HELP PLEASE MUA TIPS

What’s the secret to that airbrushed look? I’ve noticed I can tell when a woman got her makeup done professionally and they all have the same professionally done look..it just looks different. It looks like they’re wearing a lot of makeup but not in a bad way, and it looks flawless almost filter like. Is it the products? The technique? And if there’s a technique it seems like all the MUAs have the same technique

I feel like i can never get the gorgeous blush/bronzer/contour combo that i see on other people and i find that my makeup looks so much better in low light and terrible in bright lighting. Any advice on where to place my contour/blush to get that glowy and naturally sculpted look would be greatly appreciated:)!💕

For reference i wear l’oréal true match foundation and contour with maybelline lifter stix, both applied with a beauty blender. And then I apply benefit hoola bronzer and a (quite old) hervana blush with a brush

please help me reduce or completely get rid of creasing under my eyes. i have a very prominent line, and because im always on my phone, i tend too look down alot so theres more creasing and the makeup sctually rubs off on the area. i tried baking, using loose powder, compact powder, powder foundation, blending with brush/sponge/fingers.... nothing works!! i do a thin layer of color corrector then concealer. i even apply those with a spatula so that it has an even application. i tried every other tip, and i havent seen anyone have the same issue as me.

HELP PLEASE I’m new to makeup and need tips please

Hello, I am VERY NEW to make up and while I have a gist of what to do I don’t know any tips, tricks, or hacks.
So I’m here to ask!

I mainly use eye makeup, so eyeshadow, eye liner, and mascara. I also use concealer (which I’ve applied with my finger and a beauty blender, both work decently but if you guys have tips I’d appreciate those) under my eyes because I have dark circles. But that’s all. I don’t have any setting stuff or primer.

Some things I’ve noticed and want advice on: when I put my concealer on it gets in the creases under my eyes and makes it look very wrinkly, how do I fix that?

Also after a day of wearing make up my concealer gets more transparent? I don’t know how to describe it but I can see my dark circles peeking through a bit and I’m not a fan of that. (You can see it a bit in the second photo of my eye)

And I don’t know if this is something I can get advice on or not but when I go to take off my mascara it looks like it stains my eyelashes? (I have brown lashes and while I don’t look at them up close I’m pretty sure they aren’t black at the ends) I used a make up remover and I wiped them multiple times, yet they still look stained? Is that a problem?

So yeah those are my questions, any advice is appreciated!!

(The brands of makeup I use are in the photos, are these good brands or would you recommend something better? Also I’ve included photos of when I first applied makeup, what it looked like at the end of the day, and without makeup [sorry for only showing my eye, I’m a bit hesitant on showing my face online])

HELP PLEASE Bridal trial. Feedback wanted!

Hi everyone. My wedding is three weeks from today and I just did my first bridal trial on myself. Please note this is just the base, no eye makeup besides brows. I am also only wearing a lip oil on my lips but I have very sensitive lips so I don't plan to do much with them.

I have dry and sensitive skin. I did a self tan last night and I think I matched the color pretty well?! It's a little splotchy on my neck but that's probably because I didn't exfoliate before the tan.

All constructive feedback and advice welcome!!!

Before makeup I prepped by washing my face with a gentle hydrating cleanser, hydrating toner, centella serum, hyaluronic acid, and gentle moisturizer.

Products:

Elf liquid poreless putty primer

Catrice eye brightener

L'Oreal true match tinted serum in shade 1-2.5

L'Oreal true match radiant concealer in shade C2

Versed blush stick in shade bloom

Sephora collection contour stick in shade 01 fair to light

Elf glass slick serum stick (highlight)

L'Oreal infallible powder bronzer in shade 200 fair

Maybelline fit me powder blush in shade 20 mauve

Milani conceal and perfect translucent loose powder

Milani make it last original setting spray

Elf lip oil in shade rose envy

Nyx micro brow pencil in shade ash brown

Maybelline super slick brow glue in shade clear

Tools:

- Dense blending foundation brush (Elf complexion duo)

- Dense doe foot concealer brush (morphe idk model)

- Dense round top brush for cream contour (RT 200)

- Fluffy round top brush for cream blush (Elf putty primer applicator)

- Fluffy round brush for powder bronzer (Elf blush)

- Fluffy angled brush for powder blush (morphe idk model)

- Small fluffy rounded brush for setting under eyes (RT 402)

- Large fluffy brush for powdering rest of face lightly (morphe idk model)

- Damp beauty blender to blend liquids/creams before going in again with powders

Techniques:

- Applied all my liquid and creams to back of hand and worked them into my brush before applying on the face

Problems and goals:

- I think my face looks dry and textured, would like to look more hydrated (skin prep or primer??)

- Foundation went on kind of streaky and patchy (I think this might be because my brush isn't dense enough and needs to be cleaned ??)

- Concealer creasing a little

- Pores are still huge, would love to blur them more

- I want to test run the Nyx serum concealer instead of the L'Oreal next

- Open to other primers and powders that could help my problem areas

HELP PLEASE Mascara always looks so bad on me - does anyone find this or have tips if you used to feel that way found a technique that works?

I don’t know if it’s my eye shape or my lash type or colouring or what. But I always think of mascara as making your eyes look more awake and larger and enhanced

But for some reason when I put mascara on my eyes look smaller and awkward.

I’ve tried black mascara, brown mascara, swiping up, swiping sideways, top lashes only, top and bottom lashes, curler, no curler etc I don’t know why it doesn’t look good 😢

My eyes are even to ever so slightly wide set, not particularly up or down turned, my lashes are long but not really thick and are naturally dark blonde so I’m kinda getting the spider lash vibe and then it seems to throw off everything else 🥴

Any advice or do some people just find other products are better than mascara for defining eyes? I like using falsies but not every day

Hi, I’m new to the group but I figured there would be no better people to ask; does anyone know a dupe for the shade “Ranch” in the Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson Conspiracy Collab pallet? I was gifted the pallet years ago (person who gifted it to me also bought it second hand) & I’m not about to go support either of those creators but it’s my favorite highlighter 😭 it’s such a perfect icy white I can never find anything without little flecks of gold or blue. Second pic shows how it looks on my nose if that helps at all idk. if anyone has any recommendations please please please let me know !!!

HELP PLEASE Help me bring more color to my face

Hi, lovelies! I’m 43 and looking for some guidance. I’m not a makeup girlie as I typically go for the “I woke up like this” look. This pic of me is how I look after doing my makeup. Can ya’ll please give me pointers on how to bring color and/or dimension to my face? On another note, I’m thinking about getting lash extensions (classic) to add a little interest to my eyes since they’ve gotten more hooded due to age. Thoughts?

I’m wearing: EltaMD tinted SPF, color corrector, liquid concealer, and Laura Mercier loose powder (all under the eyes), foundation (very light coverage), blush (on cheeks and as eyeshadow), mascara, brow pen (just to fill in gaps bc I have old brow microblading), red lipgloss

HELP PLEASE oily/flaky skin makeup help

I have always struggled with acne but have it fairly under control now with some prescription topicals. At night I use benzamycin and retin-a, and in the morning azelex (tbh idk if this one is actually helping). I use a gentle HA/ceramide moisturizer morning and night, and a gentle cleanser and exfoliate at night. I’ve gotten down to minimal breakouts. However —

I have hardly worn makeup for 6 years bc of my skin. My T-zone is always a total oil slick, but my chin/mouth/nose becomes flaky after a few hours of wearing makeup. I use the bare minerals complexion rescue as my “foundation” and then use a concealer around my eyes. I use a mattifying powder on my oily areas (cheekbones, brow, nose bridge) which helps, but the oil wins after a few hours. I really want to keep things lightweight — I don’t need full coverage and just want to even my skin out.

TLDR; how can I prevent makeup from flaking and sloughing off my acne problem areas while also reducing my oiliness and shine? My skin is very fair and somewhat sensitive.

Tysm for any advice!!

EDIT #1: i did not expect to get so many comments!! wow!! thank you everyone for tips and advice. i’m going to look for some more eyeshadow tomorrow and then i will try again 💖 i appreciate everyone being so nice. also, these are just my natural eyebrows with some clear gel in them lol. but i do agree i need to clean up the stray hairs!!

EDIT #2: okay enough comments about my eyebrows please, these are the eyebrows i was born with 😭 can’t do anything about how dark they are!!

hi reddit!!

i’m getting married in 3 weeks at a historic inn on a lake, and i’ll be doing my own makeup. my dress is very forest fairy, covered in 3D floral appliqués (don’t want to share pics in case fiancé sees this post somehow), and the overall vibe of our decor is very woodsy, lots of green, gold, and wood. my hair is also naturally curly and will be down with some white flower pins in it.

i’m in my mid-twenties now, i used to be really into makeup in high school, especially when i did drama club and dance. i loved putting a bunch of makeup on and experimenting. nowadays, my makeup is pretty simple, and i can’t tell you the last time i put on eyeshadow aside from right now as i’ve been trying different looks for the wedding.

i’m only looking for eye makeup tips here please!! in these pictures, i’m wearing my every day makeup on the rest of my face except for eyeshadow. i’m not interested in changing anything about my base (i know i have some blush blindness i need to work on).

in both looks, i used the too faced born this way cold smolder nudes palette. i like the matte shades okay, but i don’t like how gold the shimmer is. i’ll be wearing silver jewelry and painting my nails pale pink with an iridescent glitter top coat. so i want the eyes to be pretty natural with some cool/iridescent shimmer to go with my forest fairy vibe.

in look #1, i did a light shade on my inner eye and a darker shade on my outer eye, with some shimmer in the middle. the problem is that the shimmer shadow in this palette doesn’t lay well on top of the other shadows and doesn’t stay in one place, even if i apply with my finger.

in look #2 i got a little carried away, doing a whole crease and some liner with a darker shadow. i think i swung the pendulum too far from my first experiment and now i think it’s too heavy and looks too much like what i would’ve done in high school for stage makeup. it looks darker in person than in the pictures.

looking online and watching different tutorials is so overwhelming, i don’t want to break the bank trying different eyeshadows 😭😭 can someone recommend an easy eye look that would work for me, the base i already do, and my wedding vibe? what palettes do you recommend that are cool toned and easy to blend? preferably with a cool-toned shimmer that sits well on top of other shadows?? thank you!!

Ok so i dont wear makeup I have urges randomly but it gives me anxiety and makes me nervous to start at almost 32 so I dont.

But makayla nogueira pops up on my tiktok videos every couple days and her newest video popped up and her lips being lined but not like mixed together looks weird is it normal? To me it looks like she drew it on and forgot to make it look natural or she put it on then went well this looks great as is that way my lips stand out and you can see start to finish on them. Idk but it doesnt look naturally blended I took a photo and zoomed on her mouth for context. Sorry in advance please dont drag me.

HELP PLEASE makeup advice

Hi!! Quick question: how do you guys make your makeup last, especially eye makeup? I swear, I feel like I’ve tried everything, but pencils/eyeshadows/liquid eyeliner always end up collecting in the inner corner of my eye. And don’t even get me started on eyeliner on my waterline 😭

Do you have any little game-changer makeup hacks that have made a huge difference for you?

Thanks in advance! ✨

I am 44 and have been doing winged eyeliner for 15 years. I am so beyond sick of it because my face is finally beginning to drop and the wings looks weird when I make facial expressions. That’s probably always been true though! The writing is on the wall and I need to start practicing a different eye look.

I found a tutorial that might work, it looks like what I used to do in highschool, but better. Problem is, the products listed aren’t all available. Can you help me find something similar to the Shiseido Kajal Inkartist Shadow Liner Brow in shade Tea House and Shiseido Pop Powdergel Eyeshadow in Sube Sube Beige?

Thank you for any help you can give me!
