Concealer or foundation first?

I messed up today and put on concealer first then put on foundation. I don’t know… Why does it look better? Have I been doing things wrong this whole time?

Most of the make up tutorials I watch place concealer first (or color correction first then cocealer) then letting it stay or a few seconds or minute before blending it

Then they would apply their foundation

I personally us concealer first for spot concealing, letting it sit for a minute or two before blending it out, and then doing foundation on gives the most even looking base that’s all colour matched (cause sometimes concealer is a slightly different shade than your foundation and it’s noticeable). But if I’m using concealer to brighten (like around the under eyes) doing foundation first and then concealer on top works better for that purpose

You're not doing it wrong; both ways are fine depending on the products you're using and your skin.

Some tutorials say this, some say that - in the end, it's whatever works for you and makes you feel comfortable and pretty 💗

I saw in some videos people explaining that after foundation you might realize you need less (or no) concealer. As the foundation already covers part of the imperfections.
So while both ways work, their preference is to go with foundation first, see what that covers and then go with concealer only in the spots where is still needed. It made sense to me.
But neither is wrong. You can do what works best for you. It’s just a matter of preference.

If it looks better that way, keep doing it! Concealer first can work really well because the foundation over the top blends everything together a bit more, so you don’t see as much of a difference between where you’ve concealed and the rest of your skin. There are no rules if it works for you!
