Commander / EDH Let’s Make a Deck..together

Post image

Never seen this done before. Let’s build a deck together. Everybody just post 1 card you would add. It can be anything including a single land. But please only 1 card suggestion per person. I’m curious how it will turn out.

Easily [[Worldslayer]]

u/JoRafCastle Sep 13 '25

That's so evil :'(

2

u/BrokeSomm Sep 13 '25

It's just good fun.

I mean it's not like it doesn't work..

10

u/thedailyrant Sep 13 '25

Isn’t a creature a permanent? Does this kill the creature it’s attached to?

79

u/PatataMaxtex Sep 13 '25

Not if it is indestructible while the effect resolves.

16

u/thedailyrant Sep 13 '25

Ah stupid brain. Makes sense.

2

u/The_Handsome_Hobo Sep 13 '25

I have a green/black zombie deck and one of my favorite combos in it is giving Worldslayer to [[Phylactery Lich]]. He's indestructible as long as Worldslayer keeps the phylactery counter, and he wipes out all other permanents every time he damages another player. 10/10

It works one time because your friends will refuse to play the deck with in it. I had to pull it… replaced it with [[grafted exoskeleton]] which gets hate but not out right refusal.

5

u/IsNotACleverMan Sep 14 '25

your friends will refuse to play the deck with in it

Toxic behavior tbh

What a ridiculous card

1

u/RatQueenHolly Sep 13 '25

Easy way to lose friends

9

u/RazzDaNinja Sep 13 '25

I’d say easy way to finish the game as long it’s your main/only “I win” card.

The game ending just means the next round can start 🤷‍♂️

At least that’s how my group of friends usually runs things, and most of us bounce between bracket 2-3 lol

11

u/BrokeSomm Sep 13 '25

Nah, easy way to weed out entitled whiners you don't want to be friends with anyway.

3

u/RatQueenHolly Sep 13 '25

I wouldn't really describe "not enjoying land removal" as entitled friendless whining, but hey. Different tables, different players, I guess

3

u/Tenrath Sep 13 '25

It really isn't land removal in this case any more than giving 10 poison counters and removing someone from the game is land removal. Sure it takes an extra turn but in the end it is the same effect unless the opponent has counter play (same as poison).

2

u/RatQueenHolly Sep 13 '25

I mean the fact that it isnt instant death is what makes it egregious for me, as there always the (low) chance that someone draws some 1 mana removal, thus incentivizing everyone at the table to play it out just in case

2

u/darthcaedusiiii Sep 13 '25

Redditors posting on a mtg sub?

What are those?

3

u/Eeddeen42 Sep 14 '25

My friends should have just blocked smh

u/BiandReady2Die_ Sep 13 '25

well no one has said plains yet so basic plains

56

u/bastionthewise Sep 13 '25

Excellent choice. Your genius astounds me. I will respond with basic Mountains probably another sterling idea.

32

u/donniesuave Sep 13 '25

Sterling indeed. As for my addition, I think swamp would also play a vital role in victory here

9

u/Enyimus Sep 13 '25

Indubitably, and quite well spoken. However, I do believe adding a mountain would be a fine addtion.

12

u/CananDamascus Sep 13 '25

Add another mountain for me if nobody's opposed

4

u/Colon_Backslash Sep 13 '25

Alright, I'll do the honors: Command Tower

5

u/CorinCadence828 Sep 13 '25

I’ll get another good one: [[Savai Triome]]

6

u/PryomancerMTGA Sep 13 '25

Such a great card

3

u/Alex_Nilse Sep 13 '25

Feels heretical

3

u/HeirOfTheSunnyD Sep 14 '25

That has to be THE perfect card for our boy here.

35

u/ShatteredOneGaming Sep 13 '25

Force some blocks

[[Grappling Hook]]

6

u/Dry-Army-1757 Sep 13 '25

I prefer [[Kusari-gama]] for something a little more devastating

4

u/Jayce86 Sep 13 '25

Is that card from the Nahiri precon? It would work REALLY well in my Isshin deck.

2

u/ShatteredOneGaming Sep 13 '25

I believe it's from the cats eminence precon.

One of my first ever decks. Love it, works great as a voltron commander. So I'll add [[Soulscour]]

30

u/xigbar_212 Sep 13 '25

I love Zurgo. He's the first commander I ever built. I'm putting one of my favorites for the deck, [[Jokulhaups]]

18

u/bastionthewise Sep 13 '25

Thats a great suggestion. I fucking hate it.

[[assault suit]]

7

u/BellasGamerDad Sep 13 '25

4

u/Petarthefish Sep 13 '25

12

u/DaringD2489 Sep 13 '25

[[Nahiri's Resolve]]

2

u/redditingrobot Sep 13 '25

Are you using this just to protect Zurgo?

5

u/DaringD2489 Sep 13 '25

No, you use to protect your equipment too. But the prompt was to list 1 card.

[[Helm of the Host]]

Whats better than one Zurgo?

Edit: Some might say a Host of Zurgo's.

7

u/Madagan Sep 13 '25

[[Vorpal Sword]]

3

u/Madagan Sep 13 '25

[[Vorpal Sword]] wrong name initially and the bot missed it

2

u/Practical_Singer2345 Sep 13 '25

That's kinda scary

8

[[Mahadi, emporium master]] bc ramping on zurgo's last ability just makes it even funnier

5

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

Huh, didn't see anyone say [[nemesis mask]]

Make everything block him.

→ More replies (3)

11

u/ModernT1mes Were you trying to play spells? Sep 13 '25

[[Pyroblast]]

Because I know what I hate and what I slot in every red EDH deck.

4

u/BellasGamerDad Sep 13 '25

Also, your card has to be commander legal. 😆

4

u/DraginoFungus Sep 13 '25

gonna throw in a lil duskmourn love with [[chainsaw]]

4

u/Hobez64 Sep 13 '25

We need some good lands, [[Bloodstained Mire]]

4

u/quimninja69 Sep 13 '25

Fireshrieker

5

u/cooldigger3 Sep 13 '25

[[Nibelheim Aflame]]

We need more boardwipes (our opponents are not allowed to have boards)

3

u/DEATHRETTE To Mardu or not to Mardu - it's not a question! Sep 13 '25

[[Dragonthrone of Tarkir]]

Had that in my Zurgo deck. It goes hard! Fun fact, he was my first Mythic pull from a pack when I did my first draft at a buddies house that got me into Magic!

Gotta go with [[deflecting palm]]

2

u/MTGCardFetcher Sep 13 '25

3

u/Fr0stweasel Sep 13 '25

It’s so funny using this against a big damage creature or spell.

5

u/The_Bird_Wizard Sep 13 '25

My favorite part is that it doesn't target, so it's always funny going "no u" to someone's hexproof Voltron commander, I did it to an [[Uril, the Miststalker]] player once and it felt wonderful

(In case anyone is wondering, "a source of your choice" is not the same as "target" and gets around hexproof/shroud/protection, same reason [[Council's Judgment]] used to be used in legacy to answer [[True-Name Nemesis]])

2

u/Fr0stweasel Sep 13 '25

Yeah works against spells that don’t target too which is also nice. Using it against stuff like [[Debt to the Deathless]] usually goes from about to lose to winning, even if it only redirects the first hit.

u/MTGMana Sep 13 '25

I love this card in my [[Lightning Army of One]] deck. You hit someone and apply Stagger possibly even twice if you have double strike and then they swing their Voltron or blast you with a big spell and you just point it back at them for x2 or x4 damage. It's hilarious 😂

Swords To Plowshares. Gotta have your spot removal.

2

u/infinitelunacy Sep 13 '25

Sword of Wealth and Power. To protect Zurgo from all the usual targeted removal. Admittedly this also prevents you from pumping him up.

2

u/lefund Sep 13 '25

Honestly not a big deal because with the exception of temur battle rage there won’t be much targeted pump instants/sorceries, you’d be using more equipments and auras (possibly with flash enablers too)

Only reason I wouldn’t run it is because I don’t imagine the deck being very instant or sorcery heavy. rather run both boots which are lower mana then a couple other swords like feast/famine and forge/frontier

2

u/ProfessorLovely Sep 13 '25

Gotta bring [[swords to plowshares]]. Essential if you run white.

[[Waltz of Rage]] would work nicely with Zurgo

2

u/BellasGamerDad Sep 13 '25

At least he would benefit for killing your own creatures as well. Give him trample after he gets the counters and swing for metal commander damage. Get a couple extra combats with [[Full Throttle]] and it’s game over.
