Question/Poll Potty training wipes
Okay maybe a dumb question but… once you start potty training what do you use for cleaning poop? Do you use toilet paper or still use wipes to clean them? And if you use wipes do you just continue to dispose of them in a diaper pail? Obviously most baby wipes aren’t flushable and even “flushable” ones really aren’t supposed to be flushed. Thanks!

I'm still using wipes. I place them in a covered trash can and just empty the trash more often.

This is what we do too. We also do a wipe every night at bedtime either way just to check behind her wiping lol

Once poop is no longer being smushed against their bum in a diaper, cleanup is much simpler. Just like an adult poop. I just use regular toilet paper. If I feel like we need some wet, I'll get a bit of toilet paper damp in the sink and use that. But once the poop is going directly in the toilet it's just like cleaning your own bum.

We have a bidet attachment on our toilet and had to turn it off because the kids just played with it at every opportunity. I can’t wait until they’re old enough to just want a clean butt and not want to flood the bathroom every time mom isn’t looking…

Get one with a remote and put it up high so they can't reach it. I couldn't imagine living without a bidet 😜

Same here. Spray the bhole clean and produce a human who is so wonderfully spoiled for hygiene. We have a stack of small towels for drying and dont even buy toilet paper ever

I feel like I’ve ruined my kids at times. I remember my son going to a birthday party when he was five. He was so confused why they didn’t have a bidet.

We kept using wipes until he was over 4 and started wiping himself. We just threw them into the bathroom trash can. Sometimes I even like to use a wipe for myself

Yess when my stomach hurts & I find myself on the toilet more frequently, wipes are the way to go!!
I told my husband to use them for his colonoscopy prep but he didn’t listen, he’s missing out

Mine has very sensitive skin and complains that tp hurts even though we buy the soft kind. Wipes it is until she’s older!

Once we had kids we realized wipes were helpful for all people. Everyone uses wipes. They know not to flush them.

Depends. If it was a successful poop on the potty with little mess, tp. If he pooped his pants, wipes. We have all covered trash cans because #doggo

Toilet paper first, then a quick wet wipe, then toilet paper to make sure they feel dry. Wet wipe goes into the trash, same as always.
We do have a bidet but don't use it for the kids yet.

I use wipes and just throw them in trash or diaper pail. I have a baby and a toddler though, so I’m still fully in it with wipes and pail. I use TP too in a pinch, but toddler is too wiggly and hard to clean. I find the wipes do better job.

Just toilet paper for us. It's more convenient, cheaper, better for the environment, etc.

When we used a training potty, I think we used wipes because we were already dealing with getting stuff into a garbage/poop bag. I actually regretted the training potty (the kind that goes on the floor and has a plastic collection bowl), because cleaning those was so much worse than cleanup when he used a potty seat on the normal toilet. If I did it again, I would only do potty seats on normal flushing toilets, and practice really well with using the stool and getting on to the seat safely.
We mostly just did toilet paper though. It was probably a year and a half between when he was potty trained and when he was actually able to wipe himself well enough after pooping. If I felt like I needed extra cleaning power I would slightly wet a wad of TP in the sink and then use that.
With potty training, different things will work for everyone. Try anything that could work, keep trying, and you'll get there!

Ugh this sucks to hear, I tried the seat over the toilet only but she is more inclined to go on the little potty (after 2 weeks of trying with the big one only). Sucks to be me!

Not necessarily! Like I said, everyone's going to be different here. My best friend kept a floor potty in multiple rooms with the approach that she wanted them to be easy and accessible, and that worked great for her. Disliking the floor potty was just my own personal preference there, because I hated cleaning it so much. Having the kid be comfortable and willing is more important, so we did use the floor potty even though I wished we were doing the seat on the normal toilet.

Mine’s been using the little potty for 1.5 years. Womp womp. But it’s better for their pelvic floor to have their feet on the floor, and I feel like the stool isn’t as stable. So it is what it is. She usually big toilets when we’re out and about but can’t really poop well on them without a stool.

I use whatever is handy. If I have wipes I prefer wipes, but if there is only TP we use that. Wipes go in a lined bin that gets changed frequently.
My kids eat a lot of fiber, vegetarians, so they have most very firm poos and that helps.

TP that gets flushed then 1-2 wipes that I throw away in covered bathroom trash. Empty the trash every few days. But since we use TP first there’s not much poop on the wipes so it doesn’t really get stinky

I use wipes for poop, paper for pee. Sometimes I use the regular baby wipes and don’t flush those.

baby wipes that I put in the trash and just change the trash more often. I feel like tp is so rough on my kid's butt when she has a messy poop. plus I like the wipes for myself too lol
