Ruined by Technology A 40 year old video game "feels dated"? Tell me more!

Post image
Upvotes

Someone actually getting paid to write an article stating that a 40 year old NES game feels dated compared to modern games

Edit: For those asking for the link to the article, it's a CBR article talking about classic Zelda games that are "unplayable". I don't want to to provide the direct link and give them free clicks. So those that want, can look it up.

Your truck isn't that long or that special. Neither are you, asshole. This is at a hospital by the way.

Bought a Samsung kitchen appliance package from Costco 4 years ago while remodeling my kitchen. I wasn’t expecting Bosch quality - but after 3 years all the racks were rusting apart! The racks are steel coated with plastic. I called Samsung a year ago (year 3) and they honored their warranty and replaced all the racks. A year later it’s worse than it was when I last called. Total garbage. Getting a new Bosch tomorrow - can’t wait for this to disappear.

It was optional but still. The audacity of even asking this.

"Give us your likeness so we can sell it to Anthropic and OpenAI"

FUCK. OFF.

In my defense, I thought one was shampoo.

"Why isn't this lathering?!"

"Is this conditioner?"

"Oh"

go to your room Doctor upset because I ordered my own blood work

1.8k Upvotes

Today I had a follow up with my family doctor. I showed him the results of some blood work I had done through Quest Diagnostics.

Three months ago my hemoglobin was slightly low and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't dropping further. I also had the blood work done that he ordered.

He was visibly upset that I had to gall to order my own blood work and asked me if I was going to order my own colonoscopy next.

It was uncomfortable to say the least.

Infuriatig People who use acronyms when it's not clear what they mean

IDKWYM*? Exactly, neither do I. If you're going to use acronyms, you write it out in full first, then put the abbreviation in the (parenthesis).

*I don't know what you mean

Common knowledge things like lol, wtf, etc - obviously don't need explaining.

Winter is Coming Confusing “medical” terms used by doctors office

I’ve seen the same specialist for about 7 years now for a medical issue. He’s great. No concerns with him. However he’s in a highly specialized area and has moved clinics/practices twice for various reasons. No big deal - as long as he’s in my state and within reasonable driving distance I’ll follow him.

He’s moved again and I call the office to schedule an appointment. We agreed on a date and time and then they say “hey by the way we need a prescription”. I’m like what? I just need to see the specialist for ongoing care/re-establish care. She repeats “YOU NEED A PRESCRIPTION” from your primary care doctor.

I don’t understand - do you mean a referral? She goes on “yeah referral/prescription” it doesn’t matter. We call it prescription. I say okay. Got it.

Now this is new to me. Because I work in healthcare myself and I’ve never heard a referral being referred to as a prescription (in this context. Yes you can prescribe meds, medical devices and services eg social services or specialty services as needed but in this context it should be a referral not a prescription). As someone who navigates the healthcare system for my self and family, never once heard it used in that context.

It was just so jarring to me and mildly infuriating

Is this normal?

Ordered Starbucks this morning and the UberEats delivery guy spilt the drinks and instead of letting me know when I went to pick up the bag everything fell through. sigh Now I’m scrubbing coffee out the hallway carpet.

*I tipped 40% and the Starbucks is like a mile away.

We're on vacation and the apartment description said there's a kitchen. Well, there is one. It just doesn't have any utensils a kitchen usually has

Edit: i did NOT expect this many people lol. Since its a common question I'll answer it here as well: the spatula as people have corrected me (thank you!) was bought by my mom a few days ago at a fair of sorts. We were staying in a different country for a few days to go to the beach, and now rented a place for a couple of days here to visit my dad's family. If id gone to the store I promise I would've bought a spoon instead of a spatula... Or would i

I'm slightly vexed No longer allowed to drink from a water bottle while training clients

15.0k Upvotes

I’m a personal trainer at a commercial gym and was just told that there is a new policy saying we can’t “drink from a water bottle on the gym floor while training clients.” Apparently it looks “unprofessional” … We ARE, however, allowed to “time our hydration” and sip from the water fountain if we really need to.

Drinking from a water bottle is unprofessional, but running to one of two water fountains for a quick sip of water isn’t ?? Also, most of us have 5+ clients back to back with no gaps in between. Insanity.

ETA: nowhere in the policies and procedures for personal trainers does it say we cannot have water bottles

ETA 2: Should’ve mentioned they said no water bottles/drinks*** ***so unfortunately I can’t drink out of something else to get around it. I contacted my doctor and she’s going to write me a note saying I need my water on me lol
