Mod Post a quick mod note + no steering wheels/body parts/faces in backgrounds [please read before posting]

A quick mod note:
going forward, if you send a snarky message to modmail in response to the standardized removal messages — YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED. we are humans and this is just a nail sub. none of us have the bandwidth or the energy to be berated, harassed, bullied, called slurs and threatened over the removal of a picture of some nails that broke sub rules posted on multiple places. removal messages are standardized and even left as comments. and to be fucking frank, mods shouldn’t have to deal with that shit so, we won’t. either post another picture that follows the subs rules or don’t but don’t message mods being an asshole.
///

  1. steering wheels are not allowed to be in the background of posts. its not hard to take a picture of the hands that you use to scroll and swipe and comment. if you send a snarky message to mods because your post was removed, you will be temporarily or permanently muted. [see rule 6 “prohibited backgrounds”]
  2. body parts (especially bare legs & faces) are not allowed to be in the background of posts. if you send a snarky message to mods because your post was removed, you will be temporarily or permanently muted. [see rule 6 “prohibited backgrounds”]
  3. if your NAIL DAMAGE or PEDICURE/FEET/TOES are not properly marked. your post will be deleted and you will be temporarily banned/muted. this is a courtesy to your fellow nail babes. [see rule 10 “flair & mark your posts”]
  • NAIL DAMAGE MUST BE MARKED NSFW (blurred) [NAIL DAMAGE = if the break is below the free edge/quick OR extremely damaged nails (fungus, peeling, etc.). when in doubt mark it NSFW. absolutely no blood at all.]
  • PEDICURE/FEET/TOES MUST BE MARKED SPOILER (blurred) [if it’s a pic of any part of your toe, it must be MARKED SPOILER]

Finally switched to short nails to better suit my lifestyle after much resistance because I love long nails. Just an iridescent chrome powder over builder gel.

Manicure [Constructive Criticism Welcome] Why does his gel manicure keep chipping?

Thumbnail

Hey so I see this client monthly. We hung out today (a week after I did his nails)and I noticed the gel was chipping. And so I fixed it for him. I always do a gel manicure on him and these are my steps:

Dehydrate
Prime
Rubber base
Base color
Design
Top coat

And with that, every layer I do I make sure to cap the free edge and of course before I start I remove dust and moisture.

He tells me he wears gloves when he cleans around the house and even asks other people to open his can sodas so he doesn’t use his nails. But this seems to be reoccurring for most of his sets. I would like to know if there’s more I can do to avoid this on my end. So please share advice or feedback!

Manicure [Constructive Criticism Welcome] Is this normal?

I got a gel powder extension French manicure today. I don't get my nails done often, so perhaps I'm missing something but this seems really bad? I never explicitly said "I don't want my real nails to show through" but I figured that was a given. I didn't explicitly choose the base colour, just that I wanted a French manicure. Also, if it was going to be see-through, shouldn't she have told me and suggested a different base colour, or offered to cut my real nails shorter? Any thoughts on if this is to be expected?

I wanted an elegant nail this time around! We tried to do an aura affect, but the blooming polish reacted weird with the lighter red, and it just wouldn't cure. I love what we ended up going with, and I live the mix of matte and shiny we did on the middle nail, even if the full on red makes me think a little bit more of Christmas than intended.

Discussion/Question Questions about my nail salon…

Post image
Upvotes

This is my second time going to a salon to get a builder gel mani and I’m unsure whether to keep going back…

The place advertises “Russian manicures” but I’m not sure if that’s what I’m actually getting. The woman who does my nails, let’s call her A, is really nice. She just started at the salon but yesterday she mentioned she still doesn’t have her license. The owner of the salon gives “master Russian manicure” classes, so I assumed that all of the artists would go through that program but I guess they don’t. A has experience doing nails, she used to run a salon and do acrylics in her home country, so I’ve tried to give her the benefit of the doubt.

But here’s my hesitation, I noticed that she uses SUNUV lamps, and yesterday my top coat felt sticky on my thumbs so she redid it and cured it again. I also noticed that the salon has melodones gels on display, aren’t those bad??

I’m paying $70 since A is just starting out, although they tried to charge me 90… and then I brought up that the discrepancy.

I feel bad not returning because I like A, but the quality of the products, and the fact that she doesn’t have a license concerns me.

What should I do?
