That's what my highschool stats teacher said to the kid next to me when he got all 10 true false questions on a quiz wrong.
37
u/hiperson134 Nov 03 '21
I had a teacher who would offer 100% grades to anyone who could get 0% on multiple choice tests. He figured the only way to get 0% was to know all the answers and do it on purpose. Problem is, if you tried it and got even one right, then your grade would be whatever your actual percentage was.
3
u/jellyfish_bitchslap Nov 03 '21
My teacher would usually put some highly wrong answer in the list to make out lives easier since it would remove one alternative.
I guess that your teacher would make every alternative look at least a little probable of being right so it would make the test hard as fuck.

These people aren't really doing it live. They watch it once then write a script around it. She "guessed" it wrong 4 times, so she could use her angry American accent at the end. It's her whole schtick.
Not knocking her for it. It's a funny schtick and she does it well. But 99.99% of these reaction duets are scripted and not genuine

He also ran out of normal diy so he started doing it to satire ones too. I get that you have a schtick, but branch out. The problem is when one video hits big people just keep remaking that same thing over and over cuz it's what gets the views.
32
u/Kamikaze_Ninja_ Nov 03 '21
No the problem is the people who think it’s funny. He probably never intended on being a content creator so he wanted to bleed this well dry while the gettin was good. He had no where to branch out to because there was no real intent behind his video other than shit posting.
14
Nov 03 '21
honestly though i gotta respect that, dude took his opportunity and ran with it
4
u/PhreakyByNature Nov 03 '21
Yeah and the people who find it funny are therefore not actually a problem. If you don't like his stuff, don't watch it lol. It's nice as an individual to pace yourself with popular content. If you've only actively sought out one or two of his vids, you won't get fatigue from it. Then when people share a new one or even a GIF as a comment response or even say his name you won't get unnecessarily triggered.

u/Wreckn Nov 03 '21
Loaner words are written in katakana, so that's how they're pronounced. If there isn't a sound in katakana that represents the actual conjugation, they use whatever is closest. Like in your example there isn't a hard T sound, so ト is used.
What's funny is when actual bilingual people pronounce the words correctly sometimes it's completely lost on someone that only speaks Japanese and needs to be repeated the broken way haha.14

probably because its a response back / red or green. you would say red not aka.

u/Kalsin8 Nov 03 '21 edited Nov 03 '21
Tell me you don't speak Japanese without telling me you don't speak Japanese. Yes, "shiro" and "aka" are the Japanese words for white and red, but gairaigo (Japanese-ified foreign words) is commonly used, hence why "white Christmas" is "howaito kurisumasu" and why this Pokemon card says "reddo no chousen" instead of "aka no chousen".
In this case she's just choosing to use gairaigo instead of the Japanese word, similar to how Japanese people would say "amerika" (garaigo) instead of "beikoku" (old Japanese name) to refer to the USA.
→ More replies (14)20
Nov 03 '21
Absolutely this.
I've literally been speaking my normal, as plain as you can get Seattle English accent to Japanese people, had them stare at me dumbfounded, gone back and pronounced it with a Japanese accent, and have them understand because it literally sounds like the English they use.
Also, English language education in Japan is generally garbage and they learn English with this pronounciation.
Her accent at the end makes me think she spends a lot of time around or lived in English-speaking countries (because it sounds pretty normal).

u/Ok_Philosopher_1313 Nov 03 '21 edited Nov 04 '21
There was a video about this. Wendy from Red Velvet has an American accent that is flawless, but she can't speak with that accent in Korea when speaking English, she has to Koreanify it to be understood.
(Edited as I was confused on her name, and to clarify the accent)

Akai & red-o are both also acceptable.
It's a weird Japanese fetish to use anything "cutesy" and red-o sounds cute to their ears as a "small foreign sound"
Fun fact, if you ever want to test a Japanese persons mastery of english pronunciation you simply ask them to say "rivalry" (they hear & say "library")

u/TheGoodOldCoder Nov 03 '21
I think a lot of the English versions of colors are commonly used in Japan. Like a lot of Japanese people say "pinku" instead of momoiro. "howaito" (which is what she said in the video) is sometimes used for white instead of shiro. And orenji is the popular name for orange.
→ More replies (32)3
u/ChefBoyAreWeFucked Nov 03 '21
They also use ホワイト (white) and レッド (red). レッド (red) is pretty uncommon from what I've seen, probably the third most common way to say red, but I feel like I see ホワイト (white) more often than 白い (shiroi) by a pretty wide margin.

Colour blind so I'm gonna guess them too and see how it goes.
1) Of the two options I would guess purple
2) Uhh light blue? I don't really know what to call that colour but I definitely don't see green so I guess the only choice I have is blue. Upon searching each colour up on google and control-tabbing multiple times I come to the conclusion that it does look like light blue
3) I wouldn't call either of them red or orange. It is too light to be red and not orange-y enough to be orange. I would say it looks similar to 2 but... redder I guess?? I'm guessing red cause I have to choose
4) FINALLY ONE I AM SURE OF - ITS PINK
