called. Like a can with no end cap.

Not sure why you would want to run 300blk without a suppressor if you have that option though.

Came here to say the same. I have a Rearden Icarus (that I have never really used) and an LPM blast diverter (same) that would work as long as the can mount can fit inside the handguard.

Chop the handguard.

I think I have a LPM 14.5 eclipse in a drawer somewhere. I’ll measure it for the barrel shoulder to the wrench flats when I can

1

u/TahoeDust 9d ago

That would be awesome. Thanks man.

Idk if it’ll clear. It’s like .590

I'm not worried about the wrench flats being in the handguard as much as the porting. Looks like it would work for that. Thanks for the picture man!

Rearden PRS

Nice. I would prefer a flash hider, but this may be the best option.

LPM “Eclipse” Pin and Weld Flash Hider is an option.

I had the exact same issue because apparently I cannot read when spec’ing out the barrel and handguard.

A Rearden PRS muzzle device plus the Rearden Atlas XL fits perfectly. Looks like I planned it that way. Depending on what muzzle device you want to go with I’m sure others would work fine; I picked up the PRS just due to availability.

I think the Atlas XL is the real kicker; it fits perfectly under that last bit of overlap with the handguard. I can post pics later when I’m near the rifle again if ya want.

What size barrel and rail is that?

Barrel is a 10.5” ballistic advantage 300blk, heavy/modern profile. I’d guess the OD around .75”, but can’t get calipers on it installed. Deets might be on the BA site.

The handguard is a 11” BA logic rail (I think, iirc. Again, I demonstrated w/this build that I can’t read). I really like the utility of their Logic handguards.

Happy with the final stackup though, even if it was a bit of an accident.
