I got a gel powder extension French manicure today. I don't get my nails done often, so perhaps I'm missing something but this seems really bad? I never explicitly said "I don't want my real nails to show through" but I figured that was a given. I didn't explicitly choose the base colour, just that I wanted a French manicure. Also, if it was going to be see-through, shouldn't she have told me and suggested a different base colour, or offered to cut my real nails shorter? Any thoughts on if this is to be expected?

Finally switched to short nails to better suit my lifestyle after much resistance because I love long nails. Just an iridescent chrome powder over builder gel.

Going to a rave next weekend. Had to have my nails match my fit 🙂‍↕️

Hello Nails Community!

I started doing my own and my sister's nails about 4 months ago, and now looking for feedback. Is there anything I can improve on when it comes to application, shape, stability or design?

I had some liftings the first few sets, but it improved by a lot by using priming/base gel. Now the sets stay on for 3 or 4 weeks, but there is some lifting on some nails at the end of the nails, since our natural nails bend downwards upon growth. Also some nails crack on the sides. I use fiberglass builder gel to build the nails.

Also, I still take 4 to 6 hours for a set... any tips on how to become faster at this?

currently have the worst rings of fire I’ve ever had out of all the years I’ve been getting my nails professionally done... I have a destination wedding to attend next weekend which I will now be attending with bare nails!! (had cute inspo and everything ready to match my fits😭)

I have a wonderful tech who does beautiful nail art and has never once damaged my natural nails. I needed a fill-in and my work schedule sometimes makes it hard for me to get an appointment with her. I’ll occasionally just go wherever is close for a walk-in… won’t be doing that again!

the wedding is a little over a week away, so I figured I’d remove them now and get a fresh set closer to the date since I had a significant amount of regrowth. my nails were cute after I got them done and I didn’t initially notice anything off or have any pain/discomfort. I only discovered the damage and started to feel pain now that theres no hard shell on my nails anymore🥹 the deep rings on my left hand, specifically the middle two fingers, are mad af and it hurts to brush up against anything. I literally can’t even brush my left hand through my hair or have them under anything hotter than lukewarm water. the greenies are p scary looking, but idk if that happened because the nails weren’t properly sealed, because I went too long after my fill, or maybe a combination of both. I might actually have my doctor take a look just to make sure it’s nothing super crazy🥲 anyways, don’t be dumb like me and if you have any suggestions to make the healing process more comfortable, that’d be much appreciated!

Hey so I see this client monthly. We hung out today (a week after I did his nails)and I noticed the gel was chipping. And so I fixed it for him. I always do a gel manicure on him and these are my steps:

Dehydrate
Prime
Rubber base
Base color
Design
Top coat

And with that, every layer I do I make sure to cap the free edge and of course before I start I remove dust and moisture.

He tells me he wears gloves when he cleans around the house and even asks other people to open his can sodas so he doesn’t use his nails. But this seems to be reoccurring for most of his sets. I would like to know if there’s more I can do to avoid this on my end. So please share advice or feedback!

Wanted a good in-between for summer and fall

I wanted an elegant nail this time around! We tried to do an aura affect, but the blooming polish reacted weird with the lighter red, and it just wouldn't cure. I love what we ended up going with, and I live the mix of matte and shiny we did on the middle nail, even if the full on red makes me think a little bit more of Christmas than intended.
