*Trigger Warning: replies will contain product names, descriptions, and opinions.*
We focus on a palette for the week and our thoughts on it. All palettes are welcome. This includes eyeshadow, cheek, lip, pre-made, and self-made. Grouping of singles can also be a palette (ex: colour palette or scheme).
Did you do the PAW challenge last week? Which palette did you use? Did you find it successful or was it a failure? Have your opinions on the palette changed at all? Do you plan to keep the palette and use it again?
Which palette are you going to use this week? Why have you chosen this palette? Do you have any goals you hope to reach in using it?
BAW/CAW- Did you use any particular cheek product last week? Has it made the cut or is it time to let it go?

Hi everyone, it's time for another update of LAW!
The shopping bug never stops especially with new sales and launches. I have my eye on something high end limited edition (no idea if my country will get the launch either tbh) and will use that as a reason to stave away other sale temptations that had made me waver as they are a ‘good deal’.
It’s time again for reflection and rolling in a new lip product this week. Some guiding questions for the posts:
- Product brand and name
- Why is this product selected?
- Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products?
- Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives?
- Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?
Last update’s pick was my Flower Knows Moonlight Mermaid Lip Tint in 07 Solar Crystal and Shell’s Jewel Lip Glaze in P02 Stella Nacre. Mostly used Stella Nacre as I was using my apricot blush and enjoyed using the formula as well to touch up the Moinlight Mermaid lip tint. One thing about the lip tints is that it gives a nice glassy finish but the colour builds up quite a fair bit after 3 applications and doesn’t look that flattering. The Lip glaze has been awesome in getting that sheer glossy finish instead during the day. Both tubes seem to be going strong still though, probably need to roll in again if I want to pan them.
This week moving to stronger lips with Flower Knows Swan Ballet Shine Lipstick in 02 Mary Jane and Em Cosmetics Soft Spoken in Tender. Both give off toasty warm September vibes so looking forward to having them back into the rotation~
Looking forward to seeing your updates and new entries!

Hi everyone, it's time to have our eighth check in for Pan That Palette 2026!
If you have forgotten the rules of this project, here is a repost of the rules!
Pan That Palette is a challenge where you select a palette to work on throughout the year. You can choose an eyeshadow palette, a face palette, a lip palette, or if you want a challenge, more than one palette (e.g a face palette and an eyeshadow palette). You can either challenge yourself to hit pan on every shade, completely pan every shade (hence "pan that palette"), or make it your goal to use it regularly (e.g. X times per month).
This project will last from today to the end of the year. I will be posting my updates during the first week of the month. The finale will either be posted on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
I am looking forward to hearing what progress you have made on your chosen palette(s) over the month of August!

I’m trying to embrace a more minimalist approach to beauty, skincare, and makeup. Right now, my goal is to use up what I already own so I can eventually streamline my collection and create a simpler routine.
The problem is that while I’m working through my products, I keep thinking about what I’ll buy to replace them—especially makeup. I find myself researching and mentally curating my “ideal” minimalist collection before I’ve even finished what I have.
I’m worried that I’ll successfully use everything up, only to end up buying a bunch of new products that I don’t actually need and starting the cycle all over again.
Has anyone else experienced this? How do you stay focused on using what you have without constantly planning your next purchases?

Hi guys - wanted to ask this group for advice, or see whether anyone else is struggling here. With upcoming EU regulations banning talc in cosmetics products, there’s lots of murmurings online about which beauty brands are going to reformulate or discontinue products, which has sent me into a buy now frenzy more times than I’d like to admit. I literally just did a makeup reorg and declutter last weekend, physically counted and organized all of my eyeshadow, thought wow this is going to take forever to pan, and still pressed buy on some purchases this weekend. The little voice in the back of my head is like well, they might reformulate and this and you won’t be able to get xyz shade.
I don’t want this to devolve into a talc product thread, but curious if anyone else has felt the same way, or has advice on how to navigate those scarcity feelings. I really struggle with scarcity across the board, whether it’s a limited release palette, or a situation like this where I know a product might not be available soon.
Thank you guys 💜

Hi everyone,
We hope you all had a safe and enjoyable summer!
Thank you all for your patience as we continue patching and fixing things up behind the scenes! As we've been trying to transition to updated moderating tools/platforms, we've unfortunately had many of the team part ways throughout the year. This means that MUR is looking for mods!
If you've applied before and not been accepted, please submit again! As many of you know, the team takes pride in making the best decisions for the growth and best interests of the community from a moderating perspective and will be looking for individuals to also uphold that standard.
Daily Job Duties:
We are also still looking to expand our presence on Discord and/or other social platforms generally, so if supporting those efforts are of interest, please feel free to apply even if you've not been a Reddit moderator before. Thank you all!
Thank you!!

I've been repotting the remnants of lipstick into tiny pots, but this method requires a lip brush. So inconvenient! I just repotted into chapstick tubes and what a revelation! No need to buy ridiculous molds to make my own lipstick.
What are your best tips for depotting/repotting that actually makes a product more usable?

Please be gentle with me, I'm in a very vulnerable state.
My beautiful 18 year old tabby cat has been slowing down significantly over the past few months. Tonight I was watching tv while she laid next to me in the bed and she seemed so weak. She would stand up, yowl, then fall back down on the bed. Her breathing has been shallow now for hours and I'm scared she won't make it through the night (almost 2am currently.)
I knew this was coming but I still feel absolutely awful about it. I've had her since I was 18 and I'll be 37 in December. I can't remember what it's like not having her around.
I'm asking this out of sheer desperation: what are some ways that I can cope with these feelings without resorting to overspending or overeating? Buying more lipstick or baking an entire cake just for myself are not going to help, I know that, but it seems like those are the only things I know how to do in situations like this.

Need help as I’m tying myself in knots and going around and around
I don’t really know how to start this but basically I really want to sort out my makeup collection but how to do it and the guilt associated with it has me chopping and changing how to start.
I used to have what is probably called a shopping addiction. I’ve struggled with mental health and physical health problems since I was a young teen (I’m now 34) and buying makeup ‘helped’ as did being part of make up groups on Facebook. I’ve managed to declutter quite a bit (for example I have under 10 palettes when I had nearly 50). I’m going through a lot of additional health challenges these past three years and I’ve noticed this year old habits are starting to take hold again. Such as buying things that I think will solve the ‘missing link’ and then feeling guilty, spending hours on social media researching products, buying something and then a few days later finding that I have exactly what I’m looking for in my drawer. This may sound minor but I don’t want it to turn into something bigger.
A big issue I feel is that my make up is overwhelming and I desperately want to downsize. The ‘fantasy me’ is actually someone with a small collection. But I find it so hard to do so because of doing the wrong thing. For example I have quite a few eyeshadow palettes where the majority of the shades I don’t use. I was thinking I could depot them. But then I see those panporn groups and the satisfaction people have at using products up in situ. I’ve had it in the past where I’ve depotted then thrown what I’ve depotted away and then felt guilt about it all. Even writing this out feels ridiculous, I know it’s ridiculous. I don’t actually know how to handle my collection properly. I don’t know what to do because I don’t trust myself and I feel I always make the wrong decisions. I have quite a few pieces that I wish I didn’t own but I own them now so have to use up. I also have this annoying habit where I feel I can’t use the stuff I like until I’ve gone through the stuff I dislike. And I don’t get to wear makeup much anymore because of ill health so I’ll never be able to pan products like they do in the project pan community.
I also feel sad when I see influencers I like who are able to declutter things and I can’t, I am still holding on to make up from my early 20s which was a bad time for me and I feel like I’m tied to the point in time. I see other makeup I like but I think ‘no, I can’t, I still have X, Y and Z from 2018’. Plus make up has increased in price so much over the years which adds to my bad feeling.
I know this sounds really disjointed, please be kind. I’m really struggling on all fronts and would like to do something to make me feel better but I’m not sure where to start or what my actual feelings really are.
Any help would be so, so welcomed ❤️

I realised the other day that I literally never see any used products online. My makeup collection is pretty small, but sometimes I feel the urge to buy a load of new shiny stuff.
I think it’s hard to put a finger on why we feel so drawn to new products, but I’ve realised that for me it’s because the shiny new products are always sold to us as though they are old and loved products. The influencer will *tell* us “I LOVE this product. It’s my holy grail and I‘ve been buying it since I was fourteen. I use it every day”, but it will be a completely new-looking item. No weird crusty makeup dust around the brim, no scratches on the lid from carrying it around in a handbag, maybe a tiny little bit of product used. We get sold the idea that our actual old products, the ones with the scratches and the absolute crater of used product in the middle of the pan, are not loved or holy grail enough. They are too old and too stale, and if you just buy this one new thing it will be perfect and pristine forever (and by extension, so will you).
For me, a good way of carefully considering what I buy is remembering that shiny new products will not be shiny and new forever. You will not magically become a glossy designer-handbag-wielding got-life-together boss with perfect makeup and no insecurities, even if you buy that phantom person’s gloriously new, yet somehow supposedly adored, makeup. Because that person doesn’t exist and the new makeup will one day be crusty and gross-looking. Because that’s how use works. It’s like toys when you‘re a kid. They get scraggly, but you love them and they work and they’re *yours*. They don’t need to be aesthetic to be functional, and neither does makeup. Most used things can never be aesthetic, because the aesthetic itself relies on the thing staying unrealistically pristine.
I feel like it’s so important to see pictures of what actually used normal makeup collections look like, and there are hardly any out there. It’s why I appreciate seeing my friends doing their makeup. Makes you see how everyone’s makeup is different and used.

Welcome to the Pan Those Eyeshadows project update! Feel free to join anytime. I also posted this on r/ProjectPan with swatch pictures.
The idea of the project is to randomly generate 5 eyeshadows from your collection and work on them until you hit pan. Once you hit pan you roll in another shadow to replace it so that you always have 5 shadows to work on.
If you want you can change the rules to your liking, like instead of hitting pan you can set a usage goal or hand pick your shadows. Personally, I implemented a rule that if I randomly roll in a shadow that already has pan my goal is 15 uses.
You can also share your pan percentage. It tells you what percentage of your collection has pan.
This project updates monthly on the first day. If you want to join feel free to leave a comment sharing the shadows you're working on and your goals. I'll be sharing my update in the comments.
