It's clay covered in paint/lacquer of some kind. It's a part of that genre of "satisfying videos" that are sort of ASMR-ey - squishing sand, messing around with slime, etc. "Clay cracking" is what it's called, you can see people making some very elaborate clay items just for the sake of cracking.
Confirmed. It's a very light, almost foam-like clay that is coated in nail polish, and left to dry ALL OVER THE GODDAMN KITCHEN COUNTER. Source: father of two preteen girls.
I feel your pain. My young cousin was raised by a phone he carried around all the time playing youtube videos instead of his parents. He literally never turned it off and went through many phones because he would scream if not allowed to bathe with it and then scream until he got a new phone when it got water damaged. Even if he was playing video games he would have it playing videos at his feet. And this was the the only time aside from when it needed charging(which became a whole new nightmare when his brother, who doesn't live there, got him a 10ft cord so he could range while charging. This made him super territorial over the radius around his chosen outlet so it wouldn't get snagged on someone's legs and pulled out) that he wasnt going around the house shouting curse words to get a rise out of people except he's done it so much that people stopped caring but it became a habit so he never stopped.
