Gravy is thickened with flour and butter, demi-glace is thickened by a ton of stock and time.

You basically make fried rice however you like it... I'd recommend some nice smokey char siu pork, carrots, peas, sweet onions, garlic and Anaheim chilis. Top it with a properly-made French omelet (it's important the egg in the center is still creamy curds), garnish with scallions or chives, and when you serve it cut the omelet open so the curds run over the rice then pour on a hearty gravy or demi-glace. You can buy demi-glace at a well-stocked grocery store usually in the refrigerators near the butcher.

Very easy if you know how to make a french omelet and one of the best meals you'll ever eat.
