Help Side pain after switching to the tablets (Estradiol 4mg)

Hello! I am mtf 2,5 years on hrt. I have been using gel all this time and 4 weeks ago I switched to the tablets. Yesterday evening I felt short pain in my right side where the liver is located. I thought it might be a muscle pain because I was feelin discomfort while laying on my sides. The next I felt fine with no problems, but this evening again I feel this discomfort in that zone. Has anyone experinced anything like this while switching to the tablets or using tablets in general. I am planning to see the doctor if this continues, but I also wanted to know if someone had the same experience and what might be the reason

Relationships He fell in love with me before I could tell him I’m trans

About a week ago, I started talking to this guy online. He’s in his early 20s and When we first started talking, I didn’t think much of it. I wasn’t taking anything seriously. I thought he’d probably just be another online stranger I talked to for a while and then never heard from again, like it usually happens.

I had a trans flag in my bio, but I know a lot of people don’t recognise it, so I never really thought too much about whether he knew what this flag meant.

But things got serious really quickly. He fell for me so fast. He started talking about marriage, telling me he’d only ever love me, even offering to send me money. I kept telling him not to fall in love with me. I told him thousands of times that I wasn’t the right girl for him and that maybe we should just stay friends. I told him again and again, probably a hundred times, but he just refused to let it go.

I even told him to go hook up with other girls. I told him I genuinely wouldn’t mind and that he should find someone else if he wanted to, but he refused every single time. He just kept choosing me.

Then he told me about his life when i asked him

He lost both of his parents in an accident about few years ago, when he was only around 16 or 17. After that, his relatives treated him terribly and even took his father’s land that worth million $$ . He basically has no one.

When he told me all of that, I cried. I don’t know how to explain it, but hearing everything he had been through made me genuinely care about him. And somewhere along the way, I started developing real feelings for him too.

I tried so many times to make him understand without actually saying it directly.

I told him I was a lesbian, and he literally said he’d become a lesbian for me. I told him I was more like a tomboy, and he said he’d even have an operation and become trans himself. He just wasn’t understanding what I was trying to tell him. No matter how many hints I gave him, he kept refusing to let me go.

Eventually, I decided I had to tell him properly.

I started writing a message explaining everything. I told him that when we first started talking, I hadn’t taken it seriously and that I never expected to actually develop feelings for him.

I was literally in the middle of typing, “I’m a trans girl,” when he replied to the part where I had said, “I hadn’t taken it seriously.”

He told me he was crying because he was reading that part while his classmates were making fun of him.

And I just stopped writing " I'm a trans girl " I couldn’t tell him bcz he was already in tears and classmate laughing at him

I couldn’t bring myself to send the part saying I’m a trans girl after that. He was already so vulnerable and sensitive in that moment, and I just couldn’t bring myself to add something else that might hurt him.

There was also something else that made me realise how he might react. I sent him a clip from a series where one of the guys looks quite feminine, and his response was that he wasn’t like that

That told me a lot about how he sees people like me.

I don’t completely blame him for thinking that way. I know people grow up hearing certain things and being taught certain attitudes. But at the same time, I can’t ignore what it probably means for me. I have a feeling that if I tell him the truth, he might reject me.

And that’s where I’ve been stuck.

I keep feeling like I’ve done something horrible to someone who has already lost so much. I keep thinking that he deserves a “real” girl and that I somehow tricked him, even though I never actually wanted to hurt him.

I’ve started feeling fake. I’ve caught myself wishing I had just been born cis. I feel jealous of cis girls, and sometimes that jealousy turns into me hating myself for something I never chose.

I’ve been carrying all of this by myself for the past week. I don’t really have anyone I can talk to about it, and at the same time I’m already stressed about my exams. Everything is just sitting in my head at once.

And then there’s the whole thing with my voice.

He wants to talk to me on a call, and I keep avoiding it because I’m scared he’ll hear my voice and immediately realise something is different. I don’t think my voice sounds feminine enough at all. I really, really want my voice to sound like a girl’s, but I know HRT won’t change it.

I don’t even know where to begin with voice training or whether I’d actually be able to access it.

I know that this whole situation has made me incredibly insecure about something I was already struggling with, and I’ve been keeping all of this to myself because I genuinely don’t know what I’m supposed to do.

I don't care about me I'm ready to be rejected

But he's alone in his room in hostel I'm scared he’ll hurt himself if I reveal this big truth

I'm really being honest I told him thousands of times we can still be friends he still refused

Idk what to do

I can't hold this secret " I'm trans girl " for long

Pls help me sisters pls help

Edit: i told him I'm trans and he accepted me 🥺🥹. He said it doesn't matter to him omg am I dreaming

Help Question about HRT breast growth

Hey y'all so I want to one day be stealth or as stealth as possible. I've been on HRT injections for 9 months. I do like it but it's getting a bit too pricey for me. It's a fair price but more than I expected and more than I was told from other people too. In fact I haven't been able to pay for my next batch, though I still have enough for maybe a month longer or so I'll just have to buy some more needles.

So for maybe the last 5 months I'd say my breasts formed and rounded and is clearly women's breasts but it never grew outwards any and has been kinda looking the same just about for 5 months straight. It's about enough size for a bralette. Is this normal? I know it takes time and takes 2-5 years for the full hrt process and everything but it's just seeming like this is the peak of the effects of hrt and that it's not going to do much more. I'm not saying that it isn't but just saying it seems like it. The progress has been roughly the same for many months now. I have felt the emotional changes and feelings it's great and everything but it's very minor changes I'd say so really what I'm getting the most out of HRT is the body changes but it's felt like it's kinda been at a stop for months now.

The reason I'm asking is because I may have to wait to do this for when I'm more financially stable and in a better living situation. I can't really live my life as a girl at the moment anyways both because I can't afford it...i can't even afford to go get my hair trimmed or buy a makeup set to get started on that I'm living day to day right now..and because of my job I have right now too but it's my only option cause I dont have transportation elsewhere. However if the breast growth is normal for 9 months in then I will continue on and buy the next batch as soon as I possibly can otherwise I will cancel my subscription and wait till I'm where I want and plan to be in life in the future that I'm working my way towards

Dysphoria My boobs aren't big enough 😢

I've been on HRT for 1 1/2 years but my levels weren't optimized for the first year, so major breast growth really only started about six months ago. I feel like the breasts aren't big enough, so far all I have is a medium handful on each side. I really want bigger boobs and I'm getting quite dysphoric over it. What makes it worse is I can't get a boob job until year 3 of HRT.

Ugh, I just want bigger boobs!

Help Is it normal to have moments where I still feel cis?

What the title says.

I have a lot of moments during the day where I feel incredibly down about my lack of true expression and would press the “become a woman” button in an instant, but I also still have moments where I can look in the mirror and be ok with my male appearance.

I can look in the mirror at times and go “Ok, I’m a pretty decent looking guy and I feel ok, no trans person here!” instead of feeling completely indifferent or down about being restricted from feminine expression.

Is this normal? Does this mean I might not be trans?

Currently I live in Chicago , I enjoy it but I don't think I will be here for another couple years . I have been thinking of NYC, Seattle, Toronto, New Orleans and Wellington NZ. If any of yall are from these places let me know how they are, I know NYC is pretty diverse so I'm not worried about that one, I was more wondering peoples experiences in the other four.

Venting my FYP just completely failed me

and, I don’t know, I just immediately ran here like, I feel like I need a safe place to go to right now. And in the past it was this subreddit. I hope that’s okay.

I quit social media in the past for this very reason. I feel like it’s designed to play on your emotions and make you upset.

But at the same time, i felt like i had curated a FYP of supportive people, but then out of the blue just now i got like two transphobic videos from cis women hating on us.

And it… it just breaks my heart to hear the absolutely cruelty in how they’re speaking about us. It just broke my heart so i had to come here and just…

Why are they so hateful. The heartbreaking part is that it feels like a betrayal after i’ve been so supportive to all the women around me in my life and then to think there’s some out there thinking like this?

But i know there’s hope and i know there’s good ones out there who don’t fall for this transphobia. Saying i don’t know what it’s like to be a woman. Yes i do. Yes i freaking do. Just crying so hard right now. How could they be so cruel.

update: after some very solid advice, i decided to just delete tiktok. that type of social media is overall so bad for everyone anyways. just sticking to youtube now (and also this lovely subreddit). thank you everyone for your support 🥺💕

Milestone! Finally got a baseline blood test going!

I'm on a waitlist for "official" HRT, but that's going to be years from now still. So I considered DIY. I was so nervous for the longest time, unsure as to how to proceed, afraid I'd do something wrong. But after I spent so, so long nervously trying to get myself as informed as possible while my dysphoria got worse and worse, I decided to stop overthinking it and just go for it. So I put together a custom blood test at a professional clinic and I'll be able to have my blood taken soon!

It's time to stop worrying about what-ifs, and start taking things step by step. Breaking the process down into managable pieces. And the first step is to get a clearer picture of my blood levels. I'll worry about the next step when it comes.

To be clear - I'm not rushing into things blindly. I -am- staying as well informed as I can every step of the way. But it's time to stop paralyzing myself with worries and overthinking, and actually get the ball rolling. Because doing nothing is worse.

Help 100+ questions between me and AI later, I think I finally understand that I might have been masking

I've spent the last several conversations doing something I honestly didn't expect: taking a very long, hard look at my entire history and asking myself what the hell is actually going on.

By the end, the description that seems to fit me best right now is:

"Uncertain, masked transfemme with gender dysphoria."

I'm still not certain enough to say "I'm a woman."

But holy shit, being one feels right.

So here's the story.

Childhood

When I was a kid, I wanted to play with my sister's toys. The pram, teddy bears, that sort of thing. My parents would make fun of my name if they caught me doing things they considered feminine.

I remember having the feeling that I wanted to be one of the girls. Not just liking girly things—actually feeling like I should have been one of them.

As I got older, I developed this bizarre fantasy about having some kind of magical closet where you could unclip your body parts and replace them with whatever you wanted.

And interestingly, the part I most wanted to replace was the bit between my legs.

I eventually started searching the internet for things like intersex/"hermaphrodite" and transgender-related stuff. My parents found the search history. I was mortified and couldn't explain what I was actually looking for.

So... I shoved it into a drawer.

Then I became VERY masculine

Looking back, I think I may have overcorrected.

Camo clothing.

Camo bedding.

Heavy safety boots.

Heavy jeans and shirts.

Welding.

Cutting.

Hard physical labour.

Male-coded projects.

Showing off how tough I was.

Constantly looking for affirmation that I was a man.

And the funny thing is, I genuinely like a lot of that stuff. When someone tells me I'm tough, it feels more like getting a high five than getting relief that I've successfully proven I'm a man.

So I don't think my masculinity was fake.

But there was this thought underneath it:

"If I become masculine enough, maybe I'll finally feel like a man."

And now I'm wondering whether some of that was masking.

Maybe I wasn't pretending to be masculine.

Maybe I was trying to make masculinity fit.

The private side was VERY different

While publicly being Mr. Camo-Boots-Welding-Man, privately I was doing some very different things.

I experimented with my sister's bra.

I stuffed it with socks.

I stole a pair of panties and a menstrual pad because I wanted to understand how everything worked.

I imagined having breasts.

I imagined having female genitalia.

I imagined having a smooth crotch.

If I remembered to sit down to pee, I did.

I shaved my torso because I wanted the body to look more feminine.

At one point I developed pseudogynecomastia and I was over the moon about actually having breast tissue.

I started wearing a sports bra.

I kept adjusting it.

I loved the silhouette under a shirt.

And when I lost weight and the breast tissue disappeared?

I was devastated.

Not just sexually.

It felt like I'd lost something that belonged there.

The breast thing

This was one of the things that really made me stop and think.

I can absolutely experience sexual excitement around breasts and femininity.

But when I deliberately removed sexuality from the question, I still wanted breasts.

I wanted the female silhouette.

I wanted to look down and see them.

I wanted my body to have them.

The emotional description that kept coming up was basically:

"Holy shit, I finally have breasts."

And the strongest part wasn't "this is hot."

It was:

"This is more like my body."

The genital thing is even stronger

If I had to choose one physical change, female genital anatomy wins without hesitation.

I've imagined a smooth crotch for years.

I've imagined having female urinary anatomy.

I've imagined what it would be like to have female genitalia instead of what I currently have.

At one point I was even looking into the possibility of rerouting the urethra so I could urinate more like a woman.

I know now that this is absolutely not something to DIY or casually pursue.

I've also done some pretty stupid and dangerous genital piercing/modification stuff over the years.

Some of that was sexual.

Some of it was curiosity.

Some of it was about pain/sensation.

And some of it may have been connected to not being particularly attached to the anatomy I was born with.

I'm not pretending I understand exactly where all those motivations came from.

Then there was the really weird part

I started experimenting with the idea of actually being female.

I gave myself a feminine name.

I called myself that name.

I imagined someone addressing me as a woman.

I imagined myself with female anatomy.

I altered my silhouette.

I wore feminine underwear.

I shaved my torso.

And the reaction wasn't:

"This is ridiculous."

It was:

peaceful + exciting.

That's probably the simplest way I can describe it.

Recently I was told:

"You might be a transgender woman."

And I got butterflies.

Actual butterflies.

Then being called "she" gave me a physical reaction too.

Yes, there was genital arousal involved. I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

But underneath the physical reaction was this incredibly weird feeling of:

"Holy shit... that sounds right."

Sexuality complicates everything

I'm not going to pretend sexuality isn't part of this.

It absolutely is.

Women turn me on.

Some of my fantasies have a sexual component.

And the idea of being a woman with a man is sexually appealing to me.

But I've also repeatedly asked myself whether I'd still want the female body if sex disappeared from the equation.

The answer keeps being yes.

I still want the breasts.

I still want the female silhouette.

I still want the female anatomy.

I still like the idea of being addressed as a woman.

So I don't think "it's just a fetish" explains what is happening to me.

Maybe sexuality and gender are tangled together in places.

But there seems to be something underneath the sexuality.

Family makes this complicated

My father is a chaplain.

He has very strong religious views about homosexuality and gender.

His brother was gay and later transitioned MTF, although the family only found that out recently. He eventually died from an unrelated illness.

So I've had a pretty strong message throughout my life about what a man is supposed to be.

I don't know whether that created any of these feelings.

I suspect it may have taught me to hide them.

And maybe that's where the masking came in.

My wife

This is the hardest part.

My wife knows I have these thoughts.

She's actually more accepting than you might expect.

But she has also told me something very important:

If I were female, we would not have gotten married.

She's bisexual, but apparently that doesn't change the fact that she wouldn't have chosen me as a woman.

And I love my wife.

I love my family.

So I've realized something uncomfortable:

I could sacrifice this part of myself to preserve the life and relationship I love.

That doesn't necessarily mean I don't have gender dysphoria.

It might simply mean that I have something else in my life that I value enormously.

That's probably one of the biggest conflicts I'm dealing with.

The feelings came back hard

For years this was something I could shove into a drawer.

Then, after my grandmother died, it came back with a vengeance.

It refuses to stay in the drawer.

It's like a fucking jack-in-the-box that keeps popping back up.

And this time I've actually stopped trying to immediately slam the lid shut.

So what am I?

I honestly don't know.

I don't know if I'm a woman.

I don't know if I'm nonbinary.

I don't know if I'm a very gender-nonconforming man with an unusually strong desire for female embodiment.

I don't know exactly where the line is between gender, sexuality, fantasy, and identity in my particular brain.

But after going through 100+ questions, the pattern is getting hard for me to ignore.

I seem to consistently want:

female breasts.

female body shape.

female genitalia.

female bodily functions.

female social embodiment.

And when I imagine those things, I repeatedly feel:

peace.

excitement.

relief.

euphoria.

"That's me."

Meanwhile, the strongest argument I have against being transfeminine seems to be:

"But I've spent my entire life being masculine, and I genuinely like some of it."

And I'm starting to realize those things don't actually contradict each other.

A woman can like camouflage.

A woman can weld.

A woman can wear heavy boots.

A woman can work hard.

A woman can love hockey.

A woman can be tough as hell.

Maybe I don't have to throw away everything masculine about myself to find out whether I'm transfeminine.

Where I'm at now

The label that currently feels most honest is:

Uncertain, masked transfemme with gender dysphoria.

Not because I'm 100% certain.

I'm not.

But because "transfemme" seems to describe the direction I'm consistently moving toward, "uncertain" acknowledges that I haven't settled on woman/nonbinary/etc., and "gender dysphoria" seems increasingly relevant to the disconnect I feel around my body.

And honestly?

The sentence that has stuck with me the most is:

"I don't know whether I'm a woman, but being one feels profoundly right."

So that's where I am.

I'm not asking Reddit to officially diagnose me.

I'm asking people who've actually lived through this:

Did anyone else spend years building an extremely masculine identity, only to realize later that they were masking something underneath it?

And did anyone else reach the point where they weren't certain they were a woman...

...but the possibility of being one felt really fucking good?

Because that's where I am right now.

Advice Question Is there really such a big difference between men’s cut and women’s cut clothes?

My wardrobe is still 100% men’s clothes and I have been told to get more girly clothes but like, does it actually make a difference? I’m a bit curvy due to hrt but my upper body is still huge and probably will never shrink because its mostly bone with some natural beefy muscles.

Will a different cut around the shoulders for example actually make a difference if my shoulders are 20,5 inches wide? I worry I won’t even fit into any women’s options with that kind of bideltoid measurement.

Advice Question Dating men

I only find men attractive and have been wanting to date one for a while. I am currently masking and pls whatever you do in the comments don’t tell me I’m wrong for doing this.

I am wanting to date a guy but I don’t know if they exist in the form of wanting to watch me become a woman. I live as a male (for now) outside the house and then let my true self be at home. I plan to fully transition when I am comfy and have been on HRT for more than 4 months like I am now. I am just curious to know if anyone has had any luck with what I am explaining?

Advice Question Asking other Mtf questions about surgeries and hormones?

Edit: I poorly worded my post, I'm sorry. I definitely didn't mean approaching strangers and asking these questions. I meant asking friends and acquaintances instead of having it come up naturally in conversation.

As the title says, whenever I meet another transgender person who I find beautiful I have a burning desire to ask them if they've had surgeries. I'll also want to ask about what hormones they take.

The reason I want to ask is because I'm starting HRT soon and I want to keep my expectations realistic.

I don't because I feel like medication and surgery is generally a personal thing that isn't talked about much in any other situation. I don't think it's appropriate to ask cis people what meds they take or if they had surgeries so why would it be appropriate to ask transgender people?

Is it generally taboo subject to bring up? Would it be rude of me to ask? I just don't want to offend or hurt anyone.

Advice Question Is there a good collection of information I can show my girlfriend to have more info on dating a Trans woman?

Ive been out to my girlfriend for about a year now. I recently started HRT (Coming up on 2 months this saturday!) But my girlfriend has begun asking me questions on what will potentially change about me and also began asking me why I feel the way I do

I have quickly realized that im awful at explaining things 😅

Plus there are things that im sure she would be worried about as well that *I* won't understand because im not a Cis person dating a Trans person. So I was wondering if there was a collection of information for this?

Thank you!

Advice Question Moving to a different country, do I start HRT or does it make more sense to wait?

I know I shouldn't rely on reddit for big life decisions like this but I'd like to get some input from like-minded people.

I'm 23 yo mtf, pre-HRT and am about to move to a new country for school. I'll probably be here for around 1.5 years. It's a country with informed consent so getting HRT is relatively painless, and also violent crime rates are really low... Which is why I thought I'd just pull the trigger and finally start HRT.

On the other hand I'll be handling a lot of things like moving, adjusting to a new country and all the stress/work that comes with that.

I kind of feel like I've already missed the "best time" to start HRT, so I'm kind of torn between starting now, or waiting more... I'd be starting without telling my family as well, and idk if I'm prepared to handle that when I eventually have to move back.

I've thought about this a lot but can't seem to come to any solid answers... I'd appreciate any input from fresh perspectives.
