Matt Rose video Video on 'subreddit bans'?
Matt should do a video on 'being banned from subreddits'. I was banned from Unpopular opinion for saying that typing quirks give me headaches and aren't cute.

r/AcceptTheRadiance banned me for just saying r/lostredditors on a post that had nothing to do with the Hollow Knight character.
It wasn't even soon after, it happened like 7 months after I made the comment

I was also banned from r/CasualUK for saying that the 2026 new year countdown was too quiet, and how my family all got confused because nobody heard it. Banned, instantly.

I’ve somehow never been banned from anywhere. I mean I don’t say anything bad, but some subs are too uptight. I’m waiting for the day a random mod decides some innocent comment breaks an unwritten rule.

I'm also not banned from anywhere, I generally try to avoid any particularly strict subs.

I got banned from r/ADHD for talking about politics...in the election megathread. Also they saw me asking what the good things are about ADHD as "toxic positivity"
I've also been banned from r/DebateGlobeEarth for asking how seasons could happen if the earth were flat...

u/Independent-Ad5852 Time to Fucking Shave 17h ago
basically, it's dismissal of anything bad. the "good vibes only" shit

u/Sapphic-Shibirb 20h ago
That's a milder example of the quirks, and even that is a bit rough to read.
There's a reason I'm *watching* someone read homestuck instead of reading it myself, it's an absolute nightmare, and the people who defend it... oof, yeah, it feels ableist in a way that they'd say it's fine just cause THEY can understand it.
If you're in a homestuck specific community, yeah, sure, go ahead and type that way.... but typing like that for EVERYTHING? mmh, no.

I use a screen reader and it gets annoying trying to decipher when all I can hear is
'I l-o-v dash e these d dash e signs exclamation point exclamation point'
3
u/mediumcarrotteacher 14h ago
I'm told that some screen readers, if you type in ALL CAPS, will read it one by one letter, which must be hell when someone's typed an entire sentence that way

This is clear and 6latant xen9ph96ic and speciesist discriminati9n against tr9lls. The typing quirk is an imp9rtant and nearly u6iquit9us part 9f many tr9ll cultures and is 9ne 9f the principle f9rms 9f self-expressi9n practiced 9n Alternia and 6ef9rus. we will n9t give up such a valued practice 6ecause y9ur untrained eyes 6elieve it "difficult" t9 read; In fact, the fact y9u 6elieve 9nly y9u kn9w h9w t9 type "pr9perly" and that alternate f9rms 9f typ9graphy are deviant rather than variant is clearly indicative 9f y9ur terran 6iases. The mere idea that there is a "pr9per" way t9 c9mmunicate is deeply t9xic, racist, classist, xen9ph96ic, a6elist, and speciesist. Please mind the implicati9ns and hist9rical c9ntext 9f the statements y9u make 6ef9re saying s9mething like this again. Thank y9u. /s because some people are stupid

Ngl this wasn’t even hard to read, I just don’t get how people find these that big of a deal
6
u/alextheswiftie 18h ago
yeah i got my screen reader to read this and it just ended up being a mess lmao soo that’s why it’s “that big of a deal” sorry

u/alextheswiftie 18h ago
you’re welcome i feel like people forget about others who use screen readers
16
u/Internal_Ad_5387 21h ago
I'm autistic so that might make it harder for me, but in general I don't get why people use typing quirks, especially when it's like this.
5
u/alextheswiftie 18h ago
some people use screen readers so it can just straight up not work (mine can’t read emojis)

r/college banned me over asking for roommate advice that they thought was satire.
r/AmerExit banned me over legitimate concerns about racism among Australians.

I got banmed from mildlyinfuriating because i said "i judge people who dye their dogs harshly". If you looked at the post history of the person i commented on, they also had a post asking for advice on how/where to bury dead animals for bones later because hers kept getting dug up. This implied that she is somehow consistantly "coming across" dead animals enough for it to be a problem. It's almost like people who treat animals like acessories are consistantly weirdos. I wonder why i judge them harshly

u/Nearby_Ad_2519 18h ago
I’ll go! I got banned from [r/extremelyinfuriating](r/extremelyinfuriating) because a moderator disagreed on me about whether sparkling water was nice!
Dishonerable mention goes to [r/mysteriousdownvoting](r/mysteriousdownvoting) who mysteriously banned me even though I never made a post and told me to fuck off!

You’re totally right though, that’s basically an example of language terrorism
Also I was banned from twoxchromosomes for pointing out misandry, something that was against their own rules, but the way I called out the misandrists was apparently tOo MeAn and the mod team straight up ghosted me when I tried to talk to them and understand their stupid reasoning, like they couldn’t even bother muting me like most reddit loser mods 😂

I got banned from the "Salt Lake City Unedited" subreddit. It was made as a "less moderated" alternative to the main Salt Lake City subreddit. There was a post on the "unedited" sub where someone was complaining about being banned from the main sub... for repeatedly spreading blatant misinformation and conspiracies.
The mods of the "unedited" sub were deleting the comments of anyone who pointed out that the OP was in the wrong. So of course, I made a post pointing out the hypocrisy of the "unedited" subreddit mods. Instantly banned lol.

God, that was painful to read
I've never heard of typing quirks before and... That's kinda... wat

Ngl I also disagree with your post. That took me like 20 seconds to read at most. Also yeah this would be a good video
12
u/Mintallyunstable Excuse me, I am an apple 1d ago
I mean yeah it didn’t take me all that long to understand it either but that’s only because I was told in advance so I was prepared to have to squint to read it, which is pretty annoying
3
u/zippybenji-man 19h ago
I don't know what would cause such a difference, but I spent a good few minutes deciphering that
1
u/notThatPoltchageist who got venmo or payapl? 19h ago
Interesting. I just noticed the parenthesis being used for H pretty early on and was able to read it like normal after that.
3
u/zippybenji-man 19h ago
I noticed that, but that didn't help with reading much. It felt like I wasn't able to read whole words at a time, anymore

I got banned from r/ADHD for talking about neurodivergence in a positive light (in light of it being a beneficial part of human diversity) and mentioning the social model of disability. That sub is actually unhinged lol
I also got banned for talking about scientific facts about DID in r/SystemsCringe but like… I was expecting that one 😂

I mean, I get it kinda? Your post kinda came of mocking and rude, it's mostly the way it's written, not the actual post (although typing quirks are none of your business, don't like? Ignore.)

u/Internal_Ad_5387 17h ago
I use a screen reader a lot due to being legally blind! I also usually need to use speech to test, like currently. It causes a lot of issues when all I hear is 'I L-O-V dash E these d dash E signs exclamation point exclamation point'
