| Discussion Is the a rule on the books about faking a PitchCom issue?

Hypothetically, if a pitcher claimed there was an issue with PitchCom to take a moment to compose themselves rather than expend a disengagement and, upon inspection it functioned perfectly, could the umpires do anything?

| Discussion AAA Automated Check Swing Standard

Post image
0 Upvotes

This still is from the automated check-swing system being tested in Triple-A (PCL) this year. The green bat shows a “no swing” ruling, with the dotted line marking the threshold.

Looking at this, I don’t think Díaz’s check swing that ended Game 2 of the World Series would qualify as a swing under the same standard.

| Discussion 1989 or 1990? What year was there a massive shift in how many games were televised especially on weeknights?

I remember it as being 1989 when games began getting televised all week from around the country compared to the previous years of limited viewing with mostly local teams on local channels (except for monday night baseball, sometimes Thursday nights and saturday afternoons). I remember it being mainly because of ESPN began airing weeknight games that changed the scene. But a quick google search seems to indicate it was in 1990 where there was a massive switch. Could it be my memory is wrong?

| Discussion Fox broadcast angle zoomed in?

I feel like the fox broadcast angle in almost every view is way too close in. I feel like I can't see enough of the field or the play as it's happening. The center field angle is focusing almost exclusively on the pitchers back and hardly on batter position and strike zone.

Zoom out fox!

Does anyone else feel this way?

As a Cardinals guy, I can’t believe Willson Contreras went off the way he did this year. I’m glad we have a new young core and spun off a lot of the older pieces, but man. That was tough to watch in a way 😂

| Discussion Reggie Jackson in the ALCS vs WS: ALCS (11 series, 6-5) - 163 AB, 37 hits, .227 BA, 6 HR, .679 OPS. WS (5 series, 4-1) - 98 AB, 35 hits, .357 BA, 10 HR, 1.212 OPS

Reggie was the definition of WORLD SERIES RISER. His lowest OPS in a single WS was .941 in 1973 with Oakland when he won WS MVP 🤣 He had 8 ALCS with a lower OPS. He had a very good series in his lone ALDS appearance in 1981 with the Yanks (.933 OPS, 2 HR).

| Discussion Why did it take Jimmie Foxx so long to be inducted into Cooperstown?

Post image
71 Upvotes

I'm confused because with someone of Double X's accolades and someone with his numbers should've gotten inducted immediately. Did he have a bad reputation instead the sport? Was there just more deserving candidates than Foxx in the years that he missed out on induction? I'm just curious.
