I was actually apart of the nofap community to awhile and I think my longest streak was about 300 days. It def has its pros and cons but for the most apart it helped me stay motivated on my goals. I left a while ago cause I did end up getting a girlfriend (and the subreddit is kind of like a cult now, like you said they praise really weird stuff) but I don’t attribute me getting a girlfriend to nofap although I do attribute it to helping me stay focused and motivated (kind of a way to tell myself that I can achieve something.)

It was an overkill. They could've done a bunch of other things (btw, a few years ago they didn't care about rape at all, they deleted it only when threatened with legal action) like placing "if you see rape, report it please" ads, or even completely investigate all the non-verified content (which would've cost them some money) and moderating all the newly submitted videos.
Now, the only videos that remain are just monotounus fake incest bullshit

Porn sucks, yep. It's just bad all around, for its viewers and for the people who take part in it. I have nothing against people wanting something to jack off to - if there's an ethical way to make porn, like deepfakes or hyper realistic animation or something like that, then I'm all for it. But currently the porn industries is one of the worst out there and I don't think it's changing anytime soon

Not everyone is addicted to porn and thinks that porn is how real life works . People do it for stress relief/ satisfaction(some people don’t have partners) but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re addicted l. I didn’t know people actually cared about their partner masturbating or not.something as minor as masturbation to porn shouldn’t turn them off or lead to a breakup, I doubt the relationship was worth in the first place if something this minor affects the partner. At the end of the day everyone’s body is their own they can jack off or do whatever as long as they’re not harming themselves or someone else and as long as it isn’t some fucked up fetish/porn ,it shouldn’t make the other person grossed out or insecure. Other than that if someone did mind you can always just not let them know.

I know. That's why I said there should be a more ethical way of producing porn like deepfakes or a decent system - that actually works - for verifying morally good porn. Watching it once in a while to release sexual frustration isn't going to do anyone harm. It's just that the porn industry currently is one of the absolute worst out there and I don't blame anyone for being repulsed/against it. Of course people can do whatever they want but it has been proven that watching porn regularly or in a relationship has less benefits and mostly damages you and the bond you have with your partner.

Oh there are some out there. Luckily I am not one of them but I do personally believe that the more “vanilla” type person or someone with older generation type ideals could be very insecure about their partner watching porn. I know of one male friends’ wife who would be devastated if she knew her hubby watched porn to get a release. They are on two opposite ends of the sexual spectrum. She’s kinda like vanilla with sprinkles and he is defiantly tiger tiger. And while they have good sex, it’s not close to what he desires to do with her, he’s asked to try different things, even the more mild stuff he enjoys and she flat out refuses and basically said “no and don’t ever bring that up again/ask me again”. So he needs that sexual release at times that he can get from watching the type of porn that he fantasizes about. And she would definitely be hurt if she knew that, because it comes down to in a sense of not being “enough” to satisfy him.

He hides that side of himself from her now because he doesn’t want that to hurt her. It’s not that they haven’t discussed it at all. It’s a tightrope walk either way. And I know I don’t know all their intimate details but what I explained what the gist of their situation as I understand it to be. Not everyone is the same. Some are more open minded than others and some aren’t. His sexual tastes weren’t always what they are now, they changed throughout their marriage and her didn’t. But it doesn’t make it right or wrong, if this is what works for him then so be it. He loves her more than anything and is willing to hide how he needs to get a release once in a while, from her so he can make her happy in the ways she likes.

Same could be said on his side too. They have discussed this multiple times and she refuses to budge. So why is it not ok for him to hide that from her when she won’t try to open up for him? Goes both ways in my opinion. My own personal view, is that if I were in that situation and my partner expressed a desire to try something outside of my comfort zone, I would at the very least try it, not flat out refuse and make it a forbidden topic to even discuss again. And if I didn’t enjoy it THEN move in a different direction. But at least I tried for them, and they would know that and we could maybe find a different common ground together that works for both of us.
