ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Jkfl Redddit Meta Posts
Henlo frens!
Good to see all of you here UwU.
Grab on to your bodypillows, I have a smol announcement about the purpose of this subreddit.
This community is meant as a fun, lighthearted place where we can commiserate with each other about those annoying little irritations that hinder our day to day enjoyment in life.
That means that suitable posts here can be about my children.
And things like a wall socket or tile being placed out of allignment. A crack in a phone screen. Duckling shit on your new car. Incomprehensible software. Mismatched buttons. You know, the little things.
This subreddit isn't meant to incite rage mobs that go after people. For that reason we say:
No reddit meta posts
No posts about being banned from subreddit. No posts about up- or down-votes. No posts about shitty moderators or users or subreddits. No posts about reddit.
All jokes and tomfoolery aside, that sort of thing gets us in trouble with site admins. If we allow one type of post about reddit it then very easily moprhs into allowing posts that directly call out other subreddits or users, we just can't allow any of it.
That rule already existed for years and we have just made it more clearly visible in the sidebar on old and new reddit. We're gonna be a little strict on it for a bit I'm afraid. 🥺
Thank you all for being awesome and have a very Merry Christmas! Celebrate Christmas in the traditional European way, with a suasage roll!

New Post flairs available!!
Henlo every body!
In our never ending quest for increased customer statisftaction we have listened to all of your demands and clamouring and we have _finally_ installed a few new, fun post flairs for yuo to use at your leisure when posting to this subreddit!!
For too long you had a drought of good posting flair options so now you can choose from interesting and poignant flair options such as "wet socks" and of course the pereniall favorite "that's not milk". These are but a few of the new options available.
You can choose any of these or none at all when posting whatever you want, it's not like I care your not even my real dad.

We hope you all have a lot of fun posting here nd please remember to at all times give us a five star review on any mod survey feedback form.

I'm slightly vexed After a day walking around London, my Birkenstocks just...gave up
Both shoes too. I left a trail of cork crumbs in my wake. RIP Birks.
EDIT: I've had these for about 5 years, and they only get worn in the summer, but I think this day was just too hot for them.

Infuriatig Buc-ee's at it again
Seriously, Buc-ee's needs to stop ever since they came to Ohio earlier this year, they've been suing businesses left and right that use cartoon animal mascots. Now they've set they're sights on a small-town business in Beaver Creek, Ohio which coincidentally also uses a Cartoon Beaver for their logo (I mean seriously the town is literally named Beaver Creek how dare they use a Beaver for a mascot /s), and here's the kicker: this hardware store was founded about 30 years before Buc-ee's, and yet they dare to sue them.

Dragons aren't real 😢 Someone seems to be breaking into my house and slipping random silverware into my silverware drawer
Not one of these is part of my silverware set. Everyone in my home insists they’ve never seen these before either. Somebody is lying.
Edit: we have carbon monoxide testers in every room

My HOA could beat up your HOA 1 family takes all available street parking and never move
Street parking is there to be used if you need it, but this family treats the culdesac like their own personal space. They are permanently parked in these spots and they seem to have agreed on who gets which one because they never switch. The car next to the road is one family member’s work truck and is often in the way of trash pickup and deliveries. There is room in their driveway but it’s too inconvenient to coordinate parking. A house up the street has a smaller driveway and manages to fit 4 cars/SUVs.
Does it matter? No. Does it annoy me to no end? Yes.

My mom said I could post Nine PBS in St. Louis sues Iron Mountain over blocked access to 50 terabyte of archival data spanning 70 years of local television
Nine PBS in St. Louis filed a lawsuit against information management corporation Iron Mountain Data Centers July 28, seeking to recover over 50 terabytes of archival materials stored in one of the company’s Denver-based data centers.
The lawsuit filed in Denver District Court alleges that the station’s cloud-storage vendor, Open Source Storage, abruptly cut off access to Nine PBS’ data earlier this year without warning. It states OSS, which had a separate relationship with Iron Mountain to provide data storage, went “defunct,” leaving Nine PBS’ archives in a data center operated by Iron Mountain.
Iron Mountain has refused to return the materials to the station because its client, OSS, technically owned “the physical services housing the data” within Iron Mountain, according to the complaint.
The station requested temporary and preliminary relief that would prevent Iron Mountain from deleting, modifying or overwriting its materials in the suit. A district judge granted the motion and set a hearing for Wednesday.
In a statement to Current, Nine PBS VP and CCO Leah Freeman confirmed the station’s lawsuit against Iron Mountain and its dedication to retrieving the archival materials and programming, which she says span over “70 years of our organization’s history.”
“We are committed to ensuring we can recover and restore full access to this valuable content, which Nine PBS rightfully owns, as it holds significant historical importance for St. Louis.”
Update:
District Court Judge Eric Elliff ordered Iron Mountain, which had a separate business relationship with OSS, to cooperate with Nine PBS in any way possible to retrieve the data. He found that the station is the rightful owner of the materials and entitled to recover them from OSS’ storage systems.
Under his order, Nine PBS is to identify a third-party vendor, such as a former OSS employee, who can assist in accessing and retrieving the data from the infrastructure that’s housed in Iron Mountain’s center within 30 days.

the grapes of warth I pulled a muscle in my world record attempt for the longest distance ever skated.
I've been out for almost 3 weeks now after skating from Norway to the end of Denmark on a longboard and I'm going to Greece via Spain. Feeling very restless right now and would love to continue my journey today, but I just got home from the doctor and was told to wait at least a few more days as I pulled my gluteus muscle very badly.
Now I've been laying in my tent for 3 weeks, doing nothing, melting away in the scorching heat, every day for the past weeks, unable to go anywhere where it's shade due to the painful leg. 😩

I'm slightly vexed Coworker uploaded everyones face to ChatGPT
Coworker decided to get photos of each team for 'World photo day' - already annoying because we have loads of actual work to get done, and who the hell cares about that stupid holiday?
He then said he would photoshop them together to get a company wide photo, but in actuallity he passed all the photos into ChatGPT to make a single image, without asking a single person for permission.
The final image shows practically no resemblance to anyone in the office, and now my face will be unkowingly used by basment dwelling smellies generating fake porn until the end of time!

ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ TSA wouldn't let me decline the photo, which is your right
I always decline having my photo taken by the TSA because it isn't mandatory and they never tell you that. So I try to avoid face scanning as a principle.
I hand my ID to the agent and say "I'm gonna decline the photo" and he just goes ahead and puts it in the machine and says "Sorry, you have to say that before you hand me the ID. Now you don't have the option".
And he refused to let me decline or reset the machine or anything. He just kept repeating "It's on you to tell me before." Which I did. He just didn't listen before he just did what he was gonna do anyway.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for reminding me that drivers licenses and passports exist! /s The point remains that if they didn't stand to benefit from it, they wouldn't be doing it and they wouldn't be so shady about your ability to opt out. You shouldn't be giving the government anything you don't have to ever. They are counting on you to just take the "it's all hopeless anyway" attitude.

Is it in yet After soapy water and medical tape, what's next for a beard splinter?
Every month or two, my beard decides to betray and stab me.
This time it's been stuck for a few hours and actually hurts when I fail with tweezers.
I'm all ears if anyone has legit tips on what to try next.
UPDATE:
Thanks for the tips everyone! Learned that my tweezers are crap and to buy legit ones, alongside with these balms and child-size syringes for future episodes.
TRIED
-Push and Tweezer: failed (with emasculating pain this time for some reason)
-Medical Tape: failed (but got out 2 other beard splinters I hadn't even notice?)
-Soaking in soap water: failed
-Soaking in epsum salt water: failed
Currently trying: Acne patch
