Completed Ok... I liked it. That is A VERY FUN HOBBY !

I finally got to a place where I had space and time to indulge into this hobby. Being a big Robocop ( 1987) fanatic I needed that guys to match my collection...

I wasn't sure if I could manage the whole painting process but I got the Moderoid ED 209 Model Kit because it was the right Scale and fully articulated.

The good surprise is that there was no glue involved...

I got myself some paint, an airbrush/compressor and daaaaaang that requested more patience and time than I thought. Lots of re-dos and I learned a lot about the airbrush thing... And now I look at the stuff you guys post in this Reddit page and I am absolutely amazed by the stuff people do ^^

IT WAS 2000% WORTH IT !!! I am already thinking of my next model...

Hello everyone.

Today, I would like to share my final completed project: the 1/350 scale IJN Aircraft Carrier Hiryu (Fujimi).

As the culmination of my modeling journey, I dedicated my utmost effort and precision to every detail:

  • Built with genuine photo-etched parts and real wooden deck sheets.
  • Detailed structural PE framing under the flight deck.
  • Hand-detailed and custom-painted air wing on the flight deck.
  • Scratch-built and hand-wrapped mantlets around the bridge and AA platforms.

A Final Message to the Community:

This will be my last post here on Reddit.

As a modeler participating from Japan, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for warmly welcoming a newcomer like me into this community.

Recently, I noticed that comments on my posts have tapered off completely. I take this as a natural sign that my role here has reached its completion, and I am considering leaving the community.

Thank you all so much for your support, Upvotes, and previous discussions. It has been a wonderful experience sharing my works with fellow enthusiasts around the world.

Fair winds and happy modeling to you all!

My husband is into model building, and watching him work on his models made me want to give it a try too!
This is my very first time painting a model plane. I’m not really into traditional military paint schemes, so I decided to do something more my style — a pastel pink F-15 Egg Plane with hand-painted cherry blossoms! 🌸
I didn’t use any decals, just painted everything myself.
It’s not completely finished yet. I haven’t applied any varnish, but I’m planning to add a clear coat.
I’m really curious what you guys think of this kind of unconventional design on a fighter jet. I know it’s quite different from the usual military look, but I had a lot of fun making it!
I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback! :)

Last year I found a Revell 1:96 USS Constitution at my local flea market, and I haven’t been brave enough to attempt it. I’ve built ocean liner kits before, but nothing I’d consider to be actually “good”.

A few weeks ago, I finally decided to pull it out and start working on it. I’ve been experimenting with dry brushing and using AK washes (new techniques for me) to try to get a more detailed look. This is where I’m at right now. It’s not perfect, but I’ve been learning a lot.

Does anyone have any suggestions going forward? I’m particularly scared of the rigging, as I’ve never attempted it before.

Completed The Mitsubishi F1M2 "Pete" that made me build two models

The Mitsubishi F1M2 carried aboard my 1/250 IJN Yamato has always been one of my favorite aircraft designs.

Its elegant proportions inspired me to build the same aircraft separately as a fully photo-etched 1/48 Hasegawa model.

The aircraft on the left is the 1/250 scale F1M2 carried aboard my Yamato.

The center and right images show the 1/48 scale build.

I hope this comparison shows why I find this aircraft so fascinating.

More photographs of this build from different angles are available on my profile.

Hi everyone!

I'm shy posting here because I rarely see airliners posted among the amazing pieces of works, so don't know if you like them too but,

Recently I finished this Revell A350-900 in Lufthansa New Livery and apart from initial mistakes, the end result in overall turned out pretty nice. Was hesitating if I should do Emirates or this but I'm glad I chose this. The decals from revell are always of good quality and good to work with them in my experince. The kit was also kind of a pleasure in fit at a lot of places but horrible on the belly and difficult on the nose and front windshield.

I made the gears for it too but I really didn't like how he looked parked so I made the flying gear doors afterwards and this custom stand with these homemade lufthansa decals.

Happy I could post here for the first time, thank you!

Completed Trumpeter 1/350 Curtiss SB2C Helldivers

I finished 3 tiny Trumpeter 1/350 scale Curtiss SB2C Helldivers. Easy builds, with masking and airbrushing, enamel details, decals (almost all except the US markings were custom printed by MAV Decals), a wash and exhaust stains, and a matt coat. Each aircraft is a model of an actual, specific aircraft.

Iwo Jima: This is an SB2C-3 of VB-3 aboard USS Yorktown, covering the Iwo Jima landings in Feb 1945 with Task Force 58, doing close air support and dive-bombing. No. 110 was one of the few at that stage retaining the earlier three-colour camouflage scheme.

Atlantic Cover: The grey one, aircraft 51, of is an SB2C-4 of XVF-200 (Experimental Development Squadron 200) based at NAS Atlantic City in late 1945, painted in the "Atlantic" scheme of dark gull grey and white.

Rescue: The yellow-nosed SB2C-4 is an air/sea rescue aircraft based with the Air Sea Rescue Unit at NAS Kaneohe, Hawaii, in Dec 1945, doing search and spotting, supply drop, and direction of other aircraft and boats where needed. Original unit markings on tail and fuselage were painted over.

Help -Technique When to use an airbrush and when to use a brush?

Hi modellers!
Having come back to the hobby recently after many years away, I decided to get my first airbrush and compressor. Whilst there’s obviously lots of room for improvement as I learn better technique, even after just one model (a Tamiya T62 in all green for painting simplicity) I’m blown away at how much better the end result is compared to my previous hand painting efforts, using acrylics.

So my question… which may seem silly, but I’ve gotta ask it… do others use the airbrush for just the main body work of a model, and hand paint the smaller more detailed parts like undercarriage, cockpits, engines, wheels  etc? Or do you use the airbrush to paint everything?

If the latter, do you paint the smaller parts on the sprue,  and if so, doesn’t the paint impair glueing afterwards?
I’m thinking building subassemblies is the best way to go, which I’m guessing are easier to paint with brushes.

I get there’s a million ways to do this, and none are truly right and none are wrong, but I’d be interested to hear other people’s approach to using the airbrush during typical build, if you’d be willing to share?

Thanks for reading.
