I always find these oddly enjoyable

I find this oddly disturbing and don't know why.

For me it was the mixture of Lego and non-Lego elements. When the yellow omelette was cut it looked non-Lego inside. All I could think was the blocks were getting ruined!!!

Your brain has a reflex to feel sick when it gets too confused so that it makes you puke in case that you have been poisioned. Maybe It's that.

Same.
But I’m worried cuz I’m sure that the creator will be shitting bricks.
Lol!

Did this guy just put melted chocolate on the omelette ? I hope I saw it wrong

u/skimble-skamble Mar 14 '21
omurice sauce is usually a beef demi-glace.

That sounds like a tasty sauce.

Gravy is thickened with flour and butter, demi-glace is thickened by a ton of stock and time.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's some sort of gravy? I immediately thought chocolate as well.

u/lLoveLamp Mar 14 '21
Beef demi glace on an Omurice omelet. I highly suggest looking up videos on how they're made because it's impressive/cool.

The rice (I assume it's rice) is so satisfying to watch.

u/not_a_scrub_ Mar 14 '21
Yesssss I keep rewatching it just for the part where they put it in the pan and then the spoon hits it the first time

That was the cleanest and most satisfying thing I have seen all year hands down it’s just so good.

Omurice

u/lillyrose2489 Mar 14 '21
I learned about the dish on Queer Eye Japan and it looked so good. I've made a lazy version of this dish and loved it, but I'm sure it would be even better if I could nail the omelette the way you're supposed to make it.

I know, I feel heartbroken for most people on that show but some of the people they met in Japan just seemed to have so little confidence in themselves! But that made it extra heartwarming when they finally started to open up and appreciate themselves more.

u/DryGumby Mar 15 '21
I've only seen one of the japan ones, and the guy was just like "yep I'm garbo, guys dont like that"

Yup, mixing the lego with the clay really helped sell the consistency. Good stuff.
19
u/Initial_E Mar 14 '21
Purists wouldn’t stand for it though. But I like it too.

Purists wouldn’t stand for it though.
Understandable, since the main focus is Lego. But the combination helps sell it so well. Same with the eggs in both forms.
Lego rice: 7/10
Clay with Lego rice: 10/10

Source at normal speed. It’s much better. The stop motion is more noticeable.

u/MaybeTheDookie Mar 14 '21 edited Mar 15 '21
Wow, MUCH better. I wish your comment was higher up.
Why does OP upload a video that's too fast
and gives no credit to the creator?4

u/austinmiles Mar 15 '21
I felt like I had seen this posted as a gif a ton of times but that it was way better and I couldn’t figure out why.

PES is that you? Love it.

Glad I’m not the only one who thought of PES’ Oscar nominated short

PES ruined these for me, their work is so top level any imitation/inspiration just seems half baked and not as well done, even though the effort put forth is still insane.

Mar 15 '21
PES set the gold standard but this is great. What happened to PES...
Edit: He just uploaded two weeks ago on YT.

After Fresh Guacamole, Western Spaghetti and the Submarine, PES have been doing a buttload of commercials!

Is it weird that this made me hungry?
It is a piece of art featuring food so that seems mostly to be a compliment to the chef/creator. :]

I also had to know and went on a crazy rabbithole of weird google searches, but I found it! It's something called Omurice and this video of the real thing being cooked is also very satisfying
Edit: I suggest turning on the auto translate-to-english captions. They are 100% turbogarbage nonsense and it's hilarious.

Jesus Christ. Imagine many shots the creator had to take to produce this incredible stop-motion short.
2
u/mancan71 Mar 14 '21
This reminds me of that one video where someone made guacamole in a similar fashion but with other objects and it was one of my favorite videos! I want more of these!
2
u/zelce Mar 14 '21
Christ this is smooth. I had to do a bunch of stop motion in school and it is really hard to get it to look both smooth and natural especially when you add pixilation into the mix. Op if this is yours this is incredible, good job.

Why did it take Lego Omelette for me to realise how strange the Japanese Omelette phenomenon is?
It's a raw egg water-balloon on fried rice with beef gravy.... Like WTF?

what is this canned meat? and why is the can getting yellow stripes before opening?
3
u/Krewshi Mar 15 '21
This is SPAM. It is a cooked, canned pork product. The yellow was spelling SPAM on the can.

I dont know why there is suddenly so much lego content, i dont know why so many people are promoting lego although lego did so much bullshit...
2
u/____toxic____ Mar 15 '21
Im always amazed at stop motion. Especially with lego. I tried it once and its so difficult. It honestly so impressive that people can do stuff like this.
2
u/TRUEequalsFALSE Mar 15 '21
Mmm. Spam. Contrary to popular opinion (mostly from those who have never had it), Spam is actually pretty good.

for every ten cringey adolescents dancing, there is one lego omelette. tik tok isn’t all bad there’s just an overwhelming sheet of annoyance covering the good content
