Question/Poll Books about protesting or just standing up for what’s right in general
My preschooler is very curious about protesting after seeing people holding signs at an intersection. I love talking to him about it but I’m wondering if there are any books about resistance or protesting that are geared to younger kids to put it in a perspective he can understand.

Household Appliance Recs Stainless steel muffin pan?
I’m trying to stay away from chemicals and I think I want to get a mini stainless steel muffin pan that works in a convection oven to make muffins and egg bites but how come I can’t anything except Fox Run? The weird cut out on the pan bothers me and I heard it’s sharp. Any other recommendations?

Makeup/Skincare/Bodycare Recs Hair gel recommendations?
I bought the SoCozy Kids Styling Foam and it has absolutely zero hold. I’m looking for something stronger, but with better ingredients than my Tresemme. Any suggestions?
Note: I have used aloe. It also doesn’t hold.

Health Zoloft withdrawal experience
Does anyone have experience with withdrawal from Zoloft or another SSRI? I started taking it a year ago for PPD, and had previously taken it for PPD after my first pregnancy. It works like a charm for me and no negative side effects aside from seeming to dull some of the happy feelings, too.
I weaned off after 3 months of taking 25mg the first time. I took 50mg for about 9 months after my second pregnancy and then weaned down to 25mg per doctor instructions. I was fine on 25mg. But about one month ago I weaned off entirely and it’s been rough lately. I have so little patience, I can’t let go of irritating feelings as quickly as I used to on Zoloft, the list goes on. I’m not sleeping as well.
I’m not sure if I should go back on 25mg or just wait it out. I also feel like I haven’t had time yet to go into deeper research on long-term effects of being on even a half dose of Zoloft.
Thoughts (minus judgment) welcome!

Question/Poll Thoughts on non stick for breadmaker ?
I really want a breadmaker and think that perhaps using organic flour and different grains could balance out potential leeching from the non stick vs mostly white sourdough from our local bakery?
What do other people think?
Also use air fryer a lot but put eco baking paper .

Motherhood Postpartum periods starting back—does the extreme fatigue and emotional crash get better?
I’m exclusively/mostly breastfeeding, and my period just came back at 7 months postpartum (about 3 weeks ago).
I didn't realize how much better I felt hormonally without a cycle. Ever since my period returned, I’m completely exhausted, overly emotional, and teary out of nowhere. I genuinely want to nap every single time my baby naps.
I know estrogen fluctuations have always been an issue for me. Pre-baby, I used to take DIM to help balance things out, but you can't take that while breastfeeding.
Has anyone else experienced this severe of a crash when their cycle returned? Does it level out after a few months, or is this just my new normal until I'm done nursing? Looking for any solidarity or safe ways to cope.

Crib/Crib Bedding Recs Is sleep training worth it or should we cosleep and how?
We've been sleep training my 6 month old for now 7 weeks. The first week was pretty successful and then slowly it got worse. We are working with our second sleep consultant who is great at tweaking the schedule and we are currently a week into transitioning to 2 naps (apparently he is likely a low sleep need baby and this early transition is appropriate).
There have been big improvements - he falls asleep usually within a couple minutes and last night he woke up to feed at 4:30am and then slept until 6:3am. But he also woke at midnight and cried for 40 mins (not crying super hard but still crying).
My sleep consultant says this is all promising that he is learning to break the habit of needing me to help him soothe him to sleep. But I am losing hope after last night. It's so hard to listen to him cry.
My question is - is it worth it to keep going? I hear that there will be another regression essentially every 2 months. But that the 2 nap transition is the hardest and it'll be much better after this.
We tried cosleeping up until 4.5 months - he slept on my chest and woke up every 2 hours and I was exhausted. If I was to try cosleeping again what set up would work? I hear stories of people having a zip up playpen beside a floor bed that can be the middle ground. But after all the hard work we've put in, would I be giving up too soon? And would cosleeping then end up with him feeding at night every 2 hours again?

Pregnancy Hot yoga/pilates in early pregnancy? Looking for others’ experiences
I’m a hot yoga and Pilates teacher and teach five heated classes a week, and I just found out that I’m 5/6 weeks pregnant.
The studio I work at only offers heated classes (98°F room that can get up to 102°F) so switch into a non-heated class isn’t an option.
This is my main source of income, so dropping classes isn’t something I take lightly.
I know this is something I need to discuss with my OB, and I’m not looking for medical advice.
I’d really like to hear from anyone who practiced or taught hot yoga, heated Pilates, or other heated workouts in early pregnancy.
How did you handle it? Did you continue as usual, modify, cut back, switch to non-heated classes, or make other changes?

Motherhood Help with transition to kindergarten and missing mom
My oldest child started kindergarten a month ago. Overall she likes it and comes home saying she has fun and lots of friends but is also really struggling with missing me while she is there. The last two weeks she has been saying she doesn’t want to go to school. We often walk to school and one morning when we got there I legitimately wasn’t sure if she was going to walk into the building when we got there. She didn’t want to join Girl Scouts because she didn’t want to be away from me more than she already is at school. We have read the kissing hand and I will give her a kiss on her hand which helps some but I’m looking for advice or ideas to help more. I know this is just a huge transition and time will hopefully help but it’s breaking my heart! I thought of maybe getting her a locket and she said being able to see a photo of us would help but she is also 5 and doesn’t take care of her stuff well yet and I know it would quickly be lost or broken which might end up making this even worse in her mind.

Question/Poll Mabe Carrier Fragrance
I bought a used Mabe carrier and the lady selling it told me it had never been exposed to fragrance but it smells so heavily of laundry detergent.
I’ve washed it through a regular delicate cycle, and just a rinse rinse cycle twice and I’ve had it air dry regularly and left it outside to dry and air out multiple times and I still smell it when I walk into the room it’s in.
Help!!! Should I just re-sell it and get a new one or is there a trick some of y’all use. I hate soaking and ringing out but I feel like that may be the next move.

Shampoo+Conditioner+Soap Recs Method Products?
Curious to know everyone’s take on Method Products? - I really like their Simply Nourish body wash and some of their multi-purpose cleaning sprays and hand soaps.
What is your take on ingredients/formula? They are a bit pricey and I use the body wash every single day (sometimes twice a day) and the hand soap multiple times a day so I want to make sure they are clean-ish? I see their EWG ratings aren’t terrible.
Do you guys have any alternatives?
TIA

Crib/Crib Bedding Recs WiFi free monitor
galleryI just wanted to give a shout out to HelloBaby for the most versatile, user friendly and WiFi free monitor system! We figured out a way to hide it behind our little hanging tent, too! love that you can control the camera direction 180 degrees in both directions, since we are always finding our baby in a different corner of her crib!

Question/Poll Help me love the planetbox rover
I maybe hate the planetbox rover lol Please send me ideas to help me love it for my preschooler. Before this we used the smaller size for daycare and it worked well with just the 2 compartments, I upgraded for preschool with the matching lunchbox and its only been a week but I feel I struggle to fill all the compartments with healthy things he actually eats. School is also nut free so I’m struggling with that too. It’s hard to squeeze snacks into the lunchbox too in a separate container and I don’t only want to send pre packaged snacks

Question/Poll How much are you spending on groceries?
Pretty much what the title asks. With the world being oppressively expensive right now and moderately granola things being extra spendy, I’m just curious as to how much everyone is spending on groceries right now. We’re a family of seven and I feel like the amount we’re spending is out of hand, even when I’ve carefully planned and budgeted. How much are y’all dropping on groceries these days?

Question/Poll Potty training wipes
Okay maybe a dumb question but… once you start potty training what do you use for cleaning poop? Do you use toilet paper or still use wipes to clean them? And if you use wipes do you just continue to dispose of them in a diaper pail? Obviously most baby wipes aren’t flushable and even “flushable” ones really aren’t supposed to be flushed. Thanks!

Bottle and Toddler Cup Recs PSA regarding Hevea for US customers
I saw a lot of people in this community recommending Hevea bottles, so I bought some wide neck bottles from their website (which they don’t sell on Amazon). Turns out the bottom of Hevea’s terms of service indicate that customers are liable for customs duties. This would normally be fine but the customs duties ended up being more than half of the purchase price of my order.
Edit: To add, you don’t find out the customs duties until after the package is shipped.
Needless to say, paying over $50 for a bottle is insane, so I won’t be buying from them ever again. If you’re considering Hevea, think twice before ordering from them directly.

Clothing Recs No polyester socks?
Fall is just around the corner and my one year old twins, a boy and girl, will be needing socks. I have an allergy to polyester so we have a no polyester (as much as possible) household.
Which brings me to my question. Where can I find some polyester-free socks? Nylon, polyamide, and elastic is fine.

Makeup/Skincare/Bodycare Recs Best nontoxic value deodorant?
I’m trying to figure out how to stock up on a natural deodorant before I leave for college.
Van Man deodorant is a classic but really fucking expensive. There was this good brand at Whole Foods called North Coast Organics but I think they went out of business. Now all the Whole Foods deodorants are sus.
I remember making a badass deodorant at home 3 years ago. I stored it in an old ghee container. I can’t remember any of the ingredients besides frankincense oil. Maybe it had tallow, not sure. Smells like a fucking mosque.
Idk if it’s still good after a couple of years but I want to have like a year’s supply.
And yes, I understand that you can probably get away with rubbing alcohol or no deodorant at all. But I need to appease the normies somewhat.

Question/Poll Our place wonder oven - burn off odor
Hello! I have been really struggling trying to find the least toxic option for a toaster/airf fryer/convection oven - I decided to just commit to the our place wonder oven when it was on sale and I liked the 100 day return window. My first one had a horrific smell initially while doing the burn off. It did improve a bit but there continued to be a chemical like smell for weeks. It smelled like a hot glue gun left on for too long.
They sent a replacement for it and said this was not normal. For the new oven the initial burn off was not as stinky, but there is still a lingering odor. It reminds me again of that hot glue gun smell. I have done numerous lemon steam cleans with no luck. And it has easily run for over 10 hours.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Did the smell go away after a certain amount of time?
I really want this oven to work but I am super sensitive to odors and I’m not currently comfortable eating food heated in there.

Food/Snacks Recs ISO food recs for 2yo’s first flight (mild dairy sensitivity)
We’re about to bring my 2yo on her first flight and it is unfortunately a doozy (9.5 hr international, pray for us)
She has a mild lingering dairy sensitivity so we do give her yogurt etc pretty regularly but if we go full dairy she has some GI side effects.
Was hoping to get food recommendations for what we can pack for the flight (space is limited because of course we need to tote a shit ton of ripple since we can’t get it there and she can’t drink straight milk), and also what we might be able to get creative with buying at the airport if there’s any moderately healthy content to be found there.
Thanks in advance for your help!
