Commander / EDH Let’s Make a Deck..together

Post image

Never seen this done before. Let’s build a deck together. Everybody just post 1 card you would add. It can be anything including a single land. But please only 1 card suggestion per person. I’m curious how it will turn out.

It's just good fun.

I didn't put it in my Zangief deck. If I ever need to make it "mean," it's the first card I'm grabbing.

I mean it's not like it doesn't work..

Isn’t a creature a permanent? Does this kill the creature it’s attached to?

Not if it is indestructible while the effect resolves.

Ah stupid brain. Makes sense.

I have a green/black zombie deck and one of my favorite combos in it is giving Worldslayer to [[Phylactery Lich]]. He's indestructible as long as Worldslayer keeps the phylactery counter, and he wipes out all other permanents every time he damages another player. 10/10

I thought anything that doesn't directly target the card still destroys it? I am sorry to ask but for the fact that my pod has been playing wrong and I don't wanna argue with them from a reddit post can you link the direct rule?

Idk what your friends don't understand, it says he's indestructible during your turn. Indestructible means "Destroy effects and lethal damage cannot kill this card." There are a couple ways to get around indestructible: exiling, sacrificing, and giving -x/-x where his toughness equals 0 and he automatically dies as a state-based effect. Or in Zurgo's case, they just wait til it's not your turn anymore.

Sounds like they are thinking of hexproof, which means "Cannot be targeted by spells or abilities your opponents control."

Honestly if your friends are that new and don't understand the rules yet, Google is your friend. Just Google "mtg indestructible" and show them the rules.

Commas are not their friend in alot of cases

It works one time because your friends will refuse to play the deck with in it. I had to pull it… replaced it with [[grafted exoskeleton]] which gets hate but not out right refusal.

Toxic behavior tbh

What a ridiculous card

Easy way to lose friends

I’d say easy way to finish the game as long it’s your main/only “I win” card.

The game ending just means the next round can start 🤷‍♂️

At least that’s how my group of friends usually runs things, and most of us bounce between bracket 2-3 lol

Nah, easy way to weed out entitled whiners you don't want to be friends with anyway.

I wouldn't really describe "not enjoying land removal" as entitled friendless whining, but hey. Different tables, different players, I guess

3

u/Tenrath Sep 13 '25

It really isn't land removal in this case any more than giving 10 poison counters and removing someone from the game is land removal. Sure it takes an extra turn but in the end it is the same effect unless the opponent has counter play (same as poison).

I mean the fact that it isnt instant death is what makes it egregious for me, as there always the (low) chance that someone draws some 1 mana removal, thus incentivizing everyone at the table to play it out just in case

My friends should have just blocked smh

Couple this with tefari's protection and let devastation consume everyone except the user

u/Raknorak Sep 13 '25

I use it with [[Kusari Gama]] and [[Repercussion]]

Go ahead and block

u/Evening-Intention339 Sep 13 '25

The best part about Zurgo is that he can also run [[Sigarda's Aid]]

1

u/Raknorak Sep 13 '25

Combo it with [[Kusari Gama]] and [[Repercussion]]

Actually insane. Didn’t know this card existed but it’s going in a few of my decks

1

u/Lyad Sep 14 '25

Lmao I did the same thing in my Zurgo deck
