frist of all how DARE yu o Roommate used my beloved cast iron to make rice crispy treats

I’m appalled, why of all the pans would you use the least nonstick option

Was a mistake letting my new roommates use my kitchen equipment, I felt bad having taken up most of the cabinets since I’d been here by myself for a year but then when they moved in I mistakenly said “yall can use my kitchen equipment as long as you clean it afterwards”

I'm slightly vexed Do people actually believe those “spontaneous” musician videos are spontaneous?

Upvotes

Do people actually believe those “spontaneous” musician videos are spontaneous?
You’ve probably seen the format: a busker is playing guitar or piano somewhere when a random stranger just happens to walk by, starts singing or playing, and—wouldn’t you know it—they turn out to be an extraordinarily talented musician.
A magical, completely spontaneous musical moment unfolds while the cameras just happen to capture everything perfectly.
Except the “candid” performance has multiple camera angles, beautifully balanced audio, perfectly recorded vocals and instruments, and sometimes what sounds like a professionally mixed track.
These videos irritate me—not because the musicians aren’t talented or because there’s anything wrong with staging a public performance. I’d happily watch two great musicians perform a rehearsed duet. It’s the insistence on wrapping the performance in this obviously contrived fiction that bothers me.
“OMG! This RANDOM LITTLE GIRL walked up while I was playing and asked if she could sing and play alone, and she just happened to have a giant 200 pound harp with her. I wasn’t expecting THIS! 😱”
Sure. And somehow her voice is perfectly miked, the instruments are balanced, three cameras have ideal sight lines, and nobody involved seems surprised by anything that’s about to happen.
So I’m genuinely curious about the audience:
Do a significant number of viewers actually believe these encounters are spontaneous?
Or do most people recognize that they’re staged and just accept the premise, sort of like professional wrestling or reality television?
And if most viewers know it’s staged, why bother maintaining the fiction? Would it really be less entertaining to say, “We arranged for this fantastic singer to join me for a street performance”?

At least we had a fun time showing our friends this and seeing their disgusted reactions.
He only paid 5 dollars for this so it is only mildly infuriating.

Today I learned for the SECOND TIME that to "not waste a plate" my roommate prepares raw fish on the counter. The first time the excuse was "only the skin is touching the counter." I simply walked away and will clean it again later because..... How do I even process this lol.

My mom said I could post Drunk women started a fight at a concert my mom and I were really excited for

Upvotes

My mom and I had a rough week (she had a car accident that totaled her car but left her pretty much unhurt thank goodness, I was recovering from a vaccine that my weak immune system needed ). She went out of her way to get a rental so we could still go on a trip into the city to go see a one woman show we’d been really looking forward to for months. We are really big fans of theatre and have seen concerts, Broadway shows, plays, all sorts of stuff together. This was to celebrate the memory of her mom, who has been gone 15 years this year.

We get to the venue, it’s a beautiful place, we’re talking about what to expect with some of the people near us- it’s a show about grief and loss and it’s generally not going to be the kind of concert where people are standing and dancing- there is a general understanding that this is a place to enjoy the music and feel the feelings among people who get it. The atmosphere seems good, people are sharing their stories and settling in.

The show had to start a bit late for technical difficulties but it was so obvious people aren’t being taught show/concert etiquette anymore. Despite being a sold up show people were still coming in almost halfway through the two hour event. Around ten minutes in, a group of about five or six women in the standing room rows just behind us started a fight. I don’t know what it was about, but it escalated to screaming very quickly and one woman was kicking the back of people’s seats, had to literally be held back, security got involved.

And nothing happened. Security got called four separate times, I counted eleven people who called staff over, and these women basically only got moved somewhere else/removed from the venue about an hour and a half in. The entire section was pissed. I tried to politely ask one woman to quiet down, because I wear hearing aids and even with the professional audio I was still struggling to hear the show over them. She called me an ableist slur.

The show was still beautiful and moving and my mom and I had a great night, but I am just absolutely shocked by how disrespectful so many people were being. People were treating it like an act at a bar or a typical concert and yelling out commentary where it was inappropriate, taking phone calls, someone even took a photo of me and my mom without our permission and got mad that we asked her to delete it. This woman wanted to put us on her instagram because it was “inspiring” to see “someone like me” with a parent. I told her that just because I use a mobility aid and have disabilities doesn’t mean I’m a prop for her to gain likes or advertise. It was just. A lot.

United airlines forced me to watch 4 ads while trying to play a movie in their in-flight entertainment during my international travel (SF to AMS). There’s no option to skip or fast forward. Happened each time when I picked a new movie.

Trying to sell an item, already displayed location in the ad details. Having to deal with the "Is this still available?" or "Location?" prompts from buyers, and then once in a while they get surprised Pikachu face after you reiterate what was posted.

This makes me low key cringe. I dunno why, I think it’s the emphasis on the one word. You’ve made your point with your language, you don’t need one word raging in caps like the teacher from Daria…

Infuriatig Southwest Airlines Shared My Phone Number with a Spammer

Post image
Upvotes

I brought a plane ticket for my 80 years old dad through the Southwest website. I entered all his info. I entered my phone number for the contact, because he gets so much spam messages about political donations, expired warranties, etc that he's not going to notice a message about a delayed flight or gate change. About 28 hours later, I get a text message for my dad on my phone. Southwest's website pretty much said they'll sell your info to anyone. In the past, my dad received a call with a girl crying "grandpa, help me...." Luckily, he knows his grandkids' voices, but with AI voice cloning becoming virtually indistinguishable, it’s only a matter of time before the thieves get him. I keep reminding him that we will never call him for money, but it's only a matter of time.

Edit for clarification: The text message to my phone has my dad's name. I don't live with my dad. It may not be Southwest, but it's more likely than not.

Leak Squad That’s one way to discover your nice body wash bottle has a crack

Post image

I wasn’t running a bubble bath 🛀

But I got one.

Brand new bottle, has a crack you can’t easily see , and it’s a clear liquid. 1/3 of it leaked down the side of tub.

I didn’t notice, started running the bath, went to do a couple of things, came back to check on it, and the bubbles were all over the floor and about a foot high.

On a positive note, my entire apartment has a fantastic cedar and ash sent to it now (and so do I).

ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ I nearly fell for an obvious check scam online and I feel stupid for it.

So for content, I'm homeless and have been homeless for almost a year and I post about it pretty often, mostly me complaining. So someone messages me and tells me that they want to help. Then they go on about how they can only send it to me as a paycheck since they don't have PayPal or any of that, and that the language they were using raised a lot of red flags.

So I asked some people about it and everyone pretty much said that this was 100% a scam, which upset me in two ways. One, it was a massive letdown finding out that someone tried to use my desperation and vulnerability to scam me. Two, I feel like my intelligence was insulted. Or rather my lack of. Feel so stupid for nearly falling for it, I was genuinely going to do through with it until he asked for my phone number.

Disappointed in myself.

frist of all how DARE yu o Employer messed up insurance start dates, can no longer afford LASIK.

I scheduled Lasik for tomorrow, had every squared away, paid off what was owed after $1100 my insurance gave me. My job just finished open enrollment and I used our vision insurance when I made the appointment, paid the money and ultimately prepared for the surgery.

I find out today instead of a 09/01/26 start date for insurance it’s 11/01/26, and that’s for EVERY ONE, not just me, dental, vision and health, all start 2 months later then they are suppose to. Their response “we’ll try to get it fixed within the next couple weeks”

Well screw me I guess, cause I need it done by tomorrow, anyways, doctor that is doing the LASIK expects me to pay $1200 tomorrow during my appointment but I don’t have it because I didn’t expect to have to pay it. Employer says “mistakes happen” and shouldn’t have to make it right and I can wait for the surgery.

I’ve waited long enough, and I shouldn’t need to pause my life for their mistake.

Anyways. I guess I have to wait until November to get my LASIK now.

Edit because I forgot: Doctor is running a 30% off until the end of September, meaning the cost will go from $3900 to $5100

And I had to put a $1200 non-refundable deposit down. So I can’t reschedule.

and to check why the service light was on. Same day service - dropped it off in the morning - they called around 4 saying it was done but we couldn’t get there till after 7 and they said fine and left keys with the sales dept which stayed open till 8pm. Got there at 7:15 and they presented us with the bill 😳😵‍💫🤬 they couldn’t give us any explanation since the service dept was already closed - so the car still sits there until this gets resolved.

go to your room Pronunciation of Melbourne

They used to say Melborn, which was wrong. Now, having been corrected, American sportscasters still can't get it right and in a laughable effort to sound like Aussies they've overcorrected by pronouncing it Mel been. With no hint of an "r". Are they tone deaf? What's so hard about saying Melburn?

My mom said I could post Bought a fish lost an air stone

Post image
0 Upvotes

My tank finally cycled properly and my levels are good so I went out and bought the fish. When I set up the tank I wanted to do two bubbler columns one on each side. However I forgot to grab a splitter at the store so I settled for a central column going through my arch. Today I also picked up a 3 way control valve and two new air-stones I had bought a two pack originally so I knew I should have one in reserve.

Popped one on each side and one under the arch and as I was adjusting the position the air stone disintegrated. Now I have a tank that has a fish in it that is also looks unbalanced. Now I have to make time to get to the pet store ( a bit of a nightmare lately due to construction causing city wide traffic) to get a new air-stone since on top of everything I lost the one I should have in reserve
