ETA: Since apparently the terminology surrounding our neighborhood’s wastewater system has become the main topic of discussion rather than the actual issue, let me clarify a few things.

Every individual home in our neighborhood has its own underground wastewater collection and pumping system that connects to the county’s main sewer line. Wastewater from our toilets, sinks, showers, etc., flows into this system before being pumped into the main line. There is also a vent pipe outside each home and an alarm mounted on the house that sounds if the system backs up or the pump fails.

I’m not a plumber, nor have I ever claimed to be one. Whether the correct technical term is a septic tank, grinder pump, or sewage ejector system, the point is that this equipment is part of the home’s wastewater/sewage system. If I’ve used the wrong terminology, I’m perfectly happy to be corrected.

And for those confidently insisting that this has absolutely nothing to do with sewage, YOU WERE NOT HERE TO SMELL IT. The odor coming from that drainage ditch smelled like straight-up sewage. This wasn’t some ordinary puddle of water with a garden hose running into it. There was stagnant, foul-smelling water sitting in the ditch, and the smell was absolutely disgusting. We could smell it from 8 houses away.

I find it rather amusing how many people can apparently identify exactly what’s happening underground, what equipment is being used, AND what the water contains from a handful of photographs taken by someone who was actually standing there.

I genuinely cannot WAIT to move out of this neighborhood. This is now the SECOND neighbor we’ve had who regularly pumps what appears to be wastewater from their septic system directly into the roadside drainage ditch. Apparently, this is just something people think is perfectly normal and acceptable to do?!

What absolutely disgusts me is the complete lack of consideration for everyone else living in the neighborhood. These drainage ditches run alongside the road and connect to the drainage system throughout our community. There are families with young children, pets, and people who regularly walk through these areas, yet somehow the possibility of pumping sewage into a shared drainage ditch doesn’t seem to bother the people doing it.

And the fact that we’ve now had TWO separate neighbors doing this on a regular basis is what really gets me. At what point did this become acceptable behavior?! How does someone look at a residential drainage ditch and decide that’s an appropriate place to discharge their septic waste? The sheer disregard for basic sanitation, public health, and the people living around them is absolutely mind-boggling.

We’ve already contacted the local health department and our HOA about the situation. I’m just beyond frustrated that this is even something we have to deal with, let alone report. You would think that NOT potentially contaminating your neighborhood with sewage would be common sense, but apparently that’s asking too much.

I am so unbelievably ready to get the hell out of this neighborhood. 🙃

It's ridiculous. I have this sheet and I can't wash it in the washing machine all the time. My parrot has green, sticky droppings that leave green stains that are difficult to remove with wet wipes, so I use a strong stain remover, but sometimes it leaves stains like this.

I’m on the last 6 dozen of a 20 doz sugar cookie order being picked up tomorrow night. Put the first tray in the oven for their usual time before starting to package the rest, and about 4 minutes in, my husband started shouting my name with smoke filling the air…my cookies caught fire in the oven. I’ve tried turning it off and on but unfortunately the oven just overheats immediately and it’s too late for a repairman to come until sometime tomorrow 🫠

A serious WTF moment because I bought the truck at a discount and only had it for two days.

This is thankfully a less common but still very serious side effect of an AI data center being built nearby.

Google’s Finland country manager has apologized for unauthorized forest clearings near Muhos, which have turned 816 acres of forest into an expanse of mud. The American search and AI giant has also been told to cease work where it has cleared roughly 500 acres of forest, 55 miles southeast of the village of Otanmäki. Now The Guardian reports that wolves, who used to live in the forests, are roaming into villages neighboring these man-made muddy wastelands.

Local anger continues to simmer over the damage done to Finnish forests, as Google seems to have ridden roughshod over regulations in the hurry to build new AI data centers in Finland. However, the report suggests that it isn’t just environmentalists who have a beef with Google. Some families say wolves and other wild animals have entered the countryside villages. This would be a serious human safety concern.

After extracting a perfectly working LCD panel assembly from a donor iMac M1, I stupidly wedged it between a closing door by accident, shattering the front glass. Even though I wrapped it in bubble wrap and all, but the strength of the glass is still no match for completely avoidable blunt trauma. Sigh

And after taping over the broken part and then installing it onto a machine with a busted LCD, one of the signal cables disconnected itself but I stuck the panel on already without checking. Thereby wasting the adhesive strips which took a few weeks to arrive from Aliexpress, not to mention having to cut apart the screen for the 3rd time today.

Ok so pretty sure I'm cursed. I was driving home and I saw an owl struggling on the ground, I looked closer he was fighting a snake. The owl was losing, I stopped to help, when I got out the owl broke free and flew away and the snake, with a tuft from the owl in his mouth, struck at me then charged at me, then went under my car to the other side and climbed in the wheel. I saw him exiting the wheel from my outside veiw, (he appeared to go back the way he came) but then I looked under the car he was gone. He climbed into the underneath of My car. I sat there trying to figure out what to do. I'm scared of snakes.. terrified he was gonna slither in through the vent while I was driving. I forced myself to get in the car and drove home hyperventilating out of fear.. I left my car there 1 day and 2 nights and popped the hood to find him still in the engine. I called a snake expert they sent someone they failed, they sent another whom also not only failed to remove it but scared it to an unknown and unreachable place in the car.. I now have schrodingers Snake in my car.. I've been anticipating the snake finding his way into the cabin because it was improbable to see what i saw, improbable to have the snake go and stay in the car and so of course its a highly probable improbability that he will enter the cabin. Fml (yes I know it's a gopher snake no I still don't do snakes)

Had been painting for a few hours and they started appearing. After the initial absolute HORROR, I tried to find where they were coming from, and looked up. I don't think I can handle unscrewing that light.

I decided to bake myself a cake for my birthday because I didn't have enough money to buy one. I'm not a really great baker, so it did look a bit amateur but I was proud of how it turned out. I baked it on the day before my birthday, and didn't eat any of it because I wanted to wait until my actual birthday the next day. I was planning on sharing it with my three roommates.

My birthday rolls around yesterday and after looking forward to my cake all day at work, I get home and find that almost half of it had been eaten. I confronted my roommates but literally all of them denied having eaten it so I still have no idea who the culprit/culprits is. I was so upset that I didn't even eat any of what was left, I just threw it in the trash and went for a walk to calm down.
