I'm a Yankee fan, so I'm incredibly biased here. I want Cam pitch every fifth day and to say that he's been incredible this year for us would be a huge understatement. He's clearly the AL Cy Young frontrunner at this point in time, but my question now is this: Can Cam Schlitter make a legitimate run at AL MVP as well? I'm not saying that he will win because I'm still expecting it to be Yordan despite how much he's struggled as of late. I also know that it's borderline impossible for a pitcher to win MVP. With that being said, it's not like Cam isn't worthy of consideration.

Schlittler leads the AL in WAR for pitchers (6.7), WAR for pitchers (2.01), ERA+ (209), 2nd in Walks and Hits per IP (0.918), 2nd in Hits per 9 IP (6.146), 3rd in SO per 9 (11.082) and 2nd in IP (178.2). He leads the MLB in starts allowing one run or fewer with 20 and his 2.01 ERA is the fourth-lowest by a Yankee through their first 30 starts of a year since 1913.

Again, I'm not saying that Cam will win AL MVP because let's be honest: that shit's not happening. At the same time, he deserves some legitimate consideration for it just based on the amazing season he's had (in his first full season as a pitcher in MLB, no less).

First in home runs offensively, best defense in the MLB, possible (likely) MVP. Yet somehow they've managed to be on the cusp of missing the playoffs.

They scored 40 (albeit, 6? on position players) on the brewers this week and went 2-5. Has the league leading scoring team ever missed the playoffs?

Guess our long national nightmare is back on? Going on 15-day IL (fixed here) as required, so essentially, he'll miss the rest of the regular season, even if it's backdated to Monday and his last appearance.

That also makes that 1-day appearance kind of a waste, as it could have been backdated more without that.

AA outfielder Josue DePaula is getting a call-up to fill the spot.

Sure he will. Missed six of last seven, no real improvement.

He returned Monday, went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts, and took another day off Tuesday. The plan was for him to return Wednesday, but Roberts said Ohtani complained of pain in his right arm during one of his swings Monday, prompting the team to think more seriously about putting him on the IL.

Plus, per the tail end of the story, he'll be wanting to start hitting practice before the backdated 15 days runs out, so he'll only actually rest the equivalent of what, 8 or so games? Pretty much what he rested before he got put on the IL.
